IPSC Manitoba, Indoor Level 2 Match - December 15, 2024
Since the new Government Ban has made my PCCs Prohibited, I am back to competing in the Production Optics - Handgun Division. not having shot my handgun in a couple years, this match was all over the place... not my finest match by any stretch, but happy to still be competing at all.
Also acquired a new 360 camera, so video contains a mix of First Person, and 360 Follow video
ended up 10th in Production Optics, and 1st in my Classification (C Class).

November 10th match, had my first squib in a match that caused me to Zero stage 9, but still managed to pull out the win.

Combined PCC and Mini Rifle (.22) match. Competitors could shoot one or both divisions. I shot both divisions - probably not a good idea as I had a terrible match with no time to focus on stages. Placed 3rd in both Divisions

Last Team Qualifier of the Season. went pretty well, had magazine issues on Stages 4 and 8 which likley cost me 1st, but overall it was a solid match.

Finally won a match, only took Franklin not being able to attend :) Overall, I was happy with my accuracy, with only 1 No Shoot, and 6 Charlies. Now to pick up my target acquisition speed.

2024 IPSC Manitoba Provincial Championships. Had a couple bad stages, but made up for it with some better ones along the way. Stage 11, was a prone start inside a "tent" pretty cramped, and my safety got jammed up, took a bit of time to fix that :( Ended up as follows 2nd in PCC Division, 13th Overall Top A Class - PCC Division Top Senior - PCC Division

IPSC Manitoba, Steel Challenge Match - July 28, 2024

We don't normally run Steel Challenge Matches here, but it was a great additional match this month. I did as good as can be expected for never having competed in one before. It was also a great opportunity to use my Derya TM22 rimfire rifle for a change. And yes it is painted in a urban graffiti motif. Placed 1st in my Division, as well as having the top time overall.

Our second Team Manitoba Qualifier for 2024. Had another solid set of runs. only 1 No Shoot and no Deltas. 2nd place with 92.10% of the winning score.

Team Manitoba Qualifier for PCC / Mini Rifle. June 9, 2024 Very windy day, and lots of ticks, but all went well. missed a steel on one stage, and hit a few No Shoots, but still managed a 2nd place with 97.93% of the Franklin Bodenchuk's winning score.

First Outdoor match and Provincial Qualifier of 2024. We had some rain off and on, but not too bad. had 2 poor stages but 1 amazing stage (stage 10) where I had best hit factor of the day overall.

The 2024 Canadian IPSC Canadian Nationals took place May 4/5 in Kamloops BC. I was competing as part of Team Manitoba, along with Franklin James , Catalino Pabuayon Jr., Paul Houle Our Final Placements were as follows: Franklin James - 3rd Douglas Portz - 26th Catalino Pabuayon Jr. - 34th Paul Houle - 58th Great competition and some very unique stages. BTSA ASL Rifle/PCC Match - April 27, 2024

This Event was a non-sanctioned IPSC match, and is primarily a Rifle event, as such the stages are designed with rifles and magnified optics in mind. I won't lie, this was a difficult match with micro targets out around 45m and plenty of minis around the same distances. We also have some steel out at 100m. might I suggest you change your grip a little, primary hand thumb should be on top of secondary hand thumb, that way your secondary hand has more coverage on the pistol grip. Just like you did towards the end of Stage 7.
LOL, I have been shooting my PCC so much I got into some bad habits with my pistol, and that was one of them. I narrowed the issue down to when I do a mag swap, I drop my primary thumb and fail to lift it when I regrip. After creating this video I realized that I was doing it and am working on that very thing. Thanks for the comment

Thanks Darrell, I made a bunch of dumb mistakes but staying almost completely clean (1 No Shoot, 0 Mikes) I was able to just squeak out 2nd. The video helps to show me all my faults so I can work on them for next match
@@dougportz well we are human😊 I see the course of fire was very similar to the handgun nationals That must of helped some.
@@darrellmatthies6895 yes, most of the CoF were the same basic setup, just with targets moved and different starting conditions for PCC. It was helpful having shot them the week earlier. I think on average my times dropped between 10-20% from my National times.
Too bad they thew stage 4 out. Speedy gonzales was a fun stage, i think my time slip says i did it in 3.2 or so but i had a charlie and a delta on paper. This was my first year competing so i was happy to able to shoot nationals. My first ever match was this may.
I wasn’t aware that stage 4 was thrown out. What was the issue?
@@dougportz They mistakenly gave only one penalty for some shooters who shot NS more than one.
Yes! Another C class shooter representing! Love it! At time stamp 2:54 and 6:45 oh brother I know that frustration lol Great job wish I could have made that match!

@@dougportz I am a little over a year into IPSC and the bug bit me bad lol. I am spoiled though I got some great coaches who put up with me and we shoot a ton of matches. I am kicking myself for missing Nationals I will definitely hit next years.
