In Episode 10 of Drew and H.W., the duo scrutinize the logistics of the morning commute after a brief dissociative moment experienced by H.W. Strong opinions are shared about the ubiquity of smartphones in modern society. H.W. traces the downfall of man to all cellular technology that followed the pager (also known as a beeper and came in several different formats: the Chirper, Motorola, Comp U Serve Personal Assistant, NextTel Two Way Paging, etc.). H.W. goes on to blame iPhone creator Steve Jobs for all the ills of society and the eventual termination of life on this planet as we know it. He classifies the invention of the iPhone as a self-inflicted extinction level event. Drew fails to find cogent arguments to the contrary.
Brian Sciences is the next segment in the show, and the controversial topics are numerous. Can free will be possible in a world understood and described by the laws of Physics? Do Determinism and Causation preclude actual personal agency? These questions are hard to answer, but the pair do as good a job as any in discussing the finer points of the matter. Perhaps there is more the life than meets the eye.
It is then observed that H.W. is semi-bi-lingual. She speaks fluent Louisiana French but doesn't understand a word of it. She has convoluted memories from her childhood but remembers her grandmother speaking French, which often preceded a quaint, nostalgic fishing outing resulting in a delicious Court-bouillon.
Next, the two discuss the Stock Market and analyze its impact on American Society. Are there unseen disadvantages to the investment system or are stocks the way to assure oneself a comfortable retirement?
