Thanks for the tips. I am looking forward to start the trail next week.
Thanks! You’re going to have a great time! Enjoy :-)
This is such a great set of tips. Thank you! Aiming to go to the trail next year so this is so handy
Thanks! You're gonna have a great time! I loved it so much that I want to do it again soon too :-)
Great video. Thanks for sharing💚 Is there any free parking near Milngavie or Glasgow for 8-10 days? Like going back to the car after Fortwilliam from Glasgow. Thanks
Thanks for watching! Sorry I don’t know of any free parking in those areas :-)
@@jamies_adventures No worries mate. Enjoyed your video tbh. Detailed👍
The cake is called brunsviger 😃 thank you for a great video ❤
Loved that cake! Thanks! :-)
Where did you buy your feul? Is there another place besides Reykjavik to buy feul before getting on the trail?
You can buy fuel at the start of the trail. In a little converted bus shop. But I didn’t want to risk them running out when I got there. You can also get fuel at most petrol stations I think.
Awesome video. I walked team 2 ‘a day later than yours’ Great feature showing the elevation-graph and a red dot moving along with time passing 👍
Thanks for watching! :-)
The Local guide is right. Only kill the Spanish wood snail/Slug (Arion vulgaris, syn. Arion lusitanicus) also called Iberian wood snail or killer snail. The Spanish wood snail is considered a pest, especially in northern Europe, because in humid summers it can reproduce in very large numbers. It can be confused with black wood snail, cellar snail (which has horizontal stripes) and red wood snail, which is typically larger and orange-reddish. whilst the Spanish wood snail is most often reddish-brown and that type of snail kills the orginal black and good snails. So the Arion Vulgaris is an invasive species here in Denmark. :)
Good to know, thanks! :-)
Great to see myself (23:15) and at the checkpoint of campsite 2
👍
Another great vid! Me and my wife are going to look at registering for next year after watching, when did you get your tickets? Is it a bit of a scramble for tickets? Also were divided in our house on the slugs, I say kill em but the wife says nooooo!! 😂👍🏻
Register for the Fjallraven mailing list (on the website I think) then you get early bird notifications when the tickets come out. Not too sure when though. You'd love Denmark for sure! Thanks for watching :-)
@@jamies_adventures thanks! Looking forward to the next adventure!
Wowsers at some of the sizes of packs, folk have. I'm genuinely so tempted by this one or the Sweden one. A group of us are doing the UK one next year. Great video. And such a great achievement.
Thanks for watching! Highly recommend Denmark, it was great. I also want to do Sweden next year. Fingers crossed. UK one looks great too! :-)
Thx for tips. Helped me to prepare me for my own WHW-Adventure last year in August/September. Weather wise I was really spoiled by Scotland back then.
Your very welcome! Glad you had a great time! Scotland is amazing in great weather huh! Thanks for the comment :-)
@@jamies_adventures Hi. Yeah, I couldn't believe it's raining in Scotland, that good weather I had for 10 days. :D But this year on the Rob Roy Way I had the full package of Scottish rain... ;-)
@Buszkraftowski Basically with Scotland you just have to take every type of gear for all weathers
@@jamies_adventures true
good build up video, part 2 soon for me
Thanks. I'm editing it as we speak! Hopefully it won't be too long until it's up :-)
How much roughly for the internal layout inc labour if don’t mind?
The whole thing was 15k for a local company to do it for me.
Really enjoyed the video, mate. Can’t wait to see the rest of the event!
Ahh thanks! It was a fun drive! Next video should be out soon (just need a bit more editing time!) :-)
Lovely looking van dude. Looks really clean. Loving the silver and black theme. Just an fyi you can turn the doors on those fridges so it opens from the right. Would make it easier to access. As it is it needs to be fully open to get anything out. Any links to those strip lights ta.
Hi! I didn't realise you can change the door opening side! I'll have a go. Although I haven't found it a problem, that's a great tip. Thanks! And sorry, I don't know where the strip lights came from. Thanks for the comment :-)
I plan to bring a tunnel tent. Is it really that bad to put the spikes? The shape should help minimise the strength of wind
There were a few tunnel tents around, but most were free standing. You may just need to use more stones for the guy lines.
@@jamies_adventures thank you
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
👍
Nice
Thanks :-)
The changeable weather tip is the most important one. We got caught out once. Never again without full waterproof and hot flask, even on a day that starts mild! Good video for preparation 👍
Great advice! Thanks for the comment :-)
did your abisko leak at any point? any drips?
Hi. No, it hasn't leaked for me yet. Although I'm using it less at the moment as the height of it is a bit low for me.
Tackling this September. Great video
Awesome! You’ll have a great time! Thanks for the comment :-)
How tall are you ? Interested in the headroom in your custom 👍
I’m just shy of 6ft. 5ft 11 I think.
Do you think you could pinch any more headroom from ceiling/floor ? As im 6-2
@steved2189 that might be tough. Maybe use less insulation?
I too brought a custom trail and have done a very similar conversation with the bf Goodrich, heater etc etc.
Awesome!
Apart from the bonus tip, I can 100% vouch for these tips, and in this order. It is harder than you think, so get good footwear and pack lightly!
Thanks for your comment :-)
Looks amazing! 👍Who did the conversion for you?
