Based in upstate South Carolina, we're starting out our channel sharing some of our favorite activities in our favorite vacation spots. You'll see us going on ghost tours, playing putt putt, and just generally exploring in different destinations around the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida. Stay tuned, because eventually we plan to spread out to new horizons too!
Tweetsie Ghost Train 2024 Full Train Ride
The Ghost Train returned for one weekend in 2024. Unfortunately, due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina, Tweetsie Railroad will not be reopening until the Christmas season, focusing instead on helping their community to heal.
We were fortunate enough to return to Ghost Train this year on opening night, and want to share with you all the full train ride from this year’s Ghost Train.

i went for the first time and it was amazing a lady at the gift shop gave me free mini ruby slippers to use as nik naks
I love that there is a different scent! The fast lane pass is neat and can def see it get busier closer to Halloween. The shows was so fun!!
They should make a Vedio of the oz of return to Oz because Drothrty meets tic toc the royal army of Oz and Jack pumpkin head and Gump as they join her on the quest to rescue the Scarecrow from the nomi king and the knomking turn everyone else to statues and the princess Mumbie was the one that kept Jack pumpkin head lock in a room .

Never done the Disney dinng plan
This will be our 3rd time, but first time with the new dining plan. Luckily we got a free quick service dining plan and just upgraded to the regular plan. If not we would not have gotten it this year.

I wonder of they're gonna put any of the cobwebs on 190 this year. I'd say if they do it would be a small amount like it has been for the past couple of years.
I think so, but maybe to the point it would be easy to take off or hide for during the day operations.

I love that 190 will be running during the day Time I love seeing 12 but im fine with it.
Same here, especially if they do a 90’s throwback with the Ghost Train, but it will definitely be weird not seeing 12 run for those fall train rides.

What happened to engine 12 will it be running again
Engine 12 will hopefully be back next year. I will have a video of the train shop tour up that will help explain what’s going on with 12. Here is what Tweetsie sent out. Locomotive No. 12 to Undergo Major Restoration (Blowing Rock, NC, August 17, 2024) - One of Tweetsie Railroad’s historic steam locomotives, the 107-year-old No. 12, will be out of service for several months for major restoration. “When you maintain and operate a steam locomotive that is over a century old, there is always the chance there will be some down time,” says Chris Robbins, President of Tweetsie Railroad. “We wish the timing would have been different, especially with our annual Railroad Heritage Weekend coming up August 24th and 25th . ” Guests can expect a few changes in the in the originally released schedule for Railroad Heritage Weekend. Locomotive No. 190 will run on Saturday and Sunday featuring the Wild West show and on Saturday evening for the Photo Special. Locomotive No. 12 and the vintage 1870’s Coach Car No. 5 will be available for guests to have the rare opportunity to step up into the cab and tour the coach car. Robbins reports that Tweetsie Railroad’s locomotive mechanics discovered some thin areas on the boiler firebox during a routine maintenance check. An independent testing firm was summoned to inspect the boiler for verification, and then the NC Dept. of Labor’s Boiler Safety Bureau was notified. The boiler is the original one installed by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1917, and last underwent major repairs in 1979. “We are unsure how long the restoration will take since it is a custom re-build, but we expect to see Locomotive Number 12 ready to run for the 2025 season, ” says Robbins. “We are going to make all efforts to repair Number 12 and return it to service,” adds Robbins. Guests can follow regular updates on tweetsie.com and the park’s social media accounts.
