Thank you
We hoped for 10 people to apply, we received 250 offers. That’s love.
The Neurodiversity Foundation has been completely overwhelmed with the outpouring of support in recent days; There have been 250 amazing humans applying to join the foundation, for roles that are completely unpaid, hardly advertised, and has no luring perks or promised benefits. 250 people willing to step up for a job in service of making this world a more ND-friendly place for all neurodivergent kind, creating what needs to be created, doing, what needs to be done. We are an organization built on love, by & for NDs, and in this massive outpouring, “we see that same love” our organization is founded on, reflected back to us. And we stand confirmed in our belief, that this type of energy is, what can change the world.
We thank all those who applied to become part of the foundational family. Beyond our pragmatic need to fill this seat, it fills our heart with resolve and fire. With our polyannic ‘irrepressible hopefulness’, paired with deeply rooted ambition to continue impacting in ways that are meaningful for NDs all around the world. Now and in the unmade history to come.
It was this summer, when the Chair & Director declared a wish that after our first 7 years, we were to ‘make room at the table, and to make a much bigger table’. Our algorithmic prediction was set on 7 applications for boardmembership, we hoped for 10. Reaching this level of enthusiasm, shows us, that our strand of positive idealism and advocacy, is what the world needs. And we are doubling down on that.
As we’ve started the reviewing process of all applicants, we will take more time that we initially planned for, to get to know some of these wonderful humans. We will aim to fill the Board and the Wisdom Council by our next anniversary in February 15th. We will aim to add to our list of national organizers for ND Pride 2025. And we will add to our team of amazing Ambassadors throughout the year.
But for now, we want to say thank you. For those who applied, offering their time, their minds and their hearts. And we also want to say thank you to our friends, under and above the radar, rooting for us. To those who’ve been sharing our application post. To those nudging their best suited friends. We needed that support. We are moved by it. We see that love.
And growing our table, will not change who we are, we will prioritise neurodivergent leadership, and we will continue to lead with love, compassion, curiosity and solidarity.
Because that is who we are. And, as we see it, that is what the world needs right now. Now, and in the next 7 years to come. Because “Neurodiversity, Means All Of Us”.
Thank you.

    Autisme Centrum Tilburg! Na 1,5 jaar op de wachtlijst staan voor autisme diagnose. En dan de hele diagnose afdeling sluiten. En geen andere mogelijkheid op diagnose. Voor een Wajong uitkering. Jullie laten mensen in de steek!

    I didn't know there was a Neurodivergent Pride Day, I think that's pretty cool. It fell right between my birthday (June 20) and when I got officially diagnosed with ADHD (June 6). I always knew I was somehow "different" but never suspected ADHD because I only knew about symptoms in boys. When I found out some things I do like fast-talking infodumping and forgetting to swallow when I talk are ADHD symptoms and some of the stuff I do for workarounds is called ADHD masking, I always just called it "fitting in" and assumed that fitting in was the same for everyone. What kind of confirmed it was taking my boyfriend's allergy medicine that he gave me when I was out of mine, not realizing his is powerful (he has lifelong flu complications and needs to take very strong stuff), he told me it'd make me energetic but in reality it relaxed me a little and made me the most focused I'd ever been. I do pretty good with my workarounds and fear medication because I don't want to lose my artsy and creative side, but the way I felt when taking his allergy medicine was kind of nice. I found out the ingredient in his allergy medicine is very similar to ADHD medication. I also feel so blessed to have a boyfriend and friends that are accepting of my differences. My family are very wonderful and doing their best to be accepting but they had a lot of misconceptions they believed (but willing to listen when I debunked them). I remember my younger brother saying "it's ironic that the one who turned out to have a mental illness is the most successful one, Victoria is the last one I would've suspected" (referring to how I was the first to move out, the first to own my own home, and the first in my family to go to college, have a degree from Dartmouth) but he was surprised when I explained neurodivergence doesn't mean someone isn't going to be a success. It took me until age 27, almost age 28 to get a diagnosis but I'm so glad I did. Most people are unaware of the struggles I face behind the scenes.

    Does this include folks with Dyslexia? I know some folks include us in neurodiverse events but some groups are spaces for folks on the autism spectrum. I totally understand if that is the case.

      Juist wel een Pride. Onbekend maakt onbemind. Als we ons niet laten zien, gaat de manier waarop we in de maatschappij behandeld worden ook nooit beter worden. En waarom zouden we onze breinen niet moeten vieren? Op dagelijkse basis krijgen we genoeg modder over ons heen.

    • @TheFleshtemple
      @TheFleshtemple 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@miriamkorver1443 nee geen pride en ook geen andere prides. Ik heb ook een AS diagnose gekregen en aan een carnavalsoptocht meedoen om geaccepteerd te worden is echt geen optie. Ik krijg geen modder over me heen want ik stel me niet op als slachtoffer of zielepoot. Dat gebeurd wel als je in een pride gaat meelopen.

      @@TheFleshtemple pride is geen "carnavalsoptocht". dit vind ik een nogal kwalijke uitspraak en hier doe je heel veel lotgenoten mee tekort. probeer het eens wat minder op jezelf te betrekken.

      Nee, juist door "jullie" te gebruiken gebeurt dat! De bedoeling is alleen maar dat er bewustzijn wordt gecreëerd. En dat kan bijvoorbeeld heel goed met zo'n dag als deze. Ook om het perspectief wellicht iets meer te verschuiven van stoornis naar variatie. Waarom aanpassen aan de norm (wat toch onbewust wordt verwacht van veel mensen), terwijl die norm dus eigenlijk gewoon helemaal niet bestaat!

    Meer ruimte voor neurodiversiteit, genderdiversiteit, ik ben blij dat NL hier aandacht aan geeft, zelfs door ZonmW-subsidies.
