Wolverine Eating Dead Mountain Goat and Glacier Flyover.
มุมมอง 2519 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
I came across a wolverine and some ravens eating on a dead mountain goat at the edge of the lake,. You can see the wolverine heading for the trees as I come up on the goat. I then flew down the glacier and headed home.

What engine do you have ?
@@hillcrestannie O-360 A1D. 83” Hartzell Trailblazer.
Very Cool. I’m a 170A owner.
Never know what you’ll see flying around AK. I’ve found dead sea lions, dead whales, dead moose etc. I guess I see lots of dead stuff flying around.
Hell yeah! Sound awsome brother
Badass
Fantastic song! Great job
Hell yeah! 🤘🏿
Stellar playing, man.
Thanks. It’s been a while since I’ve played much. I have another channel with my brother (Robert Landis) where we used to post songs. Been a long time ago now.
What wheel skis are you running?
@@Flying-Fishsticks Schneider with 8.50s. They have block off plates where you deflate the tire can make them “straight skis” kind of. They’re heavy and kind of shitty but they came with the plane and work well enough for what I do.
@@New2Me170B Oh cool! I’ve seen those around for cheap and wondered if I could run them on my 170. Seems like they are no longer supported and getting a new STC would be impossible.
@ field approval would likely be pretty easy.
Watch out for eagles
The music is a bit extreme for this video don't you think
@@Darthrocker06 intentionally ironic.
Beautiful winter scenery. It looks like fun.🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
It was a blast putting my 6 year old’s sled to the test.
Dang that was quick and a tailwind , dont think ive filmed any 170's that have got off the ground so fast . Impressive
@@ALASKACROPCIRCLEUNIVERSITY one of my takeoffs at the Seldovia fly-in was 160’. I have a video of that posted I think. This takeoff was probably between 200-250’. But full fuel etc. and everything not taken out of the plane.
Top!!
👏👏👏👏
Can you get away from a bear tho
@@rickyjayster2586 a beer is running me down on that thing for sure. But I’ll have some lead injections for him.
I thought you weren't supposed to stand on the wing struts.
@@gregwatruba4541 it has a step with grip tape on it.
This is why i stay on land.
You gonna need a bigger boat.
How y'all cook them clams?? Baked, fried, or chowder??
@@gregwatruba4541 fried mostly.
I want to dig clams there.
Go NEMO!
Great place to practice touch and goes in a float plane-hardly any traffic.
How’s the Diamond Ridge project going?
Working on our Army Corp Permit.
Looks like Ground Hog Day to me…😂 #spitpilotsunited
Some good duck hunting right there. 😊
@@5AcresandaMoose the Kachemak Bay park committee or whatever shutdown wheel planes landing on beaches in the park recently.
@@New2Me170B what?!😱 They just keep whittling…
@@5AcresandaMoose yeah. Super annoying. Homer politics drives me nuts.
@@New2Me170B I didn’t move back to Alaska in 2012 to live in city limits. A few years out East Hill was enough for me.
@@5AcresandaMoose I was born and raised there and kind of feel some ownership to try and make things better. But it’s a losing battle. We got the jetski ban reversed then they just reimplemented it a couple years later. Same with plastic bag ban.
Nice one!
@@5AcresandaMoose it ended up being a little over 62”.
@@New2Me170B outstanding!
@@5AcresandaMoose definitely not my biggest moose but biggest one with the plane. It barely fit.
Pulled back on the yoke before achieving V2, or rotate speed, causing a tail strike.
@@RossLougheed no shit, I did it on purpose.
Oh damn, thats impressive to me
Nice way to get into a Ground Loop, landing tailwheel first. 😱
@@lonestarhog7407 mains and tailwheel touched at the exact same time. Regardless, thanks for the flight lesson.
@@New2Me170B The mains bounced and left the tailwheel grounded. Forcing the mains onto the runway and pushing the control stick forward to transfer the weight onto the wheels can result in a bounce or pilot-induced oscillations. Pilots must wait for the mains to touch before advancing the stick forward-and then, be patient while the aircraft decelerates before bringing the tail down.
@@lonestarhog7407 I know how to land. Haha. I wasn’t doing a wheel landing I was doing a three point landing as short as I could. Sometimes when I have better grip I hit the brakes hard enough that I hold the tail in the air. But once again, thanks for the lesson. Haha.
When helicopter pilots fly fixed wing aircraft...
Only a fixed wing pilot I’m afraid.
Why didn't you go to a shoreline with grass instead of wood and rocks to find glass gloats?
@@ronrowe8168 I don’t know. That’s just the beach we landed on. We’ve gone to others since. Some of them nice and grassy some of them not.
The best clams have got to be from Alaska.
❤❤❤
Great video! Yes the mountain scenery of Alaska from the plane is amazing! If you are interested I have just uploaded a film of the flight to Mount Fairweather in Glacier Bay NP. We did the ski ascent afterwards (film will come later). The flight: th-cam.com/video/imCH9gNydnM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3rr-Dqgq2Z6Pfyyl
I love it ! Wish I could land my C170A that good!
I only post the good landings. Haha.
Thank you so much for these videos! My pretty-stock 170B and I like to imagine we are you. How about a tour around the 170B?
I can post a video like that at some point. I’ve thought about doing one for a while. I’ll need to clean it up a bit first. Haha.
I’ve never been confident to land there. You have the 180 hp and sportsman’s?
Yeah. The 83” trailblazer helps too. It would be tight with a stock 170 and any weight. I had my whole family in there with our gear from our Talkeetna strip and about 1/2 tanks.
Were you in Seldovia the other day? I think I saw your plane there.
@@New2Me170B yes, I was there all week.
@@AlaskaBoys I’ve seen around. I went to your channel to see your plane and recognized the black rudder.
Great landing, super slow! Love it
Greased it in! I envy you!
Thanks. It was a pretty good one. They aren’t all that good.
Where, exactly?
Up the Kustutan River.
Where is the location?
Random ocean gravel bar in Kachemak Bay just west of Glacier Spit.
That is skill 💯
Dude you are literally living the dream
Loved that landing and that Stol 😍
I saw a Maule and a Zenith on a gravel bar decided to stop in and say hi and the owner of the Zenith filmed the landing.
Bad ass, great day to fly!
I remember when my wife and I and two kids could fit in the plane together!! They grow up fast.
Really cool video guys! Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks. I think the beaches were picked clean of glass balls before got there. Maybe next time.
Great video ! Panning that 360 cam as you turned on to the runway at the beginning 😎. Nice butter landing at the end 👌. Can you still use the beach at high tide to land?
Depends on what the tides are doing, but I can a lot of the time.
Great camera work. I hope someone had walked the beach first. I would hate to see winter if that was spring. Cheers from NZ.
Do you mean walk it before landing? I always fly over and check any off airport landing spot before landing. I’ve been on this beach numerous times and know where all the big rocks etc are.
That’s a fun beach in a cross wind. Nice vid!
Better than mud.....
