Winters Edge 4 Fluid Art Painting Techniques
Winters Edge 4 Fluid Art Painting Techniques. The last in this little series of winter landscapes.
My pouring mixes:
Please note, just because you may use exactly what I use, it doesn't mean you will get the same results as me. There are many variables in fluid art, not one 'recipe' can be followed to get the same results. Concentrate instead on achieving the correct consistency. This video may be useful

A Winter Landscape, Fluid Art Painting Techniques

A Winter Landscape, Fluid Art Painting Techniques. Introducing my latest painting - an abstract winter scene with misty silver clad mountains sitting on top of an icy lake. Bright blue icy water mingles with snow and ice with some beautiful fluid art effects. A windswept tree stands on its own, creating a focal point with watery reflections in the foreground. This painting conveys the coldness ...

Remembering Sycamore Gap. Fluid Art Pearl Pour. As I am becoming known for my trees on top of fluid art backgrounds, there was one tree that I had to paint. Sycamore Gap, which was seen as a symbol of Northumberland, and was a popular site for photographers and walkers due to its location in a dramatic dip in the land, was planted by previous landowner John Clayton in the late 1800s. Sadly vand...

Fluid Art Landscape Painting Techniques. I have been asked a few times if I had any prints made of my first ‘Old Harry’, unfortunately not and it sold a little while ago. Thanks for saying that ring pours are difficult. I've always heard that it's good for beginners, so I've been SO frustrated that I haven't been able to do a decent one (despite having better luck with other techniques). It seems like no matter what I do, I end up with teeny-tiny super-thin rings. I've tried thin paint, thicker paint, a lot of layers of paint in the cup, and only a few layers of paint in the cup. After watching this video, I wonder if it's how I'm tilting the canvas that's the problem.

    • @JulieVatcherArtist
      @JulieVatcherArtist 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, glad you found this video helpful. Ring pours are tricky beasts, I don’t do them very often. You can actually achieve nice results with thicker paint and thinner paint, (although I would actually tend to have my paints thicker) if you want small rings pour from a higher up, thicker rings stay close to the canvas. So by the sounds of things you may be pouring from too high. Make sure you have the correct amount of paint for size of canvas you are using… even a little more won’t hurt. Tilt slowly over a wet canvas so that your rings don’t fold over, they should glide more than fold in on them selves over a dry canvas. Let me know how you get on, and if I can help further just let me know. Julie x

    Is this the same as acrylic pour painting, using Flotrol. Or how do you mix?

    • @JulieVatcherArtist
      @JulieVatcherArtist 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. This video is very old now. I have later videos in my beginners series showing exactly how I mix my paints with PVA glue. 70% PVA 30% water. Then depending on what brand of paint I use I mix this with 1 part paint and 1 part of my PVA AND water mix. You will then have to add various amounts of water to each of your colours so that they are all the same consistency. The videos go into the detail you will need. Hope this helps

    I know I commented on this before but I have another question I have a 36 by 18 inch canvas that I need to paint should I make two ring pores to cover the whole canvas

    • @JulieVatcherArtist
      @JulieVatcherArtist 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! If not 2 or maybe 3! that’s a big canvas to do a ring pour onto. I would only do a ring pour on a 12x12 inch canvas or smaller. But that’s personal preference, I like to have a focal point in the middle of the canvas
