Hi! I'm a freelance illustrator and animator from the UK. I make videos surrounding my work and life, mainly chilled studio vlogs showing my everyday reality and artistic process, but also the occasional rambling chatty videos, talking about my experiences living with autism, and being a trans person. I hope you stick around and enjoy my vids :)

Congrats!! I realized earlier today that tomorrow is actually my 3 year anniversary of tit-lessness! My top surgiversary, if you will. Happy for us!
Oh I wish you sweet dreams during surgery, hoping all goes well & a speedy recovery!! ❤
Thank you so much! Surgery went very well, now just need to rest and recover ☺️
I'm so happy for you! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Thank you so much!
💖💖💖
Congratulations!!! You deserve all the good that comes to you :)
Thank you so much!!
“I…wanna add cats” always the solution imo!
This is very relatable, thank you so much for sharing this 💜
Saw your post in reddit about which hair color suits you best I think? And stayed for the ASMR Sketchbooks. Wish you the best 🤜🏽
Wow I’m glad you found me here, and happy to have you! Thanks for watching 🙏
Omggggg lucky I've always wanted to go there im jealouss😭😭😭
Oh the irony of me adding this video to my ever-growing (and overwhelming!) collection of videos about autism, to try and figure out whether this relates to me 😅
I tend to struggle quite a bit with motivation myself. I still haven't figured out a way to make it any easier after all these years but... you know. Good luck with Peachtober though!
I certainly love drawing when listening to you talking, very interesting would love to watch more from you :DD
I’m glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching!
Also i forgot to share but, When it comes to image sharing, ive had some luck with random viral artworks, it goes generally nowhere in terms of follows, ive noticed that discord art communities, especially smaller ones made by like artist streamers can be nice, i do post my art on pinterest and i have all my artworks just link to my website/portfolio if people click on the art, in a way to protect my art and to redirect the traffic so to speak, not entirely sure how effective that is though. As for tumblr, again just like twitter and insta for me, really random engagement. I feel smaller communities is where its at currently. i absolutely agree its a bit gross now as you put it with image sharing
Thanks for sharing your experience! I agree, I think smaller communities are best at the minute
This was a very relaxing watch while drawing myself, i really enjoy these videos <3 also fun to see your artprogrss/thougths!
I’m so glad you enjoyed! Thank you for watching 💞
i love your videos so much they are so cozy 💜💙 I've been trying to become an artist professionaly and boy am I struggling to decide on the portfolio!! Happy you found a format you enjoyed exploring. also I never heard of yumi before but just ran over to follow their account instantly, soooo cute!
Thank you so much!! I’m glad you enjoy 💞 I wish you luck, the grind is real, but I it’s fun too! Yumi is a great artist, she’s really inspiring
Might I recommend neocities! People handcode personal websites on there and some share art, writing, photography, etc. It's really super cool to dig around and is not very social media based at all, but I love it :) I am a new subscriber, I love your work!
Thanks so much! And thank you for the suggestion, I’ll definitely give that a look!
First one
I enjoy the process of periodic decluttering. It’s like I’m an archaeologist discovering my own history. Archaeologists don’t display everything, they have to choose the best pieces. I look through my own items and try to keep only the most “museum-worthy” pieces. Then I don’t have to dig through the rest of the artifacts in the collection to appreciate the best parts.
Such a cosy calming vlog ty for taking us with you⭐️🫶
Thank you for watching, I’m so glad you enjoyed 🙏🫶

hey ash! are you gonna do peachtober?
I am! I’ll be doing little spot illustrations though, I’m not sure I’ll have time for full pieces
i love the natural history museum!
It’s really wonderful, a day wasn’t nearly enough time to enjoy everything fully!
I was going to go a couple months ago but I decided to go te the science museum 😭
Is this in Edinburgh by any chance?
This is in the Natural History Museum in London
no sorry, its in london x

Years ago, in Toronto, there was a phenomenon whereby people would leave a (usually well-loved) paperback book, for anyone to take, in a public space. You were expected to leave another paperback book for someone else to enjoy, wherever and whenever you could. A great idea. I only found one book, in a bus station, but it did not appeal to me. I left it for someone else. You could write a message inside the book if you wanted to do so. Not sure if this is still going on. I hope so. ❤
Oh I love that! Thank you for sharing! I love the idea of connecting with other people through small acts of kindness
Very sweet and kind. I hope the trend of leaving little gifts hidden in public places will catch on, and spread to many cities. This would be so marvellous!!
