Great tip on the aberdeen hooks! Found some sneel tied ones in my grandfathers tackle box. They set great and are really easy to remove. Caught two fat bluegills today on my 2nd homade hand reel. This has been a lot of fun I love your videos.

It’s crazy because I made this exact gold one but I put a circle hook on it because that’s what I had on me but very nice all the same!!

You ever think about using circle hooks? I use small size 6 and 8 circle hooks. I also have 4s and 2s but I’m just asking if you ever use them.

I have got the most super hobo handline that you ever saw. Got the basic design from Blackie Thomas and improved on it. Guess what? I have not yet had a chance to take it down to the big dam yet and won't until Summet because we've had flood rains here and even in Summer the approach to the big dam is very marshy. I did this yesterday! I built my own handliner out of an old walking stick I had. Went out an caught a bunch of blugill with worms from my yard on a bobber. THe casting is so satisfying. Kinda proud of myself. Even caught a turtle who wanted one of the blugill more than me. Thanks for the inspiration!!! Super fun. Wish I could post pics. I'll follow on Insta.

Also sad but true tip if you are REALLY desperate you can likely find line and a hook around your local fisheries, picking them up is a great way to help. Nice catches those will be a good meal for you and the dogs.
