No. The first part is electric (the opening of the hatch to access the shade) but flipping out the shade is manual. We feel the electric solutions tend to be quite unreliable in marine environments - especially on fast boats. We offer a fixed carbon fibre T-Top as an option though - You can see it on the 1212 Ghost Air model video. This T-Top is also available for the standard 1212 Ghost.

Yes - we offert the Seakeeper 4.5 as an option to avoid rocking.

Actually the data from our sales team says otherwise: 85% of our buyers are families. While the kids are often teenagers we also have a fair share of families with smaller kids. Also boats are often shared by the whole family so the same boat may be used for family activity on one day and for partying or going to the beach club on another day.

Wir haben tatsächlich schon vor 20 Jahren ein kleines Boot mit Brennstoffzelle gebaut. Leider eignet sich die Technologie nachwievor nicht für unsere Modelle: Bei unseren kleineren Booten hat der Elektroantrieb so viel Reichweite dass man keine Brennstoffzelle als Range Extender braucht, bei den größeren Booten liefern Brennstoffzellen leider viel zu wenig Energie um längere Strecken mit hohen Geschwindigkeiten fahren zu können. Davon abgesehen gibt es keine Infrastruktur um Wasserstoff nachzutanken und die Sicherheitsbedenken sind riesig. Wir glauben im Moment, dass auf Binnengewässern sich mittelfristig der Elektroantrieb durchsetzt. Auf dem Meer wird es mehr und mehr Hybrid Lösungen geben wo man zumindest lokal emissionsfrei unterwegs ist aber für längere Distanzen bei höheren Geschwindigkeiten gibt es im Moment keine Alternative zu Diesel oder Benzin.

Yea.......... But Change The Name From Demon To Angel!

We built over 3000 electric boats over the years and never had a single fire originating from one. In our view an inproperly maintained petrol-powered boat is much more likely to burn and the statistics of boat insurers confirm this as well. Modern batteries have multiple safety measures included to stop fires or other issues.

@@kanalianr1 The battery itself is exactly the same as in the future Porsche Macan. But everything "around" the battery starting from the cooling system, to the frame and housing as well as the venting system (very relevant to fire safety) is specific to the boat.

We did that years ago in our Hybrid systems. But the trade-off of having both batteries, motors and and engine and fuel tank in the boat is in general not worth it.

Did you ever consider designing a large yacht that has a charging system capable of recharging this boat? Then you could simply include this electric boat as an option and that most yacht buyers,in my opinion, would be happy to add to the purchase as a matching companion craft.

@@hundredhead2551 We are not in the yacht business but in general every yacht big enough to have this boat as a tender has enough generator capacity to charge it. We already sold some of our smaller electric boats as tenders to super yachts and they are all charging from the mothership!

The next Porsche Cayman will be 100% electric as well!

In reality that doesn't happen because you have a "limp mode" at 5% charge that keeps you going for a few miles at slow speeds. Obviously if you ignore all the signs you gonna need a boat that tows you. But that's the same with a petrol or Diesel powered boat.

@@speedymadden0430 Using water to propel boats is physically challenging to say the least but there's always the option of sail boats to use the wind!

Actually even our bigger boats usually rarely travel for longer on a single day. Most people just drive to their favorite spot, drop the anchor and the sunbath, swim, drink some beers and listen to some tunes. Sure - for some people range won't be enough - Which is why you can get the 858 Fantom also as a petrol or Diesel powered vessel!

While we can't comment on the total carbon footprint (because we simply don't know) these boats are very often sold to relatively small bodies of water where local pollution (noise, emissions in the water and/or air) is considered to be the bigger problem. So with a boat that is quieter and at least has no local emissions you are still preserving the air and water quality of the specific lake or region it is used.

We didn't want to reach the highest possible efficiency. We wanted to have high performance in regards to acceleration, top speed, turning speeds as well as comfort features while lying on anchor. Hydrofoils have big trade-offs that our clients aren't willing to make.

@@whynotstartusingyourbrain8726 Hydrofoils only work good in a small window of speed - for example the current crop of high-end hydrofoils (shout out to our friends at Candela!) work very well up to around 25 knots. But the system doesn't allow you to go faster and the in-between speeds (in between displacement and "flying"speed) is also not a speed you can comfortably ride in. For example the Candela C8 is speed limited 27 knots. Obviously if your main concern is to go as far as possible with as little energy as possible then hydrofoils are the way to go but not every client has this need or prefers other needs like a higher top speed or the feeling a good planning hull gives you in the water. Another note is the complexity of the system - Hydrofoils are complex with lots of sensors, little motors and software to make the system work in the marine environment which with its high temperature fluctuations, salt water, water pressure and direct UV sunlight is not kind on this sort of equipment in the long term. Lastly hydrofoiling boats need to be very light to function well which has drawbacks on the materials used on board as well as the type of equipment. On a luxury vessel clients expect a certain feel when touching different points of the boat like hatches or the upholstery. If you need to save every gram it's hard to build a boat that conveys this aspect. We don't think of hydrofoils of the future and tradtitional planning hulls (which by the way also changed a lot in the past 20 years) as the past but as complementary technologies where every client chooses what works best for his or her needs.

We are installing Mercruiser 8.2l V8 engines with 430 HP each as standard and Volvo Penta D6-440 with 440 HP each as an option. Both packages come equipped with Duoprop stern drives and Joystick operation.

Yes - a canopy for the front seating area is standard with carbon fiber poles. For the back sunpads it is also an option and attaches to the T-Top.