That’s so beautiful and your stickers are cool af
Thank you!
this is deep. kudos for taking the time to make it. I collect the books i can’t sit still long enough to read and dvds in case the internet stops at some point. ha. Old tv shows, especially sitcoms are a genuine safe place for my brain to go when i’m run down or poorly. The Office (us) and Community are places i can live in. have a good day 👍
But it's pointless without building
I’m not sure what you mean
@ashrickettsstudio I think they mean without drawing the construction underneath first... But it's still useful as just an observation study if you don't, I think
Ah I see. It’s absolutely still useful, as long as you understand the forms that you’re drawing. Just drawing lines without the knowledge of WHY they should be there would be the real pointless exercise
congrats on the surgery date!!! i had top surgery in 2020, i hope you feel as free and happy as i have in the years since afterwards :) always lovely to see a video from you. hope you are well! 💛
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it
I needed to find this thank you
AHHHH CONGRATS ON YOUR SURGERY DATE 🥳🥳🥳 I'm a college student so my creative space is my desk in my dorm lol. I have a small cart i use to hold art supplies (and some dishes). And on my desk, I have cool looking coffee cups with my posca pens and i have different knick knacks that inspire me on it. And the wall just has different prints from artists i love (including your still growing print from your etsy shop). Honestly this video gave me motivation to clean and tidy it up. But I agree with where you work effecting how creative you are just because the past two years I've lived here I haven't had too much decoration or organization in that corner of my dorm and now that i actually have places for my art supplies and I have more art and stuff that makes me inspired all around the desk I have felt alot more motivated to do creative work. I love the vid and the set up you put together, 5/5 stars! ⭐️🩷🫶
Oh my gosh I’m so honoured that my print is on your wall!! It’s so nice to hear about my art out in the world 🥹😭 I’m glad to hear your space is more inspiring now, I think during uni especially it’s important to have the space you call your own be motivating and invigorating!
Oh and also, may I ask what kind of printer you bought & what you think about it thus far? And a big big congrats to your surgery date!! ✨
Thank you!! and I got the HP Envy 6020e. The quality is a big improvement on my old printer, but to be honest I've noticed the ink smudges really easily no matter how long you leave it to dry which is quite annoying :/ You're also kind of forced into the HP+ subscription which I find really confusing and I'm still trying to work it out! Still an upgrade from my ancient printer I had before though haha
Wow this is so motivating to watch! I’ve been wanting to declutter & organize my art/planner stuff lately because it always feels messy / not organized the way I want it to be, but at the same time I’m using a lot of pens etc every day & I haven’t been able to keep up with the routine of putting everything away each night after using it. I’m also having my things in a Billy bookshelf from IKEA & previously I’ve bought some smaller storage boxes/ containers to try & organize a bit more, but it doesn’t quite work out, I’m realising. Do you have any tips/suggestions? Thank you for reminding me to watch your video about the decluttering process too because I got very motivated by watching it the last time. 😊 One last thing: I’d love to chat a bit more about things like this, but I can’t write DM’s to you on instagram (got some message that not all people can message you on there or something), so I’m wondering if you’d be interested in messaging on there somehow anyway? Would be very much appreciated 😊 (but of course totally fine if you don’t want to!). Looking forward to upcoming videos! Kindly / Kim
In terms of suggestions, to me it sounds like you shouldn't put your pens "away" if you're using them that frequently! I'd work out what you use the most and find a system on your desk to keep them to hand. Maybe one of those large spinning pen desk organisers? Thank you for watching and for the comment, I'm so glad you enjoyed and that you can relate! I've just had a look at my insta and changed my settings so I can get DMs, I didn't even realise I had it turned off! Always happy to chat more
Congratulations on the surgery date! I totally related to the whole "your workspace affects your creativity" thing cause when I first moved in to my new place my set up was horrid and I hated everything I drew, I just ended up switching my desks and bed and started drawing things I liked again the very next day lmao
Thank you so much! I think It’s so fascinating how our environment can affect our work and our enjoyment of it!
really cool layout! i live in a tiny room, so its a mess most of the time and I spend most of the time on the bed, but i have my desk by the window just like you and it gets great light during the day, it definitely worked when i painted
Thank you! Natural light is the best tbh
Really like the new layout and storage unit. Happy to hear your surgery is scheduled. Have a beautiful week ahead. 🖤🖤
Thank you so much, you have a great week as well!
yay! i'm so happy for you that you have your top surgery date! also: i love the new setup! i'm already looking forward to your next video :)
Thank you so much!!
