I'm Sami, born and raised in Brooklyn 🌆, and part of the first generation in my family to graduate from college. With an engineering background that fuels my curiosity about finding real solutions for reconnecting with our authentic, rooted selves, I've been driven to explore tools and techniques for healing and growth. This passion has shaped my mission to ease suffering and empower others . Along the way, I became a Somatic EMDR practitioner, a life coach, and a trainee in Compassionate Inquiry created by Gabor Maté. Through my videos , I share insights, personal stories, and strategies I've witnessed in my own life and those of my clients to help turn pain into strength and find a sense of home within ourselves.
Dr. Gabor Maté's Response to "I Felt Guilty for Working on Myself While Others Are Suffering"
I asked Dr. Gabor Maté why I feel so guilty for working on myself when people at home are suffering. His answer surprised me and helped me understand where this guilt comes from. This happened over a year ago and lots of growth has happened since then!

I recently finished a 5 day meditation retreat at Spirit Rock and wanted to do a comparison on my previous 10 day meditation retreat (th-cam.com/video/iFMf1n8i8LM/w-d-xo.html). In many ways, the experiences were totally different. But my learnings from the 10 day retreat were more so solidified in this 5 day one. I hope the tips in the video benefits someone.

How Can Role Models Jumpstart Your Healing Journey?
It was great seeing this! He sounds like a wise man.
He IS a wise man !
Even if you may be 'right' Gabor, it's too fast a (mental) process - like watching mental ping-pong. it is words that won't reach the questionner nor help him process his guilt. It seems you are more motivated for being Mr. know-it-all than to really reach the person. Where is your heart?
Seems like you were offended. Maybe figure out why?
The video was cut into pieces to make it a 3minute video hence the quick back and forth. I bet the actual conversation lasted longer than it. But from Gabor's teachings himself, be compassionate with everyone brother ❤️
He is not in one to one therapy... he can't stay 1 hour with him...
You explained my life at 16 Had a drug addict stepdad living at home from 10 to 15 and was bullied up untill grade 9 when I was 15 Things changed and people treat me better but theres always that old me inside of me whispering into my ears Often times I feel inadequate, small, dumb and unworthy for showing up as myself
You perfectly described my situation. Ill let go of my past and I will be a completely new person.
Thank you so much....
Yes, let's lead from the heart when helping others. ❤
It’s a struggle, but when I do, my outcomes are different, in a good way.
How the f did you bear grew back if you performed a laser hair "REMOVAL"..??
Not sure if you’ve tried laser hair removal or not, but it’s more about reduction than permanent removal. It definitely did a great job of reducing the hair overall, especially in those first few years. Over time (this was over 10 years ago), some hair grew back, but my beard is still patchy, especially under my chin. So while laser is super effective, it’s not always a one and done deal (even after 6 treatments). Hope that clears it up.
Will my beard regrow after 4 sessions
Will my patchy areas regrow
@@Wfos2785 I’d say there’s a solid chance it can grow back over time, especially if you stop after just 4 sessions. Hope that helps.
Thank you for bringing the light to our inner child ❤
You are most welcome ♥ , Thank you for your comment!
I didn’t have time in my life for improv. I still don’t, but now I need to find it. Awesome performances all around 👏
Yes you do! Improv is one of my favorite things to do
I hate my mustache whenever someone sees me they automatically think I’m a porn star. 😔 porn is a dirty, disgusting profession and that’s the reason I hate my mustache god the humiliation.
The decisions we make as a result of past experiences, especially from childhood, can reflect deep wounds. I get the comical analogy you're trying to make. Wishing you the best on your journey.
Love your reflections ❤

