Owning a KIA Long-term, My 12 Year-150k Mile Review. Great Cars BUT...
Are Kias reliable? This is my long-term review of what it is like owning a Kia. Full of things you should know before buying a used Kia. Whether it is a Kia Soul, EV9, K5, Sortage, Sorento or Telluride. I talk about the Kia dealership (s) near me, and how well it has kept its value.

    mind posting the trailer manufacturer name? I've been looking a 7x14 single axle who also does customization, things like axle upgrade(torsion), 7narrow axle, more sealing of the skin, extended tongue etc.... I'll do all the interior work, just need the right platform to start with. any help appreciated as the tailor industry has many shady folks.

    Thank you for your very honest, detailed review. I'm in the market for a good, reliable used car. Been doing my research on all the recommended models for months now. I was drawn to the great look and styling of the Soul, but it is no longer on my list. The more I read, the more I realized what a serious risk that would be, in every way -- personal safety, money, dealership stress, warranty/repair fights, numerous recalls . . . no thanks. What do you recommend instead of a Soul? Thanks for your help. Great job on the review!

    • @lifeunderthesun831

      I spent a STUPID amount of time researching my next vehicle. Test drove everything. There are TONS of good choices, but most manufactures eliminated themselves when I went to their dealer(s) and started getting shady service. It was crazy the amount of lies, and B.S. they would try to shovel my way. I ended up going with a Mitsubishi, but had to drive pretty far away before I found a dealer who would actually honor the manufacturer discounts/incentives.

    • @lifeunderthesun831

      Your question will be the topic of my next video. The advice will be as follows: If you have a local mechanic that you trust (mine retired so I'm S.O.L.) then pick a brand that they like to work on. What brand you pick isn't as important as the quality of the mechanic who keeps it on the road. The car market is dropping right now, so keep checking for manufacturer incentives/sales, wait for a good one then pull the trigger :)

      @@lifeunderthesun831I have a 2021 Kia Soul now, and it’s been reliable so far. I have 68k miles and only gone to the dealer for recalls (2). Luckily I do have a good mechanic I can trust in case things go wrong. My last car was a 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander, and Mitsubishi was great about providing loaners for recalls, etc. They also impressed me by honoring the warranty when my transmission started to go out at 88k miles. Fully replaced with zero cost. If they had better products I’d buy from them again.

      Sour, yes, and with very good reasons to be. Listen to the hell he went through with Kita dealerships. They treat their customers like dirt and refuse to fix things under warranty. Not to mention the countless, serious safety recalls. Engine catching fire while driving them? He said he would not be getting another Kia Soul. That speaks volumes.

    • @lifeunderthesun831
      @lifeunderthesun831 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That pretty much sums it up. I REALLY liked my Kia Soul. But it has been sitting in my driveway useless for the last month as I wait for recall parts, and for the dealer to set aside time to make the fix. Luckily I have other vehicles, but if I didn't I would be SCREWED.

    I have to disagree with you saying insulation is a waste of money. I have lived in mine for three months straight, and run air conditioning as well. If I leave the side door (that I never got around to insulating yet) facing the morning sun, it gets hot in there FAST. However in the exact same spot, the following day I'll spin the trailer around, and that makes all the differance. I will be taking both door apart, so I can get them done. I also did the floors.

    • @lifeunderthesun831
      @lifeunderthesun831 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Aluminum in terms of the frame is a no no because aluminum is basically non ductile at quantity that's required to safely build a strong frame and highly susceptable to stress cracking especially at the welds. Steel is highly ductile taking, absorbing stress energy and releasing it via flexing and bending non carastrophically. Think of a bike frame. Steel frames while heavier tend to ride much better better because their thinner tuning walls allow bending and flexing to release that energy. An aluminum bike if made to the same specs in terms of tube diameter and wall thickness would break apart in a few weeks to months of daily riding and would fail catastrophically.

      I tow it, with a full sized chevy tahoe. It's not a problem towing the weight, the SUV handles the trailer great. But I really have to be mindful of the RPMs on the engine. If I go over 55, the milage sinks to 10 mpg. A mid size suv and a lower height trailer would really help. As it is now, it's too expensive to tow it long distances, as it would be cheaper to simply rent a motel.
