Gold as in color. And technically, if the clasp was metal it would stick. But no, it wasn't actual real gold. I find those with my Metal Detector though!

Your magnet probably attached to a car at the bottom of Fernan. So much junk at the bottom. That's why I only catch and release any fish from Fernan.

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. The one great thing about this whole area are there are tons of places to Magnet fish! Just have to be careful around rocks and logs. Been stuck a few times on them.

Thanks for the comment and watching! Magnet fishing is a great way to find lots of things lost in the water. The only downside is it has to be an object a Magnet with attract so no stone arrow heads , gold or silver. But a metal detector will find gold and silver! I love doing both.

Thanks for your comment and checking out my channel, it's much appreciated. Fort Coeur d'Alene was established in 1879, about 14 years after the Civil War and was later named Fort Sherman. While on an inspection tour in 1877, General William Tecumseh Sherman camped by Coeur d’Alene Lake and was so impressed by the scenery of the area that he recommended it as a site for a fort. It was decommissioned in 1900 and the land sold off in 1905. When I found this bullet I knew it was old and wanted to have the Museum review it in case they wanted it. After they confirmed it in fact was from that time period and from the same firearms used by the Army, they told me it was in the best condition of a bullet they had found and wanted to know if I would like to Donate it. I gladly donated it so others can enjoy this part of North Idaho history as well. If you find something like this you can always have the Museum of North Idaho review it like I did. I created this channel and make these videos because I love Magnet Fishing and Metal Detecting and love sharing the finds and history behind them with people. I have a full time Career that pay the bills, this channel is my way of sharing the things I love with others while sharing history and being a good roll model to younger generations. Nice find. Looks like its an old 45/70 slug. I have found a lot of those bullets down there where you found that one on the beach and around the beach off the dike road. Some of the ones I find are not smashed and some drops (unfired) in the casing.

Thanks for your comment and checking out my channel. Fort Sherman Originally named Fort Coeur d'Alene, was built after the Civil War in 1879 and decommissioned in 1900. I found what appeared to be a very old bullet from history of North Idaho area and contacted the museum to have it reviewed. When they said they would like it, I gladly donated it. I love history, magnet fishing, metal detecting, and if I can find something that adds information to the history of our area I'll be happy to. I'm not in this for money. I have a full time career that pays my bills. I do this channel and create these videos because I enjoy sharing these fun activities and history with people.
