ive recently inherited mine and have no idea how to use it, im only 20 and havent exactly grown up around these types of cameras. Im hoping to be able to get into it, as im quite into creative arts so would like to be able to take some photos, if anyone can be of assistance it would be much appreciated.

I am sorry. You are changing the shutter speed the wrong way. 1) you need to wind the film by making one full circle; this also cocks the shutter. 2) when the wheel stops by itself, you pull the whole wheel UP and then you change the speed. instead, you are forcing the wheel! it is painful to watch this.
Hi, it might not clear on the video but I am lifting the wheel up to turn it, its just stiff to turn. I am not forcing the wheel, it is being lifted up don't worry.

What Lens Are You Using?
To film the video or the lens on the pentax camera? The lens on the camera is the 135mm M series lens, I just used my Sanyo Xacti CG10 to film the video. I hope this helps.

I just received my Pentax ME-ii Winder from eBay, I will put it on my Pentax MV-1. So this video for me is really helpful, thank you so much. But also, I have a question before I use it. Should I take off those button batteries from the camera before I put the winder on?
You shouldn't have to take the batteries out of the camera to attach the winder, there is no reason for it but you do have to remove the small cap on the bottom, not the one that covers the batteries but the one that it below the winder mechanism. Hope that helps.
How do you change the camera to shoot manually?
When looking down at the camera, the dial on the right is where you change to shoot manually. If its locked (when the white button on the dial is up) then you need to press down the white button in order to move the dial to the "M". Hope this helps.
Thanks i just bought this camera from my job, as we do electronic recycling! $5.00 haha the only thing i couldn't figure out was how to switch modes, the white button trick worked perfectly! thanks so much! can't wait to get shooting with it this week!!!
OMG, it was filthy inside the film chamber
I have a winder me ii like yours but when turned on the motor is jammed it will keep turning and turning continuously and it won't stop. Any solutions and is this fixable at home?

What batteries and film do you recommend for this camera ?
The batteries that I have in this camera are 10L14 batteries. The manual says LR44 or SR44 batteries but 10L14 can also be used. I don't really favour one film over another, but if I'm using black and white I tend to use Ilford mainly because I have a lot of Ilford film laying around. Hope this helps.

It takes a flat button batteries, the ones it has right now is an AG13 batteries, I've never used anything different than that

That 35-70 is one of the hidden gems of the F series. A true stack-o-primes.
Is this a good beginners film camera? I know very little about a digital one and photography itself but want to get a film camera to learn the basics. Would this be ideal?
I would say so yes, this was my first camera and learnt the basics on this before i got a digital SLR

that is for exposure compensation
What are the numbers on the left side with the rewinder?
That's the exposure compensation dial. The ¼ means one quarter stop, the 2x means double. You'll use that when you're shooting a scene that you think might fool the light meter (e.g. a snowy landscape)

Hi, you change the speeds with the 2 buttons beside the dial that changes the modes. When in manual mode if you look through the viewfinder you will see the speeds down one side and you use those buttons to set the shutter speed. Hopes this helps

I don't know if they can be used with canon cameras with an adapter, i think that they might be able to but i'm not completely sure. I know that they can be used with modern Pentax DSLR cameras. Sorry i couldn't be anymore help than that.

do you know what the difference is between the og winder (1.5) and the winder 2? this was also my first camera, my favorite
It was about £25 from Silverprint (a UK based company), they also sell the raw chemicals too, but i thought i would try the kit out first and it if i like it i'll get more chemical later

Nice kit! How much is it? I use the Photographers' Formulary cyanotype kit. When I run out I'm just going to buy the chemicals.
