Getting rid of all gas cars would not dent the impact on the environment to any significant degree when only a few dozen cargo ships already create about 100x more emissions yearly then all cars combined (may be exaggerated but im sure you understand the point im getting at). Plus offsetting the environmental impact of extracting materials for, building and fueling a single electric car takes decades, and not to mention that many electric cars need battery replacements every 5-10 years that can cost from 20-40 thousand dollars, and I haven't even gotten into the infrastructure needed to support electric cars. Did you know that California is the only US state that you can realistically drive an electric car through, finding enough charging stations to keep the car alive? leave the state and you won't make it far without meticulously planning your route or hoping to find random outlets to plug into. Did you also know that California regularly has energy grid blackouts and doesn't allow the charging of ev cars for weeks at a time? As it is cars are not producing much emissions at all. Your regular Amazon purchases probably create more emissions than your car does when factoring in transportation. For some reason, the powers that be just don't seem to like those of us who love cars and want to destroy our hobby as there are many solutions that would reduce the already miniscule emissions of personal transport, like synth fuels and ethanol that wouldn't require a grand restructuring of our entire infrastructure, wouldn't require existing combustion vehicles to do much more then an injector swap, a fuel system cleaning, and in extreme cases like hydrogen combustion, a new fuel tank, and would open up a ton of new jobs and industries. But no, they want want to punish those who enjoy vehicles instead of the companies carelessly shipping and flying products to and from continents to save money.

Fun fact; atmospheric damage has and will continue to be undone as time goes on, you know what hasn't? Lithium mines. Each Tesla does more damage to the EARTH and the ground it's made of, than gas cars will do to the atmosphere. Why? Because emissions can be fixed. Lithium can't be replaced. Go look at pictures of lithium mines and tell me that they're the better alternative.
