On The Meaning Of Planting A Garden
With or without kids. My first video from Germany (though there is a podcast already, head over to spotify for that one if you are interested). As I am getting ready to plant my first German garden with the kids, I couldn't help but notice (yet again, as I do every spring) the parallels between gardening and life. And all the valuable lessons that planting a garden (or a single pot) can teach u...

Involving Kids in Real-Life Work (and teaching them how to learn)
A short than usual video, but not a less important one. As we are preparing for a move and we pack and prepare to hand over the keys to our rental home, I realized again how grateful I am that my parents taught me how to do stuff. Like, practical stuff around the house. And how to learn how to do them, when I have no clue. Doing handy work around the house is by no means my hobby, but I can sti...
10 Things I Appreciate In The Netherlands As An Expat

I 've been living in the Netherlands since August 2010. I came here to study and went on to get married and start my family here. All three of our kids are born in this little kingdom under sea level as well. In this video I am sharing with you 10 things that make me feel really grateful that life led me to spend here the past 13 years and especially the first years as a new parent, that are qu...
Why choose a Waldorf School?
How did I manage to make a whole video about Waldorf education without talking about the Head-Heart-Hands connection? See, that's why one needs notes... Apart from that little mishap, in this video you hear why I made our move to Germany even more complicated, by insisting that our kids go to a Waldorf school and a Waldorf school only. Even though they are private, have waiting lists and the re...
Why I am moving away from Social Media (and to a newsletter)

Kids And Food: on picky eaters, forcing diets and eating disorders

The complexity of what we feed our children starts the moment they are born. From myths surrounding newborn nutrition, to the way we feed our toddlers and what we choose to feed our little ones, up to what our teenagers choose to eat and how it affects their mental health, child nutrition is a minefield. In this episode I am sharing with you my personal insights on different aspects of the topi...

I’m still in the states but looking for a good Waldorf school for my younger children. How did you choose the one your kiddo went to?
"Planning a garden is an act of rooting..." I liked that quote so much... I felt that when I started planting our new trees in our new home in Greece... I loved your video.. so many nice metaphors and so many benefits... Allow me to add one more benefit: A garden can significantly reduce air pollutants around your house, giving you a space with much less toxic chemicals in the air you breath.
that's definitely such a great bonus as well! I naively thought the air quality here in the mountains would be okay-ish, and it is compared to many other parts of Europe of course, but still we are talking about a country with heavy industry and animal agriculture, so... :/
I am interested in the differences with NL and similarities with Greece! (And… you are wearing the bracelet 🥲🥲🥲🥰)
OF COURSE I am :) <3

Thanks for your video my mind has been on Advent as the Waldorf school I went to in Stourbridge had its Advent Fayre this weekend....as I have grown older I can't help but feel the school has some roots in paganism with its relationship to nature, at my school we even had a Maypole
out of curiosity, would you find that bad? I mean the relationship to paganism? I can understand that for people coming from a Christian background paganism has negative connotations. I see it as a collection of rituals with ancient roots to honor the Earth.
I think its a wonderful thing as I get older I am learning more about Steiner from watching videos on TH-cam and feel that he has that same natural relationship to nature as Pagans , I used to be a Christian but now lean more towards Paganism , I am also feeling for the first time that I am starting to understand Steiner's philosophy towards Waldorf education , also nice to meet you Alexia @@alexiamarthasymvoulidou
@@nicholson392005 thank you for your reply and nice to meet you too :) I 've got a Waldorf playlist on my channel, you might find that interesting. I am looking into reading more into Steiner as well. Not easy, but worth the effort.
@alexiamarthasymvoulidou I will have to look at your play list, I find I am going through a time in my life where I am hungry for spiritual enlightenment to really feel what life is about, I am watching some videos about some thinking behind Zen Buddhism some amazing insights there...hope you have a lovely weekend 😀
lets get it gang!

