Hart Highlight: Hope
Hope has always pushed her body to the limit, whether climbing in Tennessee, surfing at the beach, snowboarding in the mountains, or competing in athletics. Now, as a disabled veteran of the USAF, her disability greatly impacts her physical mobility, and her art has stepped in to fill the void. She intentionally uses boards, paint, and materials found in abandoned, trashed urban areas, which not only helps clean up these spaces but also minimizes her footprint. The energy of where those items have been is brought into her work. The splatter layers are typically created by popping (exploding) 50-100 paint cans that were left outside by other graffiti artists. She uses those colors and textures as a starting point, often incorporating personal themes by drawing and painting on top of and within those layers.

    I love this video as well,I am also partually sighted adult with low vision and I use a white cane.I have had nice people that have helped me out and they try their best to help guide me when I need help.Some times staff in grocery stores or walmart only say to me it is over there which doesn't doesn't help me out and other staff actually walk by my side and take me to where I have to go and reach items down for me to put in the cart

    what are the advantages of sigthted guide

    • @SignalCenters1957
      @SignalCenters1957 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your question, Mukisa! The advantage of sighted guide is that it puts the person being guided in control. They are the ones holding on to the guide and they can let go at any time if they feel unsafe. It also puts them behind the guide so they have time and space to process their movement, especially the level changes, by feeling the movement of their body. They can also switch sides if need be and go into the narrow passage mode when necessary.

    I truly wish that all nurses and healthcare workers would have the availability to this type of information. Most of my nurses feel like I am very fragile China. I often have a nurse take my arm and pull me in the direction they want me to go and then try to physically back me up to sit down in a chair. Then gently push me until I am in a sitting position. Not cool! Kind ignorance but nevertheless frustrating. It is so very important to have enough self-respect and boldness to firmly but gently show the nurse the proper way to guide.
