Important note: my camera is flipped (sorry!) so you unfortunately cannot see my left foot (but what appears to be my right foot) playing the pedals; it's all almost entirely my left foot being in the lower range of the pedal board. I'm playing Olivier Messiaen's epic organ piece, Apparition de l'église éternelle, written in 1932. I'm playing on one of the biggest organs in the United States. T...

Kafka Vocalises mvt 1

"Dread of Night, Dread of Not-Night," is a Franz Kafka quote which has been set to a solo voice piece by Marie Herrington. This recording was made in the basement of the oldest post office building in Baltimore, which is an incredibly haunting space right next to the train station. The train and road noises add to the eerie effect of this piece along with the void-like acoustics.

amazing
This seems like a very fine organ. Thank you for sharing your beautiful and impressive music with us.
amazing
Hi, you are a true master on the organ. 👍 Are you a concert organist? I am glad that I found you here and I subscriebed you 😊. Kind regards Alex.
Hi Alex! This is such a sweet message, this truly made my day. I wish I was a concert organist, that’s such a high compliment! I spend a lot of time improvising and that seems to be the basis of how I compose things. I will definitely post more organ improvisations! Hope you have a great day
Ok Abby Fischer LOL.
Without a doubt one of the most beautiful renditions I've ever heard👏
thank you so very much!
Enjoy your music and improv so very much! You sounded wonderful! Please place the camera lower and to the side of the console on future videos, so that we can watch that impressive footwork on the pedal keyboard too. Thanks much!
Beautiful 👏
❤❤❤❤
This is a prime example of an instrument that's way too big for the room -- particularly a room that has the acoustic properties of a broom closet.
I was wondering about the acoustics too! Certainly makes it hard for me to make these chord changes, my hands are small and I can barely play any of these chords legato
This gives me zampogna vibes. (Italian bagpipes). Check 'em out, they're a huge staple genre on my channel.
awesome!!
@@marieherrington9494 For sure! If you type in "8 palmi" alongside 'Italian bagpipes', or maybe even the more common "6 palmi", which is a size designation, you'll be enthralled. My goal is to eventually get myself a 6 palmi. For context, most pipers play 3 palmi sizes, even including several women pipers ("Zampognaradonne"). It's not on my channel but there's also a clip of 11-year-old boy on a 4.5 palmi. The smallest type is called "Surdulina" which has more of an SSAA sort of harmony to it, rather than the usual SATB sort of sound of your typical Italian pipes including the larger ones. There's a fascinating set of albums I appropriately named "Italian Pipes On Vinyl" and "Italian Bagpipes On Tape", which will highlight the different instruments via recordings from the 1980s and beyond into the 78 RPM era.
WOW, Beautiful!
What a beautiful piece of music sung by an equally beautiful soprano. And the pianist isn't bad either, meaning what a beautiful pianist too. Thanks for posting.
thank you so much, Mary! Means the world
HOLY MAZZILLO!!!!!! I just LOVE how extremely HOT your vibrato is, as always!!!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely some HUGE Abby Fischer vibes in there for sure!!!!!!!!

such a sweet comment! thank you so much for your kindness
Can you make more vocal warm-ups videos please and thank you i would appreciate it if you could 💗
Very well done, but is it a really a first? Quite a few miserable songs in 14th century France … and there’s Dowland’s “Flow my tears” and some of the older consort songs can plunge you into melancholy …
Not a first at all. I was just trying to think of a catchy title for the youtube algorithms. Also, thank you so much, and good point about the Dowland! He was incredible
@@marieherrington9494Semper Dowland, semper dolens … & what about Lawes’s OT vulgate original, Plorans ploravit in nocte … many blessings!
😢 Beautiful

Love it!
Great!
Wow, HOLY MAZZILLO! Bit afraid to mention this but I'll be brutally honest: just wish there was an age-appropriate girl like you with perfect pitch and a love for opera so I wouldn't feel so awful being freakin' single. LOL. And of course the words "Age-appropriate" are key here. Hate to say it but nobody wants me, and most age-appropriate girls hate opera even if it's a good hot coloratura. Every time I hear from someone like you I tend to get a little jealous 'cause it makes it feel like that's the only cool person left in the world. (To me, people with perfect pitch are exclusively cool).
😍😍😍😍
Wonderful! The first two measures remind me of Eric Whittaker, the last two measures of Jean Berger, and everything else in between of someone with a great musical imagination.
That is so kind, thank you Boyd!!
yooooo lol
Brilliant
Love and miss you Shaul!!
Wow, this is amazing! Love your harmonic approach. Beautiful singing as well.
Thank you sooo much 😁😁
I sea duh fishy!
Awwiiiiie this made me wanna go back to the aquarium hehe
Wow, HOLY MAZZILLO!! Love your HOT HOT HOT vibrato as always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're definitely giving me some serious Abby Fischer vibes! Totally reminds me of Abby's "Deh, Protegi Mi O Dio" song she did recently. Not sure if you can put links in comments but I know it's still up there. Tons of overdubbing / multitracking like this one, a super extensive range, hot vibrato, everything. If you prefer, I can text you the link on Facebook 'cause I think we're still on Facebook with each other.
This is pretty cool. My pianist sister who also has perfect pitch would LOVE this! Her favorite key happens to be C-sharp like this one. I don't generally have a favorite key 'cause my favorite bagpipes come in different keys, specially Italian zampogne. LOL.
HOLY MAZZILLO!! HOTTEST VIBRATO EVER!!!! Totally reminds me of Donna Coquilla! Maybe early Sarah Vaughan or early Ella Fitzgerald, maybe it even resembles Abby Riccards to an extent.
So much imagination!
Love ya Guangda 💕
Як Гарно!!! Дякую! ❤
