The struggle of looking for an accessible (ADA) appartment
For the last two months I've been helping my (ex) roommate move to Colorado from Oahu. It was always her dream to move to Colorado, and I'm glad she was finally able to do it. But, getting it all to work out was exhausting and stressful.

GoGo Mobility Scooter: Front wheel bearing replacement
มุมมอง 5K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Today I found out that the front wheel bearing had fallen apart. Within an hour I fixed it using a skateboard wheel bearing. It fit perfectly. This will not work with all wheels, but the front wheel on a 3 wheel scooter is small, and this is the type of bearing they use. Quick and easy fix.
GoGo Elite Mobility Scooter - Transaxle repair
มุมมอง 151K10 ปีที่แล้ว
The transaxle on my GoGo mobility scooter was broken a month before this. I did a quick fix, but I didn't quite put it back together properly. Here, I take it apart, and put it back together again. Sorry for the video length. I did cut out large chunks of it, still this is still pretty close to the entire build. Took me about an hour and 1/2.
GoGo Elite Mobility Scooter - Problems to expect, and how to fix them
มุมมอง 484K10 ปีที่แล้ว
Sheri has had this GoGo Elite mobility scooter for a few years now. Overall, it's been a great little scooter. However, like anything electronic - it has had a few issues; The stock battery is too small, it lurches, the battery doesn't charge, batteries don't work at all. I gloss over the problems we've had with it here, as I disassemble the major components.

    do yourselves a favor & next time you need batteries get lithium batteries but first check what is max size you can use on the unit I think the go go can have up to 12V 50AH. but check with pride or see if your owners manual says. with lithiums you drop half the weight of them you can almost double your range, & there by gain a bit in power & speed. I personally own 3 second hand scooters a Pride Ralley ( which is comparable to the Go Go) Victory (my first unit ) & now my Afikim c4 . I also do my own work as non of them have warranty so Parts prices are a bit outrageously over priced. But anyway I have litiums in all of them & I promise it will be a bit pricey but so totally worth it! great video . I'm a new fan

    I was riding my scooter and I had to go off of the sidewalk onto the grass and it just stopped. Has brand new batteries in it new fuses in it and I ended up having to push it home about six blocks, so what could be causing that

    • @marc.newman
      @marc.newman 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A connection loosened, and now electricity can't flow. The typical culprit is between the battery box and the sled. The battery is heavy and wobbles when you go over obstacles. This loosens the connections over time. I would look at the connections and squeeze the metal sleeves (in the connector) tighter with a pair of needle nose pliers (be gentle). The loose connection can be anywhere, but it's most likely going to be between two body pieces. The issue can also be in the brain, but that is far more unlikely. Also, be sure to check the fuse/breaker on the battery. It pops out when the battery is overloaded. Just push it back in.

      I make them when I think about it. I've never been very consistent. I just used standard manual-transmission grease from an auto parts store. I used high-temp grease, though it doesn't really matter. The scooter's transaxle doesn't get nearly as hot as a car's gear box, so high temp grease isn't really important. Though, it's not going to hurt anything either. 🤷‍♂

    • @marc.newman
      @marc.newman ปีที่แล้ว

      99% of the time it's that the connector between the battery box and the sled is corroded. Pick up the battery box and slam it back on to the sled, hard. When the scooter gets old, or is in a bit of weather, that connector comes loose. You can also use pliers to lightly squeeze the female connectors higher. If it's not that - it's some other wire or connection... probably on the bottom of the sled. Check for corrosion.

    What's the difference between a transmission the transaxel on

    • @HaoleDreamer
      @HaoleDreamer ปีที่แล้ว

      A transaxle is a combined transmission and differential. By strict definition, I don't believe that the scooter has a transaxle, as it's really only a differential. That said, the scooter's transaxle is the center component of the drive train. It contains the axle, drive shaft, and differential. Yes, it's missing gears, so it's not really a transmission. But, "is a single gear a gear?" If "yes" - then it is a transaxle. If not... then technically it is just a differential. Anyway, because of its purpose, and the fact that Go-Go calls it a transaxle... I call it a transaxle too.

