What is the Debt-to-income ratio (DTI) and why is it so important?
Funny, I live in senior housing and we can have guns in our apartments. How about the body farm ? .
We are planning on moving to TN and this is a super helpful video. Thanks so much for the great info presented in such a common sense manner.
I chose TX. CA became unlivable to me in 2016. Love the lake life.
Native Californians here that moved to KY in 2019. We considered ourselves political refugees, even though we moved from a conservative rural NorCal county. The handwriting was on the wall that even that area was eventually going to turn liberal and our votes would no longer matter. The people here are the nicest folks we have ever met, and even though we left behind family and friends, we are happy to be here. Good luck!
I've heard good things about Tennessee. This just confirms they were more than rumors. I was born in California and moved to Denver in 1974. I went to college and left Denver and moved to Utah (salt lake city) over 43 years ago.I became a Realtor 40 years ago. My average sale was just under 47,000 for a residential property. My average sale is now just over 600,000. California flight to Utah has skyrocked our prices. Utah is now the 3rd most unaffordable state behind Hawaii and California. Tennessee sounds like a great place to live. Hopefully it can handle the outsider influx of people....
I really enjoyed your video. Very informative and enjoyable. I left California (months shy of) 30 years ago and I thought it was getting bad then. 30 years back in New England and I can't wait to move. I had not considered Knoxville previously but it sounds like a very good place to explore for all the reasons you have listed. Thank you and blessings to your family. ❤
Amazing video i am from London UK and i just love the US lifestyle, Knoxville looks awesome. Crime here in the UK is crazy and the government is pathetic so i cant see it getting any better. The USA has a new lifeline with Trump in power now you are so lucky... God Bless you all. Great move to escape Cali lol
My daughter graduates from college in December 2025. Thinking of moving out of San Diego not long after that. Tennessee is on the radar because we know people that moved to Chattanooga and heard others moving to Tennessee but our adult children if they decide to follow need good paying jobs to purchase a house. Looking at Boise, ID but Tennessee is sure beautiful.
Enjoy poverty and humidity.
I’m so happy Californians are moving to Tennessee and not my state.
I normally dont reply to anything on TH-cam but i have to say, as a lifetime resident of Tennessee, I loved your video. I think you truly understand what it is to be a Tennesseean. We welcome people from all over if they have the same mindset as you. However, i also can relate to the folks above whose comments were stressing the fact that all the relocations are hurting the "natives". I am closer to retirement age and it would be impossible for my family to move. And before anyone comments that we should have planned better, there was issues such as a disabled child, cancer, and a major accident that depleted what reserves we have. Now the only things i can add to your video are these. 1. If a native tells you No, they mean it. You keeping pushing them and they are livel to whip out ol Betsy and she aint the dog. 2. The weather is different in every part of the state. Knoxville got a dusting of snow while the town ofRoan Mountain (2hrs east and absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous) got 8+ inches in the same snow storm. And 3. BEARS. They are EVERYWHERE. You got to watch for the bears. Yes there were bears even in Dollywood. So after all that....welcome to the neighborhood. I hope more people come with your attitude.
We native southerners know very well what the benefits of living here are. We would really like to keep it that way, no offense intended. I write from a native southerner's perspective but as one who has lived in many places worldwide as a career soldier. I could have retired anywhere but there was never any question that it would be anywhere but the South. All the comparisons you make to California come down in favor of Tennessee, but really those things resolve into the way things should naturally be - anything else is an aberration. You should be able to leave your doors unlocked and your toys in the yard. You should be able to look people in the eye and greet them and have them return your greeting. You should be able to expect privacy and have your personal space respected. You should expect your government to be efficient and minimal. You should expect help from strangers with no payment except a thank you. This is what a normal person should expect and this is what you get in the South. We're glad to have you and I hope you do what you say and completely adopt the Southern way of life because that's the only way it will continue to exist.
13 years ago I left my birth state and my home in Seattle for rural Kentucky. It changed my life - for the better. Since then, two of my daughters and their families moved here. 😁😎🤣
Vote accordingly. If you move to a red state for better quality of life, realize why there is a better quality of life. Don’t ruin our states with craziness. Assimilation is mandatory.