Norwegian power.
juf Hege for the win.
Thank you for this video! I breastfed my two kids for 7 continuous years (both 3.5 years, I didn't tandem) and today I feel this was just too much for me. Seeing back I know I needed to wean them earlier, probably around their 2.5 years, or I needed to find more support to be able to have more hours without my kids. Being a stay at home mom for those years, the breastfeeding journey started as a wonderful journey for me, but at the end left me with feelings of exhaustion. I wish I had seen this video back then!
I wish I had to wisdom to make this video back then 😅 Thank you for sharing your experience! Hopefully it will help others to evaluate their limits better than we did 🙃

Thank you so much for this. Our son is participating in his first advent at sunrise Waldorf on Vancouver island in Canada. We will definitely use some of your suggestions in our home.
oh thanks for watching! And I am glad you found this video helpful!
What type of mat are you using under the felting
Beautiful. Can you make more like this? What kind of felt? And thread?
Cuteee!
So cute. Love it!!
Can I ask what type of material do you use for the stitches and flower stems? Thank you! Beautiful crown!
Is the felt sheet made of sheep’s wool?
Wow!!! Just what’ I was looking for, for inspiration and how too!! Thanks so much!!!
you are very welcome :)
Clever lady❤️
Thanks! Im considering Waldorf school to my daughter. Im very much convinced about it already! The main reason is that my daughter don't like to go to regular public kindergarden. I can't find anything wrong at her school so my impression is that its too many students in the same class. We will move her to Waldorf after summer, i like the idea and phylosophy and the arts so I will at least try.
So helpful. Thank you
Did you make your sweater? If so do you have the pattern...or know where I could get it? Also your felting is very inspiring. I am currently working on a dragon to add to a crown. Thanks for the video!
In a way, I did: I took my husband's store-bought sweater that had 30% wool in it, put it lovingly in the drier and it shrunk to my size. Joking aside, I 've cut the label and I am sorry I can't help with where we got it from.
@@alexiamarthasymvoulidou thanks anyway!
Thanx for sharing Alexia! Τi mousiki akougate sto video? Paizei kati oraio!
Thank you for this and the detailed email you sent. Very helpful! I'm starting my own shop on Etsy and I find this whole networking business tricky. I'm offering programming and technology activities that parents can do at home with their children. People are very interested in hearing how to teach or engage their children in to these activities, but when I ask for money for it (and it really isn't a lot), the interest fades away or what they say is that they can do it themselves. People do pay for baby swimming lessons, where they do the activity together with their child and someone instructs them. Why don't they teach themselves that? My ideas look simple (and they have to so that everyone can do them at home) but to make a programming activity for a five year old that actually teaches thinking in an algorithmic way, is not that easy and takes a lot of thinking and time. Do you have any ideas how to tackle this?
And I'm sorry if I messed your comment section, it showed the same comment four times at first.
I hear you loud and clear my friend. I think you should price your work as much as you think it's worth and sooner or later (usually later), the people will come. I made the horrible mistake of charging low when I first started with content writing. The 5-star reviews came one after the other, but when I tried to raise my price (so that I am not paid essentially 2 euros per hour), repeat clients started going away. But that's a niche where the competition is huge. I offered (as per clients) great writing, but people can do with okayish content too. When I decided to focus on Waldorf toys and Montessori material, I decided to price my products in such a way that I would value my work. I looked around at similar products on Etsy. It is a very small niche and prices are similar. I write detailed explanation of the work that goes in every creation and sure, there are many people who say "I can order that for 1/3 of the price from Ali express" and walk away. But there are also those who really value the quality of the materials and the detail of the work. Long story short, a very low price can even cause dis-trust to people. A very cheap Waldorf toy has either low quality materials or is poorly made. Similarly, there might be many activities for children out there, but the ones you offer with the expertise you have, are one of a kind. And you shouldn't lower your price to attract a crowd. That way you might lure in a few more clients, but those "cheap" types won't come back anyway. Getting yourself out there, making videos, presenting your knowledge so that people know the face behind the product is a way to make people trust you and be willing to pay a fair price for your product. Hope some of this helps :)
Beautiful!!