I've lasered my whole beard and i look 10x better and confidence insanely spiked up, it turned out to how i always anticipated it. honestly dwelling on it that much is unnecessary there is people out there doing crazy work with face surgeries and what not its really incomparable to just removing unwanted hair , shouldn't feel ashamed for wanting to achieve a certain look anyway. great video tho much love man
How was your experience bro? I am also thinking about doing this laser treatment to remove my beards permanently, I can't tolerate these beards pricking when they grow every week , nor I want to groom over and over, I literally hate beards on me
I did a 7 hair removal sessions and now i want my old beard back what can i do please 😢
Build a time machine.
Savage.😂 @@AshwinRamdin
u look 10x hotter on this vid than the first. def it's the beard ;) How can the more ignorant light one's path to wisdom?
Yes you have a back up job!😂😂
you should probably go again since its back
I'm enjoying the fact that it's back and I get to experience something I thought/wanted was permanently erased.
what the fuck dude, i just wanted a review on beard laser removal lol
Fr fr 😂😂
😂 Lol, well bro, now that you're here, come on in and take a seat!
sameee
why did you initially want to get rid of your beard?
My father has transformed significantly, and I'm proud of the person he's become. I don't want to speak ill of him, but the truth is, his past actions caused deep pain for my family. The physical abuse we endured left lasting wounds. As I got older, I desperately wanted to distance myself from that part of my life. When I started growing a beard, it triggered something deep and I found disgust in myself. I associated the beard with shame and the hurt. He carried a beautiful long beard that seemed to mask wounds. I'm sharing this so that it can help someone who has gone through a similar circumstance.
Question: How did your beard hair grow back after the lasers?
Laser hair removal significantly reduces hair growth, but it's not always 100% permanent. Multiple sessions, sometimes spaced out over time, are often needed for the best results. I still have patches in my beard and under my chin that's harder to see. Also the density of the beard significantly decreased.
a male model told me beard laser removal is not permanent like the other body parts,it will regrow after 1 -3 months no matter the sessions
Is it really permanent? I heard first is is needed to do some treatments and beard stops growing, but next you need one supporting treatment once a year to be smooth-faced. But if you stop treatments, is beard patchy or it after some times become even?
@@artemitkuchinov In my experience, getting laser hair removal made my beard very patchy for a long time until my beard started growing back
hey, new sub here - the universe obviously sent me your video to watch, loved the insights, thanks for sharing. I've been practicing mindfulness for some time but never done a silent retreat, it's been on my to do list for a while, definitely going to check one out though after listening to your story. Looking forward to watching how you integrate this into your life. 🙏☸
Welcome Phil! and thanks universe! Silent retreats can be incredibly powerful. If it's been on your list, I definitely encourage you to give it a try (based on my limited experience of it). I'm still working on integrating the stillness into my daily life, and sharing that journey here, so stay tuned!
Listening to this video on 2x speed while waiting for my video game to start, the irony is not lost on me :) I enjoyed it a lot.
😂 Glad you found a way to squeeze this in while waiting for your game. That waiting period could be a great time to practice some mindfulness haha! Let me know if you have any questions or thoughts!
Thank you Sami for sharing your beautiful growth and evolution experience. If only more of the collective would go experience to create more connection and attunement. 💜🙏🏽💜 🙏🏽
Lisa, thank you so much for your kind words and support! I truly believe that sharing our stories and experiences is one way we can inspire others to step into their own growth and find deeper connection. Sending you warmth and gratitude! ❤
bruh i cant even grow a proper beard and theres dudes who laser theirs off..
Lol. Mine came back eventually! Maybe yours will too, just give it some time
Sorry. but this 'pseudo follicus barbae' is becoming too much
more power to you brother, being worried of something about yourself is truly something which eats you up from inside, happy to see you winning the battle over the intrusive thoughts
Appreciate you and your kind words!
Wtf is this trauma dump😅 no one cares just tell us about the laser hair removal
I have been in this Country for 25 years. I have to tell I never hid my identity as a Muslim. I may have been discriminated, maybe three times openly, and maybe five times covertly. So I can tell you there is really no practical racism in the USA. I and my family have never seen it. I have had interactions with thousand upon thousands of people over the years, and never experienced it.
yeah, even i started to grow my beard out because it is obligatory for muslims and most interactions i have are just normal, sometimes you get looks from people and maybe sometimes you feel like you get treated differently but with these hardships Allah will reward you even more for following the rules of Islam, don't try to hide who you are or be affected by what others seemigly think.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It's heartening to hear you haven't faced overt discrimination as a Muslim in the US. To clarify, this video is not related to Islamophobia. An image was mistakenly used that might have alluded to it, but I was on a 10 day retreat when the video was posted and wasn't aware of the final edit. That image has since been removed as it detracted from the message I'm trying to convey. The shame surrounding my beard, which led me to remove it, stems from a much deeper, personal place, unrelated to my faith. While I may share more details in the future at a time where I feel ready, this video focuses on overcoming internalized shame at a higher level, regardless of its origins.
@@rootedwithsami Alhamdullillah. I always found my strength in Deen. Asking Allah for anything and always getting it makes my Imaan really strong.
The beard is the pride of manhood. Shaving it all is nothing but imitating women. What many desire, you hate

Thank you Lisa <3

I get the issue with the “I feel like” type statements. In Non Violent Communication they would say it’s a way to pass a thought, judgement, interpretation or projection off as a feeling. But what’s the problem with “I feel worried”? Isn’t it a real feeling?
Good point, you're spot on! I must have missed that one. Thanks for pointing it out!
Haha i definitely say that a lot
