Nikko Hellgrammite vs Nikko Leech... The battle for summertime bass begins!!!
In this product review, the Nikko Hellgrammite & Nikko Leech go head-to-head to see which Nikko soft bait smallmouth bass prefer most during hot summer days.

You literally had 3 cuts in the first 15 seconds
What state are you in?
I’m in Ohio
@@RedcheckerFishing ahh i knew it was a Midwestern state!
@@rollingolden1013 😁
That's exactly how that works
True definition of just the tip
No cuts lol
It's a zebco that did it
Just yesterday, I had one snap fresh 12lb test at the tip of the pole. You get maybe one monster a year where I'm fishing, and basszilla as I call him has a 7-0 winning streak with 3 snapped poles including 2 Ugly stick pistol grip poles! 😢
The emotional battery stays with you forever.
So many cuts
He had a cut right when he said that he won’t have cuts
I snagged a cheap jig/grub by increasing my drag too 100 and snapping it. I retied a punch bait, as it was 30lb braid. I forgot to set it back and snapped on a hookset on a MONDO largemouth. I waited in frustration and retied again. She swallowed it again! I was flipping her over the breakwall and the grass on the line released the hookset and she fell as i fell to my knees. Ill never know how big it truly was.
I have a couple lost ones that haunt me to this day 🥺
I lost a 15 pound rainbow trout yesterday
Lost a toad of a largemouth yesterday I feel this😢
I was speckled trout fishing and hooked a huge like 24 inch trout and my buddy missed the net and he popped off
We never remember the ones we land or catch. We only remember the ones that get away.
That’s deep on so many levels!
@@RedcheckerFishing 💯. Just like all the women that got away 😂. o ya and the fish as well. Lol.
Had a 3-4 pound bass spit out my ned rigged yamamoto zako today, he jumped out the water-wiggled- and my bait came flying towards me
Man that hurts! Plus, it even got you with the “return to sender” move! Talk about insult to injury!
@@RedcheckerFishing didn't think of that way till now, sucker threw me a kiss and everything🤣
@@Xplzit 🤣🤣🤣
What rod is this?
It’s the Zebco Slingshot 5.6 Medium Light
That 25 dollar Amazon pole!! Got tons of trout on that bad boy lol
Yessir! Works well for me in small creeks!
Obviously not since your getting manhandled by that fish@RedcheckerFishing
@@ds-zd9qz 😂
I literally just saw this video while I was scrolling. I literally hooked a 9 pound catfish but then I got away.
That hurts! 😩 Try to keep your head up, and lines tight, because the best is yet to come! 12 pounder on the way! 😃
right hand reels are diabolical to me
Agreed
Nice fish also do you have fishing planet or a Playstation
Thanks!.. I’ve seen the game, but never played it. Looks fun!
I have that same rod, but i use it for bluegill. Its so fun to fish with...
They are so much fun to fish with!.. I’m all in for a good fight, that’s why I’ve been sticking to an ultralight set-up lately! Talk about the thrill between power and skill!
💞Wow🧡🧡🧡🧡💜💜💜💜
The fact he jus pulled that rapala out without pliers bro has no fear
😂
What camera do you use?
I’m not sure if I can disclose this industry secret…. But it’s an iPhone 😂
O ok. 😂
Is that Walmart? They have an Ozarktrial frog...2$
Yessir it is!.. Are the Ozark Trail frogs any good?
You should have been using the Magma leech 🤔
I’ve had real good success with the Obsidian color leech, that’s why I was expecting the Eclipse color to do better than what it did on this video. Now you have me curious to see how the Magma color would perform?!?! Thanks for the tip!
What a video bro can’t wait for the next one ☝️
Thanks Bro! The fun is just getting started! Let’s go!!!
Hellgrammite for the win! Let’s go!!
😂
beautiful smallmouth man!! hope ur hand is feeling better (: i subbed!!!!!
It was a nice Smallie! It put up a great fight too, that’s why I was so amped! Hand is great now! Lol! Thanks for subscribing!
@@RedcheckerFishing Hell Yeah!!!!! Im glad to hear that man, keep up the good content (:
awww shit hahaha gotta be careful, beautiful smallie you got there brother (: subbed!
Yessir! LOL! Thanks for subscribing!
@@RedcheckerFishing oops i thought my comment didnt go through LMAO
Bro u did that to yourself all u had to do was raise the rod 😂
I agree, it was totally my fault! 😂 I knew better than to grab the line the way I did, but I got too excited, and paid the price for it! LOL!
What did you cut yourself on??
I accidentally jabbed my hand on the spiny dorsal fins. They are the first set of dorsal fins which are located on the top of the bass near the head. I got myself pretty good! LOL! 😂
Wow
It was a rush!!! 😂
Nikko makes awesome products.
Yes they do!… I just finished putting the Nikko Hellgramite & Nikko Leech to the test on the river. Pretty exciting stuff! New video coming soon!!!! Stay tuned👍🏽
Nice one. Also, you got any tips for me, I’m trying to catch my first bass
Same I’m trying to catch a bass but I don’t know what bait to use and I don’t know how big of a hook to use
I must warn you, bass are so fun to catch and once you start, you’ll be hooked! Lol!.. To answer your question, a good rule of thumb is to keep things SIMPLE... Begin by finding a body of water where bass are confirmed to live. You can use Google Maps to help search for bass fishing spots near you. Remember that bass don’t typically hang out in the open waters because they are ambush predators that like to hide under cover, and/or around vantage points. Target the areas that would make a good hiding spot for bass, like trees, lilly pads, and bends or points in the banks of that body of water. Lastly, don’t rush into fishing, but take a moment and carefully observe that body of water and try to identify what type of things the bass may be eating in that body of water such as: insects, crawfish, frogs, worms, and other small fish. If you use the natural baits that are found in that body of water, or if you mimic those baits with artificial lures, you are sure to catch your first bass and many more!!! Nice!
I appreciate all the support! Thank you!
What colors? Look to be shad based if the shine i see is right…
This is the Rapala X-Rap (XRO6) in Silver. I have several X-Raps in variant colors and sizes, and they all perform well, but for some reason, this 2-1/2” silver color does better for me then the others. Here’s a link for more: www.rapala.com/us_en/x-rap?childSku=us-XR06S

