If he's advanced/loves Math, have you tried Beast Academy? My daughter will be going into Grade 3 this year but completed Apologia 3 in February. I got her Beast Academy Level 2A(there are A, B, C, D) to see how she likes it this summer. We're working through it and it's an interesting mix of stuff she gets right away and other stuff that really challenges her but in a good way. I've even had to look over the hints/answer key to figure out how to solve a few problems but that's ok. They have an online program too but we haven't tried that. I'm considering Math Mammoth this coming year.

Spelling Connections worked great for my son. His spelling improved so much. We're trying Word Roots this year too. Our main language arts we're using is Lightning Literature.

Iggy's House is good. Though when we did MBTP, I think one of the projects has you being a white reporter interviewing the characters or something...i don't remember all of the details, but we just did a small report/essay on lessons my daughter learned from the story, how it made her feel, what she would have done in certain situations. I have no problem with any race or skin color... It was just something about the way it was worded that didn't sound quite right to us.

Your son may like Math Mammoth or Beast Academy for math. We use Apologia for the hands on activities and Math Mammoth as our main.

Oh wow! You DO have a lot of stuff. Curriculum shopping can get very addictive, very fast lol. I keep wanting to get Handwriting w/o Tears & Explode the Code, but I’m trying (TRYING) to keep it simple. I bought TGTB for Math, LA, & handwriting. However we won’t start LA until next “semester”. We’re focusing on AAR for this semester first. For us, it’s too much to do both reading & LA together, so we’re breaking it up, 1 each semester. We’re also year-round schoolers; smaller lessons each day (well 4-6 days a week) all year round. We’ve completed that green reading comprehension book & I really liked it, I need to get the next level. Great choices mama!!!

My vote is with Essentials for Writing. We have used it this year and my boy loves it. My boy watches the day's lesson (5-10min max) ànd then works on the corresponding lesson. It frees me from teaching and lesson are excellently introduced ...

I love your curriculum choices! We have quite a few of the same for our first grader, but I definitely want to snag a few of the other choices you picked.

I used Abeka for grammar last two years, it's very repetitive. This year, I'm trying Michael Clay Thompson Grammar Island to switch it up.
