    I've just recently done a couple of workshops on bookbinding, and I think this is a brilliant design. If I decide to pursue bookbinding more, I will probably build one of these. Thank you so much!

    Nice!! Yes, reproducing an authentic looking Grail Diary is not for the faint of heart!! 😉 I remember around the release of IJ and the Dial of Destiny there was a flood of Grail Diaries ads showing up on my Facebook feed, different outlets but they all used the same copy and paste descriptions and videos...all for a cheap price 🤣 Seemed bogus to me so I didn't take the bait...

    I bought a Moleskine-like sketchbook earlier this year because of the cheaper price (about half of that of a Moleskine)...waste of money! The weight of the paper was not the same as Mokeskine's, watercolor buckles the pages quite a lot...it just feels cheap... It's not much fun to draw in and if it's not fun or you have to force yourself to use it what's the point?! I'm slowly filling it up (because I hate wasting a sketchbook) and can't wait to go on to a real Moleskine or make one like your tutorial but with heavier weight paper!!

    This type of "perfect" binding is better when the text block is held in the vise you skew the the spine one way, apply glue and then skew the spine the other way and apply glue. That way you get some glue down a bit farther between the pages which will hold better than glue just applied to the top of the spine....

    Excellent tutorial. To go even further, you might want to replace the quote marks with 'real' ones: ,,hello'' instead of "hello".

    nice video. you might think about offering the re-typeset version you're using for sale as a digital file if it was originally a public domain book.

    That's a good idea. I will definitely make one for myself. I think I will number the holes on the sliding part so I can be sure to punch the right places for each job.

    • @PageOdyssey
      @PageOdyssey หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, it's on my plans after I missed that hole in the video. I have also drawn an arrow pointing to the stopper so I don't place the slider in the opposite direction, this will ensure the holes are aligned.

    That's a very neat job. I was admiring the book clamp (I am not sure if that's what it is called). Is it hand made?

      Thank you! It's a bookbinding finishing press, I did it myself, like most of my bookbinding tools. Maybe it can be the subject for a next video. But it is basically, 2 pieces of 2x6, two long bolts attached to a round handle.

    I love the way pages get wrinkled after wetting. I get the same effect in watercolor journals just by filling the pages.