"Not a red state blue state thing" - discusses open carry, drug addiction, homelessness, community safety, and business opportunities.
We said it wasn't ONLY a red-state-blue-state thing. :-)
Sometimes what is understood need not be said.
Don’t come here and vote for that failed blue shit and ruin what is good here.
I did the same thing. Owned a small business up in Apple Valley, near Victorville. The government there just stomps small businesses. I moved to OH and we bought land in TN. It’s hard to be away from all of the things I loved but our money goes a LOT farther out here. I try to visit when I can and I’m always reminded of how crowded and expensive it is out there. I don’t regret it even when I’m homesick. People don’t realize how heavily taxed they are until they get out!
please no! go to Kentucky that would be a much better state for you
Thank you so much for this beautiful video and sharing your story ! We are moving to Dallas from Texas and I am showing it to my 10years old daughter to show her how good a change can be. She told me she is scared of the move even though she knows that there is a lot to do there but just leaving friends and missing them is what she is concerned about. ❤
just make sure you don't vote the same way in Tennessee as you did in California
When in Tennessee do as Tennesseans do and you’re good. Be grateful to natives.
Just don’t bring your politics with you.
I moved from Chicago area to East Tennessee 2 years ago. It was a huge difference. A good difference; I feel like I am living around nice, kind, easygoing people finally.
Watch outTennessee, appears the Ca letists has chosen you. they flocked to Co In 2022 and drove up the house prices as they whipped ov their 💰💰💰💰💰💰😡
leave your liberal ideology behind…
No worries. We left California for a reason. Interesting fact: There are more conservative Republicans in California than in any other state... It's just that they (and us while we lived there) are severely outnumbered.
When in Rome , do as the Roman. Please don’t bring a CA attitude to any other state. Not welcomed. CA is a Marxist failure.
I would agree with you! We're "political refugees," not "political missionaries." There is a reason we left California. Tennessee is a special place, and the people who built it deserve my family's best efforts to assimilate and contribute positively to the community we are now lucky enough to call home.
I was born in California but left the state for my dad’s job when I was 4. We moved to Johnson City, TN when I was 12 and I moved back to California 3 years ago. Recently visited East Tennessee and it was beautiful but honestly I’m glad to be back in California.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and to leave a comment. It means a great deal to us. We wish you all the very best wherever you decide to call home.
Welcome, have a memorable time. You made the correct choice as I know quite of a few Californians who moved into the area. What just happened in LA with the fires, many more are coming and they deserve a welcome too.
Thank you for your kind words. We sincerely appreciate them. Tennessee is a special place, and we are very grateful to have had the opportunity to relocate here.
Suck it up .. we have your name we have your progressive asses
Please don't take your democratic voting ideology to Tennessee

I was born and raised in northern California , Lassen County , WESTWOOD ! POPULATION 300 , DOG'S CATS & KIDS ! I started kindergarten & Graduated high school thier ! I joind the ARMY after graduation ! France , Germany , Vietnam, , Philippines , Korea ( married my wife ) lived thier 3 years , Germany 3 years ! Moved too Virginia ! Where we live ! I am now 78 ! Look at California now ? SICK STATE !
First of all, thank you for your service to our country! Lassen County is incredible. It feels more like Wyoming or Montana than California. I have a photo somewhere from Inspiration Point in Susanville. Yes. It's heartbreaking to see what has happened to California.
California is in trouble. Climate change is destroying coastal cities. Homeless gather in warm areas like California which makes sense. Tennessee is just a beautiful place my big knock is religion. Nothing brings out the evil and discrimitory practices better than religion. I have a good friend who recently moved to cotonvile and he is highly intelligent so he can't even mention being a Democrat or he would be lynched. All things considered Tennessee is better.
Quit voting Democrat
@@Getalife286 Never did. Never will.
Yeah, California really sucks
There are still a lot of good people there, and the geography is amazing.... but yeah.
