On the back legs muscle
I love this guy's style and spirit. I wish I could have a beer with him. So grateful for all the knowledge!
LOL, thanks, he's a pretty awesome husband, and he has taught me a lot. And I get spoiled with all the good food. No complaints here!
Gonna be a amazing roast
Thanks, KuneKune pork is really good, we love it!!
I like your style and I like your approach to quickly dispatching your goats
Thank you for the comment, we try to do it the best and most humane way we can. Thanks for watching.
The little piglet really just said: "AIN'T NO WAY ANYONE IS PAINTING MY BUTT BLUE!" ☠
LOL!
I do rabbits regularly. But man these goats got me nervous. This video makes it look like just a big ole bunny lol I got this!!
You got this, lol! Wait until the weather is cold, and then you can take your time with it so the meat won't spoil. After you've done it a few times you will get the hang of it.
What are the measurements? Could I use table cream in place of milk? Thank you in advance!
We just fill the pot with milk and then add vinegar slowly until you start to see separation (curds and whey) and then stop. Sometimes it takes a little more and other times less honestly. Freshly squeezed lemon juice (strain out seeds) is an alternative to vinegar and adds a nice fresh taste as well! Just prepare at least 4-5 lemons so you can add without having to stop and squeeze. We have never used just cream, we have always used milk, but I think you might get cream cheese that way..
How long before pain goes away. How long till your able to walk
The pain did last quite awhile, but I was walking within a few days, very slowly and with a walker. Let me post the link to the full video and a follow up I did, or you can also look at that playlist on our channel.

20 minutes⁉😱
Yes, lol. Works perfect!
Do y’all have a smoke house or thought of building one
We don't have one, but definitely would like to build one some day!
Maybe get some ear plugs. But looks like it works pretty good
You are so right, lol.
Respect
Thanks
Mine just run the opposite direction 😂
Yep, some have different personalities for sure haha!!
New to your channel. Great info for the homesteaders who didn’t take the time to learn from our grandparents 😊
Thank you, and very true! I wish we had all been taught more when we were younger, but it's not too late to learn thankfully!
I’ve always thought they were kinda cute with them big ears
I think so too, love those big, floppy ears. It's cute when they come running.
Agreed!
Thx for watching.
I'm wondering if something could be fashioned like the milk stand. The goats would perhaps be led there once a week or so for their favorite feed. Maybe it's even only once a month but when they see it, they're happy. But the last time they go, you could dispatch him easier. It's just a thought. I'd love to hear input.
That's a great idea. We have a lot of goats, so singling out one isn't so easy for us. We sometimes put the one we intend to butcher in our fenced garden with a bowl of feed and then dispatch in there. We do feed all of our goats in individual bowls, and they run around eating out of all of them and headbutting each other out of the way, lol. So a food bowl is something they are used to and helps them to not be so stressed in that moment.
I got my 15 beans today and I am going to wait to cook it with my daughters. They asked for your recipe! Thanks chef. God bless and protect you!
Awesome, I hope you enjoy it!
Very nice. Get a sharper knife and never cut towards your other hand. You almost cut yourself a couple times. Also kitchen scissors should help for opening the belly. Great job! (I have never done it)
Thanks, luckily I have never cut myself, lol. Been processing livestock for years, guess you just get in a groove with it..but I will definitely be more careful. A sharp knife is always a challenge, lol! Thx for watching and commenting.
I put a stainless steel grate in the bottom of my firebox …so won’t burn out bottom…love it
That’s awesome, good idea! Thx for watching.
Do you still aim from the front if using 9mm/38 or better to hit from the side? Don't wanna push lead in the body cavity
9 can usually be found in the neck or shoulder area, jhp won't penetrate as deep. A 22magnum is definitely ideal. TH-cam keeps blocking my response, tried multiple times with different wording.
Lmao who’s ready to make sausage with daddy lol goat taste more like deer meat to me
LOL! Yeah it tastes pretty mild, we love it!
