Tribute to my late father Archie Campbell -Tug Master Sydney Harbour from 1968 to His retirement Feb 1998. Filmed by myself on board the Tug Botany Cove Circa early 90's. Largely in this Video he is training his cousin John Campbell who was also about to become a skipper. John today still works as a skipper in Sydney Harbour and Botany Bay.
I remember "Fullerton Cove" at Newcastle with "Castle Cove" in mid to late 1970's.
I remember both Fenwicks and Waratah Towage tugs at Newcastle from the mid 1970's onwards. Jim Jones was the skipper of "Privateer" and Wesley Brown the engineer. "Castle Cove" and "Fullerton Cove" of Fenwicks and "Wyong" of Waratah were the regular Newcastle harbour tugs back then, sometimes "Buccaneer" would relieve. Carrington Slipways up the Hunter at Tomago built many of them. I remember in Sydney "Careening Cove" had no funnel which made it look odd. Fenwicks in Sydney used to moor at the bottom of Darling Street in Balmain. Great video, it brought back some memories, thank you.
looks awesome, love the soundtrack too!
