An easy way to mount your new Cameras with out messing up your soffit.
I used this method as well ordered pieces from ebay awesome
Dude you’re my hero 😂 just saved 30 bucks just for someone to put it in.
Hiya Jim…. I wanted to give you a huge THANKS for your video on the Ranger Lariat side mirror covers!… (the comments are turned off on that one, so I clicked on your name & other videos & found this one). Anyhow, I got those same dark/smoked lens sequential LED turn signals for my truck, graphite like yours… & all the videos I could find had English guys pulling the mirror forward & showing the tabs behind them… well, mine has 4 torx screws, 1 at each corner behind the mirror. Anyhow, after watching your video, I installed my new turn signal assemblies in minutes & they look GREAT!!… So thanks again brother!!…. May God bless you & yours Sir! 🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼
Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize that and have turned them on. Glad I could help you
Great way to do it ...
I wish i could mount a sensor garage light underneath or near the gutters. I think the light is too heavy.
If you get a wider piece of aluminum, you could mount an electrical box to it and should be fine. I have bought some different sizes on ebay for different needs
That's a very good idea I have the same problem I going to melt my cameras like you did thanks for the info..
how is the wire getting behind the soffit without any holes drilled? You're just tucking in behind? No pinching on the wire? No deformation to soffit?
Good stuff 👏
Fantastic Idea and helped me come up with an idea to use an angle mount that fits in the corner of the soffit instead across. I will probably do it both ways with the rest of the cameras. I did buy a very large 16x zoom PTZ camera and I am unsure how I am going to mount it as its very heavy. probably should be mounted to wood, but I dont want to put holes into the house
great video. Now I'm wondering how did you run the wires?
How wide is that aluminum and how thick? Trying to pick some out at home depot and wanted a reference.
2 in. x 36 in. Aluminum Flat Bar with 1/8 in. Thick 357 (921)
@@jimodell7644 thanks. I found some pre-cut pieces on amazon, with 1/8 thick and 1/4 thick pre-cut to 12 inches long which is just the right amount of my soffit i think.
Very nice; great idea! You wouldn’t happen to have a more detailed parts list?
I am about to head to home depot right now. Thanks a bunch!!!
6 years on and still helping peeps. Thanks for sharing your inspiration sir.
I was racking my brain to my wits end getting my cameras up...no way it should have been that much of a hassle...but here we are
Very clever! Thank you!
Genius
Excellent idea and video. Thank you
Big thanks for the idea, from up here in Canada! I naturally pretended it was mine to look clever 😂
Thank you! You solved my dilemma. I didn't want to screw into soffit or siding.
Thanks for posting this. I did something similar, I used 2 2" aluminum flat bars, I greatly appreciate this idea as I am trying a few camera positions and it sure beats drilling holes in the soffit panels and then finding out your positioning isn't quite right. I also being a mechanic drilled and tapped holes in the aluminum flats for machine screws (6/32) instead of using self tapping screws with the pointed end sticking out.
Superb idea. will this enough for the winters, Alberta gets -40C in peak winter, especially the overhanging of the cables. The camera cables aren't winter proof as per the instructions in the box i suppose. Please assist !
Thanks for the idea, I am using a piece of 1x3 wood piece to do something similar, just painted it to match the house. Then, I will screw that into the 2x4's behind the soffit's but not so tight to disrupt the soffits too much. then mount the camera to the wood.
Out of all the Jim Odells in the world, you are the Jim Odelliest.
Thanks that made me laugh. Glad I can help.
@@jimodell7644 lol thanks for the advice.
I think it’s a great idea. I actually did the same using vinyl clips on the side of the house so I didn’t have to drill holes. Not too sure how long that paint will last though.
Brilliant thank you!
Good idea. I'm going to do this with mine now. Thanks for sharing.
Very helpful . I rented a house for almost 10 and was trying to find a way to install a battery wireless camera without damaging the vinyl siding. Awesome idea . Thanks for sharing
Use blink cameras. 💯 % wireless 😊
Great video! How do you keep them charged? I don’t see the cords plugged in.
Finally, a great idea to hang from soffit, although, not looking to hang a bird feeder, i want to hang a decorative spinner, and I'm very particular of where I want it to hang, I love sitting out in my back deck & looking at something whimsical, I saw a site online, that sells a soffit hanger, which costs around $15, but i can't even call out to the company, I beleive they don't even ship to the U.S. I think they are in Canada, but I am definitely going to start on this idea, Thanks so much.
Genius! This is exactly what I needed!
what is this kind of metal called at lowes?
Just installed using this method. Worked perfectly. Thanks for the idea.
Genius
Jim, how long is that stud rod? 36 inch??
The total length I made is 26 inches with eyelet.
thank you for this idea!!!! I'd been searching for a solution for my hanging problem. I just moved to central Florida area where all the houses have this same narrow eaves & soffits to most all houses and they're not strong enough or wide enough to hold a hummingbird feeder. So I'd been searching for an idea. I don't like the idea of the sheppard's hook you stick in the ground. There's no shade and weather cover for the birds. This way, they have some sort of shade/weather protection. Thanks for posting!
I did this for my new Eufy cams. WoW aluminum is twice the price. However your idea worked. These are heavy cameras. Not nice and firm. Thanks
Clean install! I like it.
Perfect time for me to find this!! I'll be working on mine this weekend!
This is awesome. Thanks for posting.
brilliant
Good idea!
I needed a little information on how I was going to install my new Eufy Cam 3 solar cams. This may work. I really don’t want to drill holes in my vinyl siding. They are pretty heavy, so 1/4” steel bars may make it more sturdy. We’ll see
This os such a practical idea and easy thanks for the cool idea.
Jim-------Great idea. I will be doing that at my house for my new cameras. Well done!!
Used this for some of my Arlo camera installs. Brilliant!! Thanks
DUDE!!!! Genius! Thank you so much this is such a great idea and the exact solution I was looking for… GOD BLESS YOU SIR!
Anything more you would like to add about camera placement to avoid image wash out (from IR reflection?) would be welcome. (I don't fully understand the problem OR the advice.) I am hoping to save time by not DIY trial-and-error on my house.. Sample question: IR reflection from WHAT? Thanks in advance for your tips!!!
Slick and clean still 5 years later!
Thank you Great idea
