Any person that fights for his country no matter is standpoint is a decent person for that alone.
Are you doing more interviews with Jim? Amazing if so, he's a wealth of knowledge.
Fascinating stuff, brilliant upload!!
I haven’t heard of this group 🇮🇪
About time there was a history of republican groups apart from the provisionals....
It was formed by Liam Kelly and my granda Phil Odonnell just incase you didn’t know
Memories memories
Beautiful song, beautifully sung… very understated group, loved them ♥️♥️
💚💚💚💚
Very interesting history of a pipe band with a noble and proud background…..we in Scotland seldom hear of this connection…..for a variety of reasons - none of them worthy. Thanks for putting this online. Not too many Scots care to acknowledge that the big pipes originated in Ireland…..the home of the gaels. Again, many thanks.
It's a shame they were not recognised as much as they should have been , the reluctant patriot and the johnstons travelling people in my opinion are two of the best album's from that period ...thank's for posting this !
They were a great group back in the late 60s when Davy Burke and Eddie McxGinley were part of the group.
Brilliant Rendition 👏
Just came across this group Absolutely Brilliant 👏
This is brilliant 👏
This is now a favourite of The Supporter's of Glasgow Celtic F.C 🍀🍀🍀
That is great news about this anti-fascist song.
I've never heard of this group do you have any information about them, what a great rendition

The McGarrity Papers: Revelations of the Irish Revolutionary Movement in Ireland and America, 1900-40 by Sean Cronin. War in the Shadows: The Irish-American Fenians Who Bombed Britain by Shane Kenna, who died aged 33 in 2017.
Irish Rebel: John Devoy and America’s Fight for Irish Freedom, by the author, Terry Golway, first published in 1998 in New York.Times of London, in its obituary in 1928, called “ Devoy the most dangerous enemy of [the British Empire] since Wolfe Tone”. (The 2016 edition has been streamlined by removing long explanations of Irish history unnecessary for an Irish audience)

So much BS in this video .The $ is a bad thing ?no is not ,Eu will be better without all time crying racist Uk , Trump will fulfil the free money tree dream of Uk .China /India will crush Uk in any other deals.GDP size and number of people will always matter in a deal . There are no pirates, no islands to conquer and to rob the poor people, no Africans that need to be robed again and again by UK.

RIP Alan, a great man, always an inspiration.
I'm sure the Tinkers performed 'Carrickfergus' on RTE's Late Late Show on Christmas Night, 1967.
I'll correct myself. That should be 1965.
This was a fantastic meeting, thanks so much for Hosting
one is still on the planet
If Mick Flynn would do an interview about his musical history going back to the early 1960.
Troy Kennedy Martin's sister, Maureen is still about I believe...
The Tinkers played at our local folk club a number of times (The King's Head, in Hammersmith) back in the 60's. Somehow I misplaced this LP when I moved, so this upload has brought back some great memories... Thank you
Do you remember the strike by corporation tradesmen in the 1970's ? You should... brcause YOU PASSED THE PICKET>!!!!!
Peader, I don't know how I've missed this until now. Absolutely loved it. My father, Willie Doyle was born in Georges Street on 4th August 1928 and moved to Chapel Lane at the age of 7 in 1935 where he lived until marrying my mother - Mary Keogh from Blacktrench. I bet you know him ? He played for Sarsfields when they won the double, I still have his gold medal. Mum and Dad have sadly passed now. Some of Dads friends as a child - Jack Lavelle, Joe Kearns, The Boiler White, John Johnson (later the owner of The Liffey Arms), Buddy Cavanagh, Foxy and The Mumm Ryan etc etc etc.. He went to school with Con Cummins, Joe Douane and Ned Whitely. So many other names I can't remember without prompting.. Dad worked as a delivery driver for Floods and did a stint in The Ropes. He came to England in the mid 50's where he had his family. I was born in 1960 and remember Newbridge from my yearly trips back then. Oh how wonderful. I remember it as a one sided town, the abbotoir, the Blacksmiths in the back street and Joe Kearns sweet shop. Dad told me of the frozen Liffey in 39/40. I could write forever of my memories and my Dads fond ramblings. Joe Barry RIP amongst many others. My Godmother Anna Ryan. I'm over next month to visit my brother and sister (brother in Liffey View and Sister in Dominic's Park). Maybe we could meet up in Cummins for a pint and a good old chat ? Thank You and God BlessPaul Doyle

"We Only the Want the Earth" by James Connolly from the James Connolly Song Book, edited by Connolly and published 1907. No air or tune was indicated and it has been put to a number of tunes over the years. I sing it to the air of a "A Nation Once Again" by Thomas Davis in the 1840s, which also supplies a chorus for others to join in. I first heard it sung to that tune many years ago in London by a group of musicians and singers including Cornelius Cardew, of the CPE (m-l), who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in an incident without any witnesses.
