Isfahan, often referred to as “Nesf-e Jahan” which translates to “Half of the World,” is a city that embodies the essence of Persian culture and history. Here are some beautiful facts about this enchanting city:
Historic Significance: Isfahan is one of Iran’s oldest cities, boasting a history that stretches back over 2,500 years.
Cultural Capital: It was the capital of the Persian Empire during the Safavid dynasty, a golden age for art and architecture in the 16th to 18th centuries.
Imam Square: Known as Naqsh-e Jahan Square, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the largest city squares in the world, surrounded by monumental building.
Imam Mosque: A stunning example of Islamic architecture, the mosque is adorned with intricate tilework, grand domes, and exquisite calligraphy.
Ali Qapu Palace: This historic palace is famous for its music rooms and offers breathtaking views of the city.
Bridges over Zayandeh River: The Si-o-se Pol and Khaju Bridge are not only functional crossings but also serve as beautiful meeting spots, integrating architecture with social spaces.

Naqsh Jahan is a very valuable work of the Safavid Empire era, which was made by order of Shah Abbas Safavid of the Turkic kings of Azerbaijan. . In addition, all the historical monuments, bridges, mosques, caravanserais, schools and gardens in Isfahan are all wonderful works of the Safavid Qizil Basha's rule over Isfahan. Before Isfahan was chosen as the Safavid capital, there is no mention of Isfahan in history.