  • @markwhitfield5412

    it should have CV grease in it, but any type will do, it never hurts to add a little oil in with it, as the wheel bearings at the ends of the axle tube don't see a lot of lube, most of the 4 mph axles have needle roller bearings at the wheels, when the dirt seal gives up water gets in and the needle bearing will rust, and then they jam up. a little oil will make its way down to those bearings. Not so important on yours as u have a separate support bearing on the shaft, but if you have the type where there is a long axle casing going all the way to the outer wheel bearing, then add oil.

    • @marc.newman
      @marc.newman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lever is to the brake. The lever is probably rusted/bound to the brake body. If you spray some WD40 on where it touches the brake - it may come loose. I wouldn't force it because the lever is pretty soft and will bend pretty easily.

    Is there any option to buy mobil scooter parts online besides monster scooter and the brand of the scooter?

    • @marc.newman
      @marc.newman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's wrong with buying from them? Too expensive? I've used non-working scooters for parts. That's probably the cheapest way to go, over time. Also, most cities have "mobility" stores. You can order parts through them. Though, that will always be the most expensive way to go. Other than the frame and plastic pieces (faring/battery box), most of the parts are not specific to the scooter. eg. A battery is just a battery (as long is it's good), there are many electric motors, and the transaxle is used in many scooters. I'm sure the control board is also standard. It doesn't really make sense for manufactures to engineer everything themselves when they can just buy the parts they need in bulk. The problem is finding the correct part. If you want a new motor - you'll need to find the manufacturer, then the model. This usually involves rifling through dozens (if not hundreds) of motor specs to find the one you need. Then, the manufacturer may not even sell it to you unless you buy 10 or more. Anyway, trying to find where to find the cheapest part is a rabbit hole. I've done it a few times, and have decided that buying a used scooter is way cheaper than anything else. You can get a decently working used scooter for $300/$400, which may be more than the one part you need, but you WILL need something else in the future, and having a spare scooter saves a lot of time and money.

    • @theab9128
      @theab9128 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marc.newman yes Monster Scooter is very expensive . My gut tells me that there is a company somewhere that makes after market parts. i just have to find it

    • @marc.newman
      @marc.newman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theab9128 There really isn't. monsterscooterparts.com is the cheapest retailer. If you really must have cheaper - you must find a manufacture of the part and buy in bulk. Nobody is making after market parts because mobility scooters are designed from available parts (except for the frame). So, there is no such thing as a "GoGo motor". GoGo doesn't make motors. All the parts are from all sorts of manufacturers, and if you can find the same manufactures - you can build a scooter for the same price that GoGo does... that is, as long as you buy in bulk. You're welcome to try to find a retailer cheaper than MonsterScooterParts, but you won't. They're doing exactly what you would have to do, "find manufacturers and buy in bulk". Being that you don't wnat to buy $10k worth of motors to get a good deal from the manufacture... it's cheaper to just let MonsterScooterParts make their profit (which is probably 1/2 the listed price). That said, if you do find someplace cheaper - let us all know. I'm not married to MSP.

    Will a larger battery allow a heavier person to use it?

    • @marc.newman
      @marc.newman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. A larger battery only allows for longer drive-time. The voltage will stay the same. The battery/motor are only part of the issue for a very heavy person. In this case, the Go-Go a pretty narrow scooter. I wouldn't feel safe on it if it was top-heavy. A very heavy person would want a wider wheelbase for taking turns or being on a sloped grade.

    I've got a rebadged Go-Go, (Apex Rapid) it stopped driving but motor was still running. Stripped it just as this gent has done, in my case the two needle bearings on the short axle broke up, there should be a heavy thrust bearing/washer just inside the gear box that the dowel pin through the axle bears upon, then the 45' drive gear sits on the axle with the pin inside it in two notches. In my case I don't believe there was ever a thrust bearing, so two new needle bearings, grease seal and drive pin required, about £25.

      This is probably a loose connection. The battery/sled connection is the weakest link. It's possible to tighten up the connection a bit. If you look at the metal female ends you'll see that they're spread a little. You can squeeze them closed a little. Of course, this isn't really a fix, as the metal will just get weaker, but it will work for a little while longer.