It's crazy how much bigger the room looks just by moving the desks! Man, I'm so in need of a clear out too, so this is some good motivation. I'm a big believer in having different spaces for different tasks/headspace. My music and side-job both happen in the same room, and one of the best decisions I made was to set up a screen at my piano for music practicing! I know that when I'm sat there, it's ONLY music. Really helps with getting into that headspace. Also having as much stuff as I can setup and ready to go with minimal obstacles has been a godsend. I describe it as inertia, I kinda get stuck in one mode, so the less I have to do to push myself in another direction when starting a new task the better
oh my gosh 100% relate on the task inertia thing! The fewer obstacles between yourself and the task, the easier it is for sure. And the seperate spaces for different tasks, tbh my dream is to have a studio that's it's own place outside my home for maximum work / rest seperation but that's a long way off
my office/workspace is a MESS. not even a hot mess.. just a messsss congrats on surgery im new here, hi
We've all got a lot of mess to work through it seems. Welcome, and thank you!
I work amongst piles and plushies and figures. Like I have Sakura Kinomoto figure and Luz Noceda plush doll, cause that's the happy, anything is possible energy I want to surround myself with. Or for my graphic memoirs, I have this specific. Define The Relationship stand to visualize how open and candid can I be. I mean, it's playful and colorful amongst the collections. I like anything at me. My surrounding being on a kitchen table with windows in front of me and back of me. I guess I like it messy cause my strict mom keeping me on a line since 3. And only been healing since last year. Great space, I like how harmonious it became. More cute and cozy. And i couldn't stop staring at your cute Piplup plush.
Thank you for the comment, it's so nice to hear about other people's workspaces
Hi, don´t usually make YT comments. But this struck me like Thors hammer (mew mew ;) I've had my autism diagnosis for about 2 years (I´m 40ish) and I'm trying to understand more because I´m constantly questioning it. This has been a big problem all my life. I want to sort things but I´m overwhelmed by the stuff I've collected. I have problems throwing stuff away, even the packaging that I think could be useful in the future. I collect many things connected to nostalgia growing up. My digital collection of information is too much to sort. I've had all my pictures and videos since my Iphone 3Gs on my later Iphones so I can pull them up and remember what I did in the past. I have maxed out all my tabs on my Iphone (500 tabs). On my computer I have, at this time, 45 browsing windows with 2-30 tabs in each. My YT "watch later" would take a lifetime to go through. And then all the playlists created. All things I want to learn or create. I never create anything anymore but that is my goal with all the information. I switch interests a lot, but I have some core interests that I cycle through. I get stuck in small areas of those interests and even the subjects can be overwhelming and exhausting when I realize how much information there is to learn. I guess that is why I´m hoarding info so much. - Save it for later when I have the stamina to learn. I think structured learning would help a lot, but that is not how my brain works when I get obsessed. Depression makes the collecting worse and I've ended up in situations (e.g) where I have 10 or so ghettoblasters/boomboxes and vinyl players taking up space in my apartment. I don´t use them but I love the design and I want to own them and look at them up close. Then the anxiety sets in when I've spent money on useless things that I could have spent on better things or other interests when my interests change. Clutter-anxiety is also a factor when I cant organize and manage the space. When I was a child I could sit for hours organizing and reorganizing my drawer with my trinkets.. trinkets I still own today.....😅 I constantly feel that I lack knowledge, all knowledge. I remember when I was a child and coming to the conclusion that you can not learn everything, I got sad, a bit depressed and angry. As a child I also cried when I didn't get all the answers correct on tests or getting the highest grades. Now I have a problem with perfection to the point that it is debilitating and I can´t finish what I started before exhaustion sets in. And if I manage to complete it I'm never satisfied and can't let it go. No one has ever put pressure on me or demanded me to perform at the highest level. It is all "self inflicted". I don´t know if this could be a depression/hoarder thing or common with neurotypicals, and not connected to autism, but at least it is nice to see others with the same diagnosis talk about it. Thank you, and everyone else for sharing! (Now I've spent 4 hours or more making this post reading it over and over again to make sure It's somewhat readable. I know it is too long to read. I don´t even read posts this long hahaha. English is not my native language. Guess I now know why I´m not making TH-cam comments.)