She your breeding mummy pig
This video is a month old, but she actually is our breeding stock and she just had her piglets a week or so ago. :-)
@@zionsgateranch arh cool
Keep up the good work. Appreciate the video videos
Thank you for the encouragement, it helps! Thanks for watching!
Step 1. do not watch Watership Down, lest you develop a fear of Rabits Step 2. catch a Rabbit
LOL, or raise domesticated rabbits, then you don't have to catch them.
@@zionsgateranch you'd make sausages out of pet rabbits?
I thought I responded earlier, lol. Yes, we raise meat rabbits. They are much bigger than a wild rabbit.
Smoked Goat sausage!🔥New video Check it out everyone! 😊 th-cam.com/video/38zDl3yaz8w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YHOZKtx6e8718dOg
How did you get all the hair off so clean?
Having the right temp and then scraping quickly with the bell scraper. We also used a torch to burn off remaining hairs.
Funny they dont sweat though which is why they like mud...
Yep, it's very interesting how that works with evaporative cooling and mud lol!
Full video on scalding and scraping with more info and detailed on older video. Check it out also! Thanks for watching friends! 😊🤠 th-cam.com/video/mOh8GCwptFw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=A-5WBsmqoaLdkTu4
What weight do you shoot for when raising for meat, and how long does it take to get there?
Really no rule of thumb, but if you have kids in the Spring, you butcher during Winter in the cold weather, so about 8-9 months old at times. If you let them get older, you can get more meat, but if you have a herd you need to thin back down before the next kidding season.
Dude, you are freakin' impressive!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with others!!
Yeah no problem, thank you, I appreciate it! Thanks for watching! We just made a video on goat sausages, it's uploading today and will be posted tonight hopefully. We have another goat butchering video coming soon too - stay tuned!
How many pounds of meat do you get out of a 5 month old kune kune?
Very good question, maybe 30 lbs. We didn't weigh this one though. It was actually quite a bit more than we thought it would be.
Delicious 🤤
Thank you 😋
What made him not ideal for breeding?
He was very small, not really what we prefer to breed, we like more of a mid height range.
Howya Dave... this come up on my scrolling, right along with the doggie and failed construction shorts. Congrats
Howdy, it's funny how shorts and algorithms work, lol. Thanks for watching, nice to meet you.
I did a kunekune roaster i didn't scold and scrape though.
It's a bit of a pain to scald and scrape, but that skin is so good!
Lol I wouldn't be without mine - different make - the cow certainly wouldn't, she's already in contempt as she's used to the robot 😂
Yep, wouldn't be without ours either, that's for sure!!
Forgot to mention I did add smoked paprika!
Send mi the phone number to order milking machine
Great video and tips. I did see the one where you butchered the pig. This is a great way to deal with having too many pigs. We just had 4 sows give birth in June and July. Ended up with 24 out of 30 piglets that survived. How do you dispatch the animal at that young age? How long do you leave it in the deep freeze? Also, do you castrate the males?
Were you able to see my reply? It shows 1 reply on my end, but when I click on it to view it's not there. I think my responses are sometimes getting deleted, maybe due to key words I'm mentioning about the processing..
@@zionsgateranch No, I didn't see a reply.
Here's the other video link I mentioned sending you: th-cam.com/video/mOh8GCwptFw/w-d-xo.html
@@zionsgateranch I did see this video already. It is great as well. I will have to watch it again as a reminder.
Thank you, always feel free to message with any questions and we would be glad to help in any way we can!
damn that looks good
Thank you, it was sooo good!
I apologize for the missing footage of adding the seasonings. Mix seasonings well when you add 10% water as shown in video! Recipe is in the description! We lost the footage I do apologize. Be creative and have fun add to your liking. Always try by frying some up before you stuff so you can make adjustments. 😊
I didn't know rabbits ate sausage!
lol!