These catch and release guys are not doing anything good by only catch and release you are actually part of the problem.
What else is bro supposed to do ?
What are you on? There’s no problem with catch and release. It’s a sport.
Man is this dude trippin or did he just say that not killing a fish was worse than killing a fish

Hurting an animal for fun is cruelty to animals...
Nice fish👍
Thanks!… Smallies are such a rush to catch! Especially on an ultralight setup!

Is that the Flint River in Alabama?
The Flint River and Tennessee River system is on my list for potential future freshwater fishing trips, however this creek is a couple of states north in Southwest Ohio; a tributary of Caesar’s Creek Lake.
In the end show us what lure you are using
I was trying not to get myself hooked, LOL! All kidding aside, I see your point and I really appreciate your feedback! I will make sure to give a clearer presentation going forward! 👍🏽 In the mean time, here’s the Rapala X-rap that I was using in the video: www.rapala.com/us_en/x-rap?childSku=us-XR06S
Creek 💀
Got’em! LOL! 🎣
Shit ain't never worked for me. I just go to the opposite end of where I was reeling in and yank that way, comes out every time.
I agree, that’s another effective method to use, especially whenever you are able to access the opposite end! Thank you for sharing!
There's the old used spark plug method too. Put it in your line and send it down. Bang into the lure backing it up a bit. Freed up? If you lose it too? Who cares it's a trash spark plug
I’ve never heard of that one, but I can honestly see it working! Now the question is, where did I put those old spark plugs!🤔😁 Thank you for sharing!
@@RedcheckerFishing Maybe I can help everyone? Tips/Tricks. Carfishing try a "flapper bait." Esp for flatheads. Treble hook is a adv. Hook bait fish between the eyes up a bit forehead deep into skull. Even as a UNexposed hook point is a mistake a treble you can sacrifice one strictly as a bait holder. This method gives 100% strike confirmation if they ever steal the bait, they MUST hit it hard. Filet the bait from the tail end both sides but leave it attached to the head. If any current hook method facing forward it'll "flap around" almost like it's trying to swim. Maximum blood guts scent & flapping vibration. Tie off your rods or lose them esp at night. The strike is vicious.
@kennethlocke4213 That is a great catfish tip indeed! Very effective!!! Thank you for sharing!
We have a creek here in western North Carolina with redeyes
That’s great news! As a fellow Angler, I always enjoy seeing our great American river systems clean and healthy! Thank you for sharing!
Benthic macro invertebrates are the best indicator of water quality. Basically insects that live on the bottom of rivers you can see without magnification. Seeing stone fly larvae is an indicator of clean water, leeches are an indicator of dirty water.
That’s amazing! I can honestly say that I’ve never stopped to link macroinvertebrates to the health and quality of a river’s ecosystem. As an angler, I’ve only really considered macroinvertebrates for the purposes of bait selection for target species of fish, failing to take it a step further to ask, why? This is a potential game changer! Thank you for taking the time to share and add value today! Many blessing, and fish on Redchecker!
Not true
Red eye rock bass are sensitive to water conditions, so it is indeed true
I thought trout was a sign and freshwater prawn. Never heard of rockbass indicating a clean river system plus i caught them out of the most dirtiest stagnant places before.
I agree, you are also correct! Like you, I was surprised to learn from another fellow Angler, that this certain genospecies of the “Rock Bass Family” are more sensitive to water conditions than others. This particular genospecies of Rock Bass - The Ambloplites rupestris (AKA: Red-eyed Rock Bass) - is one of the genospecies that seem to require significantly less stream pollution and higher concentration of oxygen in order to thrive. Similar to trout, this is why this particular little guy is another great species of fish you hope to find in your rivers and creeks. If you’d like to learn more, please check out this really good article from Mossy Oak that was published last year. www.mossyoak.com/our-obsession/blogs/fishing/species-profile-redeye-bass Many blessing and fish on Redchecker!
