My place is a bit nippy in the winter so ran a fan heater quickly under a bed sheet on the cage checking with my head under it to make sure it didn't superheat! At a certain point the budgie started zig zagging on the perch and when I backed off the heat he stopped! No audible chirping. Usually I put a bottle of hot water in the cage under the cover as my place can get to 10 Celsius in the winter if I'm out or not running the heater. The other option could be a covered tea light candle under a can but don't want anything that could expose a hot surface or open flame. Ideally they like temperature in the low 20s in Celsius or about 75 in Fahrenheit.

I love this bird. They are so cute and playful - with a charming laugh. Also, being a ground parrot from New Zealand (a cold climate with few predators) they are not very heat tolerate, love investigating, and are very trusting.

When you add sound it doesn't have to be an annoying tune that doesn't help you read. Instead you can just say the words nobody wants to read, that's why people looked up a video. If we wanted to read we wouldn't look things up in TH-cam

I have had a kakaiki for 2 weeks now never been handled by aviary he was 10-12 weeks old after a couple of days i left cage door open he flew out then decided to go back in about a few days ago I bought a larger cage as I could see he needed space he came out through the door flew around then sat in the curtain rail most of the night but would not go back eventually I managed to get him back in but has never come towards me I try with a long stick to get him to step up he just flies away I had lovebirds before this is my first kakaiki what can I do so that we can bond even when I am eating he dose not come round. Any help would be appreciated I have looked at many videos mine is a Latino cute

When it says reward with treat my bird isn’t comfortable enough for me to get near her to give a treat . So does leaving her favourite seeds out in her bed sort of like that while she gets used to the new home since she’s under a yr old and only had her for about 3-4 weeks