Thanks! It was a company called Revampervan based in Christchurch in Dorset. :-)
A slightly belated comment with thanks for posting this Jamie. I really enjoyed it in terms of the content and the high quality of your production. I've done the Way a few times and one useful tip for people to note relates to something that you noticed. There were a lot of people at Beinglas on the Tuesday night and elsewhere on other nights even though you weren't walking in high season. One reason for this is that there is a bulge in numbers every week. Because of the way that our working lives are organised most people start the WHW (and other longer trails) at the weekend which means there is a bulge in the numbers heading north, putting pressure on facilities and accomodation. If their schedule allows I really strongly recommend that people start on Tuesday or Wednesday so you are part of a much smaller cohort making your way along the trail. It makes life much easier.
Thanks for kind your comment! You made some great points that others reading these comments should take on if they plan to do the WHW. It was a great hike and I'm sure I'll be doing it again sometime :-)
Hi what was the name of the boat you picked up?
Hi. Sorry, it was so long ago I can't remember.
@@jamies_adventures ok thanks though.
Doing this in July. Beats walking on water!!
It sure does
Great video guys! Could I ask, is there an opportunity on the route to get more water?
Thanks! There’s a burger van near the viaduct that may do water, but not sure. My advice is take plenty of water!
Thanks for the tips. I'll save this video. I heard that Xylitol mints are a natural way to produce lots of saliva and stops the mouth from becoming dry. You can buy them in mints or gum. if anyone suffers from dry mouth a lot this will stop that.
Thanks and good to know :-)
I'm not the best with heights how would I fare up? I'm mainly worse with sheer drops than anything?
No problems with that on this walk. You’ll be fine
@@jamies_adventures Brilliant! Im looking at doing it in early september for a local charity
Have a great time!
Helpful video, thanks. We are attempting this challenge this coming weekend so a very useful video to find.
Thanks! Have a great time :-)
How did it go?
Hey Jamie, can you recommend which direction to this ie clockwise/anti clockwise? Thanks 😊
Hi. I think the way we done it in the video is the most common way. It worked well for me so I recommend doing it that way :-)
Thanks for this Jamie. Always wondered what they were like from a ‘customers’ perspective. I’m sure Abbie will have you doing all her advertising now. 😂 Going to have to book up for one now.
Ha! It was a great walk and well worth booking on one for sure! Thanks for the comment :-)
Great vid dude
Cheers! Thanks for the comment :-)
Very helpful, thank you 😊
You’re very welcome! :-)
Nice to see an ocean pitch sticker in the background in your camper
Ha! Good spot! It’s one of our favourites for sure
I`ve got an Allak 2 that I bought used but as good as a new one. Absolutely love it, just perfect for canoe trips.
Awesome! It sure is a great tent! Thanks for your comment :-)
Great video, thank you. Could you do a video on how you packed your bag, please?
I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for your comment:-)
Brilliant end to end walkthrough. Very informative.
Thanks for your kind comment :-)
Really clear, sensible packing for hiking. Well done, I picked up some good tips here.
Ahh great! Thanks for the comment :-)
Went to Brugge last June and stayed at the aire next to quayside it was brilliant and 2 mins walk in (no showers though so wouldn’t have worked for you here). The ferries were significantly cheaper (prob £150 less when we went) and heard quite a few tubers going by ferry because of this. Hopefully they have dropped back down for tunnel as it’s very handy for short trips like Brugge. Great vlog cheers
Thanks! Great advice :-)
Brilliant Jamie! 🙌🏻
Thanks Heather! Really appreciate it :-)
Great video Jamie and so glad that you enjoyed the Wild Walk. Didn't really get much chance to chat with you as I brought Bobby down to meet you all after the walk but look forward to catching up with you on another Wild Walk! 👍
Thanks. Bobby was very cute! Hopefully catch up properly on the next Wild Walk. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for the next dates.
Thanks for the video, was really useful. do you think doing this hike in March is a good idea?
Yes definitely. Of course Scotland being Scotland, there's always a bit of chance in the weather being dodgy. But March for the WHW should be no problem at all. Better than summer in my opinion. Enjoy! :-)
Good luck with the build! Come see us at Vanlove Fest when it's done!!
Thanks! And looking forward to checking out Vanlove fest for sure.
Thanks for the video, how are you getting on with it 2 yrs later? I see many reviews moaning about offline use, any problems for you? I had ViewRanger for many years, which was faultless when offline and no phone signal…then they sold out to another company who basically ruined what ViewRanger had started Love that part of the New Forest btw, I know that area very well
First on your list should be changing the wet belt to a chain. Take a look online for info about wet belt failures.
Wow, I've never heard of that. Thanks for the advice
@@jamies_adventures If you are lucky it wont have a wet belt, but if it does, then changing to a chain is a very good idea, as belt failure often means a new engine.
and I definitely don't want a new engine! Thanks
@@jamies_adventures I would think the best way of checking if it has a wet belt, is calling a Ford commercial dealer, giving them the VIN number, and asking the question? All common rail engines like clean fuel and oil, so a good idea to change the filters and oil often. Drain water from the fuel filter often as well.
Best of luck with the build hope it all goes to plan
Thanks!
The LSD will help a lot off-road. Good luck with the build.
Thanks! I'm knee deep in build videos here on TH-cam. Fingers crossed it goes well! Thanks for your comment. JG
