Such a striking piece, I love the idea of the reflections and distortions. The visuals here are also awesome, some parts look like a cascade of droplets. Stellar! 💙

The concept for this piece was centered around the idea of the glassy surface of a cold and clear body of water, and the different reflections and distortions one may observe on that surface. To musically illustrate these different concepts I employed several techniques. The harmony for the entirety of the piece is built on the concept of negative harmony reflected around the note “C,” that is if a note is played that is 4 half steps above “C” then it is harmonized by a note 4 half steps below “C” to parallel the reflection one may see in the surface of water. To further emphasize the importance of the note “C’ in the piece, there are moments of tintinnabulation based around it. There are also sections of rhythmic palindromes. Additionally many of the rhythmic patterns start faster then diminish in value, paralleling the idea of a ripple starting small and growing bigger across the surface of the water. The piece begins, growing out of the note “C,” adding notes in a scalar cluster, as the listener falls into this dream space and begins to see the lake. After a lengthy journey through the world, this process is reversed at the end, shrinking from the cluster one note at a time until only a “C” remains as the listener awakes and leaves the world.
