Some people want to write a book, I want to record an album!
Thank you so much for showing interest in supporting my solo project.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Nina, and I am a singer-songwriter and artist. Originally from the Netherlands, I spent many years in Scotland, before upping sticks and settling in Spain. And this journey is exactly what has inspired me to write my solo album.
I emigrated twice, once for love, once for sunshine (dragging my whole family plus two cats and a truck load of stuff to Valencia). Emigrating means uprooting, saying goodbye, reinventing yourself, figuring out your identity in this new place. It is not easy, but it also makes you feel incredibly alive.
Many of the songs on the album are about the journey of life, significant moments, growing older, looking back, and moving on. No sugary sweet love songs from me, but realistic, and sometimes quite funny observations that are relatable to all of us. Human behaviour, and the search for belonging.
The style of music? Call it 'singer-songwriter', folk, country, blues-y...or a mix of all of that. I take inspiration from many corners. I guess it comes with moving around and picking up sounds on the way.
I am currently writing and crafting these songs, under my artist name Nina Mae Harper, together with other musicians, and I will be recording them in a professional studio here in Valencia.
But as an independent artist, I am funding it all by myself - and I need some help! As you can imagine recording music in a professional studio, and subsequently publishing it, isn't a cheap process.
Any contribution will help hugely towards this project:
Each song costs me €300 to produce, record, mix and master. I am aiming for 12 songs! Then there are costs involved with marketing, copyright, merchandise, online platform submissions, etc. You get the picture!
Timeline
I have just recorded song number #1, and I am hoping to start recording the second song in early 2025. With the aim to have the first singles released in Springtime 2025. Targeting for the full project to be released and available on all platforms in Autumn 2025. And I am planning a beautiful album launch concert of course!
