Mushing Ep 2
มุมมอง 3374 ปีที่แล้ว
Some footage of our sledding adventure to celebrate the new year. Happy New Year!
😎 cool thanks
Very nice 👍🏼
Wow! Thank you!!
Nice erection
I made this. Works perfectly
Wonderful! Thanks for the feedback
I have 8 months old Siberian husky he understands mushing language. When is gonna be the best time for him start pull and teach him
I general have them start dragging objects (piece of wood, tire, etc.) on walks. This will start to teach them that the pressure from the harness is a good thing. around a year, you can start having them pull more and even use a bike. Good luck!
Love it!! My husband and I got some Alaskan malamutes and we're excited to train them!
That is awesome! Welcome to the dog sledding world!
Perfect, thanks 💚👍
what if we didn't need commands at all! best high drive dog exercise rig ever- freedom to gooo under excellent steering and dog control- the rider steers the dogs- no commands needed- the dogs ADD stability to the scooter- you don't crash with this design- on or off road- even on busy urban sidewalks and or single track dirt trails- also good for agro, deaf and or Blind dogs- d o g p o w e r e d s c o o t e r
This is so awesome! Tried it out today and works great.
Thank you!
Thanks for this super helpful video! How long would you recommend the attachment/line be from your attachment to the dog's harness?
I would say around 6/7 feet. You’ll want space between the dogs and the bike to be safe, but do not want it too long either.
Thanks for this. Spending 70€ on a antenna when there wasn't much to the design bothered me so this is perfect and will do it this weekend
Have you ever had problems with the thread from the eyelet coming out of the PVC while it gets pulled by the doggies?
Great question! I have not experienced any issues with the eyelet coming through. I have made about a dozen of these and have used my original one for 5 years now with the same piece of rope. If that is a concern, you could cut the eyelet so that it is not sticking through as much.
I am disabled and use a mobility scooter most of the time. This video has goven be some good ideas how to attach my dog to the scooter. Thank uou so much.
What line setup are you using? That's nice
Thanks! Here is a link to a video of my homemade attachment. The lines I am using with the attachment are just my sledding lines that one with use with sledding. th-cam.com/video/fOSSClWz9Fc/w-d-xo.html
With the bungee around the handlebars, do you ever find the dogs pulling your steering away? Everything I see says to prevent attaching the leash to the handlebars but since its only the bungee idk if that's the same
Great question! No, I do not, the bungee is there to pull the PVC pipe out of the tires, they’re pulling the rope, which is attached to the frame of the bike, not the handlebars.
How do you stop them from peeing in every bush??? (Male dog)
I recommend keep pushing through and encouraging them to continue to run when they start the slowdown. Like most things, this is not an overnight fix, but takes time.
Simple and perfect.
Love the video mate. Where can we buy the harness and leads for Australians?

Fckn awesome video dude
any way to teach them to potty while running? or is it better to have them potty first and then only potty on breaks? mine can go on command so that’s what i normally have her do if we’ll be running, not sure if it’s the same for bikejoring
Great question! Yes you can train them to go while they run with bikes, sleds, ATV, etc. Even they know how to do it, I still recommend going before the actual run. The way I have taught is encouraging them to still run slowly while they go. This can be easier if they are running in wheel.
Thank you 😊
What age do you start training your dog
I usually start small training exercise around 6-9 months. This can be pulling a small 2x4 for 5 minutes on a walk. Just to introduce the feeling of pulling in a harness. Around a year they can be running with the bike or sled
Could you just use left/right ?
Yes you could. The most common is haw and gee, but whatever you want to say will be just fine.
do you have any tips on how i can motivate my dog to pull and stop him from sniffing everything???
One thing we did at the beginning was to have one person on a bike ahead of our dog (that was pulling another bike) to encourage/motivate. This is what we did. At first we would go 50 yards, then next time 1/4 mile, then miles, etc. This is what I found is best if you are training a dog solo. If there is another dog that is already trained, they’ll pick it up usually very quickly.
That's all
It's like they're in husky heaven
Alguien lo hizo??
thanks for the idea I just did it with my dog and works perfact, and had all I needed at home
Awesome ingenuity!
Thanks a lot. I just did it , I had all the materials at home
I didn't see any corrections
I love your videos, I hope you keep making more!
Thank You!
I'm looking to train my digs fir this. We have 1 yr old husky gsd lab mixes. Just found you and bikejoring videos this week!
You should not do this on asphalt. Otherwise the video was great.
Great video!!!!!! I’m just starting out with my 2 girls and this is so helpful!
Practicle but ugly.
It's not very elegant, but it works very well!
I just got a 8month Husky pup ..thank you ❤ somuch for making this video. I will be setting up something similar now .
Great video thank you! ❤😊
This was very helpful, but what is the dog needs to go potty? And what if they don't like water?
Another training exercise we do is train them to learn to go to the bathroom while running. This can take time to learn. We are still learning this. Juno does it a lot better than Timber. You can also make sure they get play time before to get poops and pees out. The water issue was a problem with my dogs to, but with consistency and a few scratches it will get better
@@TheHuskyHut Ok! Thank you
Love it. Simple starter antenna. Though I can't figure why you don't trim your line down to 6 foot. Those dangly rope ends would drive me nuts when I'm riding. Thanks heaps
Can I borrow Timber to train my husky?
Timber is fun dog to watch run for sure!
How to you get you dog to not to be scared of the bike and to pull?
Great question. Time is going to be the best factor. The great thing about bikejoring is that you get to build trust with your dogs. With time your dog will trust you more and more. When we first started, I would run in front and have the dog chase me while pulling someone else on the bike. This got her used to pulling and gaining that trust that we would stop and prevent the bike from hitting her.
Hello. I will make one because here in Argentina I can't! Thank you very much! Then, when is all that in place, what's going on? greetings from Argentina
Are your dogs able to whoa? Mine are eating brakes on bike rides and I'm curious how this works as we will try sledding next season. Ty for the great video!
My dogs slow down a little bit, but they would not stop completely without the brakes. My first bike went through brakes really quick, but over time the dogs will gradually improve with the command. We do practice all commands (on-by, haw, gee, hike, whoa, etc.) on our daily walks. Thanks for the support! Excited for your first winter on the sleds!
Is there a way to make something like this but fixed to one side so the I can take the dog but not have him pull me but rather just follow my lead beside me? Or do you feel if a dog is attached to a bike they should be allowed to pull? Maybe if they also weren’t wearing a harness? Thanks if you can answer this!
Great question! Pulling is just one of many ways you can bike with your dog. If you are interested in having your dog run alongside you (rather than pull you), this attachment might be a good place to start: www.amazon.com/Unicam-Retractable-Exercise-Essentials-Installation/dp/B08C9QVYCD/ref=asc_df_B08C9QVYCD/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459722389571&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2859071007901776147&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9029679&hvtargid=pla-1011513492957&psc=1 We haven’t trained our dogs to bike that way, but many people and dogs enjoy it.
Cool
That looks like a lot of fun. 😃
