Back in the 80s in London,i used to listen to an African American go go band called Trouble funk, they had a hit called "drop the bomb"and "pump me up", they had that same kind of go go sound, never heard of the junkyard band though

I was born in '77.. all the adults and young adults were so happy.. then comedy shows, Eddie Murphy, in living color-satires like school days (skool daze), and the dad from boys in the hood, left our people so pro black, that they couldn't advance, because they separated themselves, from the world, that would go on, without them.. have you ever considered that a slave market is a large number of people, who invest money, in books, art, and movies, that resemble the enslaved..????? If blacks write these books, to sell to other black people, then they have sold themselves, into slavery.. we once had enjoyment, like everybody else.. Y'all don't hear me smh no one ever has.. ever

They need a Legacy Award or the key to the city.

Remember them Days

2:30 People drinking looked young because in 1985 WDC drinking age was 18. Junkyard played 19th St because of Gooden Triangle critical mass of bars and foot traffic 1125 19th St NW the far left column holding up the building had one 3prong grounded outlet that was at the very front of the building. Unsecured, not locked, on all the time. They plugged in their keyboard there. I worked as a DJ at 1130 19th and saw them set up the first time in 1983. They played directly across the street from me until around 11pm.

Pure GREATNESS.

This genuine art form has unfortunately been been hijacked by Social Media and Tic Toc. I miss this style and performances like these young kids (no longer so young)

DC was the greatest city in the 1980s . Melting pot of all cultures and good vibes . Well , there were a few shootings , but for the most part , Awesome!

I worked on Northwest corner of this intersection from 2011 to 2020, and hung out there on and off from 1985 on. I recognize "Guisti's" and "Rumor's" both gone now. There was also a nice "KB" movie theater just west of intersection. What a great little time capsule! Thanks.
