I knew yanderes had its own issues and problems but I didn’t know it was a stereotype related to BPD, the closest thing I knew about it (as an anime fan) was that it was a trope/archetype similar to tsunderes, kuuderes, etc. I appreciate your comment especially your explanation, gives me a different perspective.

it's because yandere is actually a demonization and fetishization of people with BPD, not autism ^^ it fetishizes common intrusive thoughts people with BPD have as well as the "fp/favorite person" occurance/relationship people with BPD experience!

​@@dazed-madness it's possible to have narcissistic tendencies and traits without being diagnosed with NPD, right? Same should and does apply to any other disorder or mental illness. Having a person you're obsessed with doesn't *necessary* mean you have BPD and not understanding people's emotions doesn't *necessary* mean you have autism. Yes, it can be a symptom, but again, not necessary. Yandere is just a trope after all. Most if the times authors just want to have a lover-killer character without thinking about anything deep or serious.

@@eestifan4ever This is true! But, the thing is Yandere was made SPECIFICALLY as a fetishization of young japanese women and girls with BPD. I have done a lot of research on this as I am diagnosed with BPD and have been fetishized in this way by multiple people in my life. I will not be debating the fact that it's a harmful character archetype/stereotype/fetishization considering I have been *personally* fetishized because of it. editing this to say it is actually insane how you're sat here trying to say that it's just a trope! i assume this also applies to p*dophilia in media considering its a medically recongized mental disorder? or is it just things you people can fetishize and make sexual without getting in trouble?

@@eestifan4ever you are literally telling me, someone victim of sexualization and fetishization BECAUSE of this stereotype/fetish that it's okay because its a character trope. so i'm telling you to apply that to everything. as you said, this should be applied to all mental disorders, so apply it to fictional p*dophilia as well. i bring it up because both fetishizations can encourage seeking out harmful relationships and encourage behavior of those who act that way. yanderes kill people. they would be criminals. if you are excusing them excuse p*dophiles as well. i dont want to debate it further because its useless to debate with someone who clearly has never experienced the direct impact this fetishization has on people with BPD

@@millsytea (trigger warning) this is kind of hard for me to talk about, but I have also been groomed and when I saw someone post about my groomer. I did get really defensive but after a couple months, I realize that he wanted to come to my house so I told my parents what was happening and I’m so glad that I did and he was never seen again. He was trying to get me into a fetish that is inflating characters and stuff.

the term yandere shouldn't be used period as the yandere character type is a fetishization and demonization of people with BPD ^^

@@TheYTHerster exactly like that. a character like that doesn't need a word, let alone a word that demonizes and fetishizes a real disorder that is already so demonized by media. people with BPD are already seen as awful and insane, lets not add to that!

Hi, I am black myself and I know that I can’t speak for all Black people about this, although I didn’t like Sashley using the N-word, I like that she apologized for using it and educating herself because people don’t take it to account that people from around the world never heard words like that before and isn’t educated on it. No they don’t have to forgive her for it, but that doesn’t give them a free pass to harass her for her mistake because kids say and do stupid things that they’re not proud of later, so constantly get another case for it isn’t any better they just need to leave her alone.