@ Yeah, I live in Texas now, but I did live in Tennessee for about six months I know California i used to drive truck long haul before I health gave it up
We are born and raised in middle Tennessee, bottom line Tennessee is a Red State,we are blessed, but I don’t know how many more we can take in. Having enough water is becoming the biggest problem.
Understood.
Living all my life in Kentucky, I'm not sure I could live in a state where there were no "seasons". Good or bad they all have nuances not found in CA, FL, AZ etc. Living here with allergies definitely requires a daily allergy med!.....weather here in KY is similar to TN with a few minor exceptions. Enjoy your new life and if you. haven't made it to KY for a visit give it a try!
I agree! There's something special about the changing seasons and the beauty of the fall!
Thank you, my family and I live in Oregon and we too are debating moving out that way. We will have to fly out there and see it all.
Please visit us. Tennessee isn't for everyone, but we love it here.
I have been considering moving elsewhere myself. Thanks for sharing your story and I might travel there to check it out.
You're welcome! We hope you find what you're looking for.
I'd like to grow my own produce, in SoCal it's usually rotten at the store and still expensive. It's a major corp issue ..and transporting in plastic and workers that DGAF. Housing IS expensive everywhere. It's not because of people moving to those areas other than the people leaving raising their prices because they know it's a more desirable area. Silly that people blame immigrants when the people emigrating are the reason for that. TN is too expensive for us.... honestly we live in a nicer part of CA and it's not as much of a difference as I would expect. So we might not move. Though we prefer land and building our own non toxic home. I hope it's still more conservative there. Online many "threads" have been saying Knoxville area specifically is very California culture now....and surprisingly it's just the younger generations of born and raised TN kids that have never had family in CA (or NY etc) but are in the same general toxic school systems and exposed to the same Internet and media etc. Myself and husband have been born and raised here. Only lived away for a while in the military. We have friends and family in TN, TX, KY and more. Our tie to Eastern TN specifically has passed. So we would be completely alone at first. We also dislike the freedom in their homeschooling programs, it's actually more stringent than CA, TX, or FL... We are in a major city in SoCal and our postal service is either understaffed or just DEI so it's hard to get your mail many times. I also suffer from seasonal allergies out here. In TX it was much worse when I was in the military, different areas have various types of allergy to look into. I hear if you eat honey and propolis from local hives in that area you can develop a better immunity. 🍯 🐝 🌷
OK! Your point about younger generations moving left vs the Californians fleeing here is 100% spot on.
Left California for Pennsylvania two years ago with job location, still try to respect the culture here, but it’s not easy, besides the mainline of PA, the rest of state is hard to digest, thinking to move back home (still have house there), but hard to say no to the cost of living. (sliced cheaper on real estate and the much richer culture)
Such a lovely story. Welcome to the South. I hope you get to go to explore the neighboring states. Lots of cool things in our local states. You have a beautiful family.
We appreciate the warm welcome, and we are definitely looking forward to exploring the South!
Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, South Carolina, North Carolina. It’s the Bible belt and it’s awesome. People used to make fun of me all the time because I live in the Bible belt.😅😅😅
It was a large reason we moved here. :-)
Tennessee is a wonderful place so is Ohio. I live in a little town and I was a transplant and I love it. I’ve never in. I don’t know how many years is 15 years. I’ve never seen a frowny face in my town. Everyone is friendly and it’s the same in Tennessee, Tennessee is slowerpaste, it’s just a wonderful place. Don’t know who wouldn’t wanna live there.

NC is a red state,I live in Ohio another red state. every disaster that hit Ohio got hit any Palestine and as far as I’m concerned, our governor DeWine needs to get a spine and take care of his people in Palestine, Ohio, and then Helene struck, and then the fire struck California all these disasters that have happened have destroyed homes, people mountains, rivers, and the cleanup is going to be years and years to come and I’m not gonna go into what I think or what I think I just pray I don’t think I prayed this much at all my life daily daily daily

Moved to Tri city area about 5 years ago from San Diego. Miss the weather and Mexican food, but its so much more laid back here. Well worth the move!!
We do miss the authentic Mexican food... but not much else!
Welcome, please leave your woke ideology in California
