Ahh this brought back memories. Not only of SB, but seeing the "J&J Steel" on the side and his relationship he had with fellow racer at the time, Johnny Johnson (Black 99). Johnny owned J&J Steel as well as several Ideal Ready Mix locations. My dad bought late models and motors off Johnny. Awesome video, thanks
Watched this race from the top of Sathoff’s trailer. Side note, Sathoff was still racing late models and went to modified’s in 92, I believe. Sunset was my home track and watched the Kosiski reign first hand. If looks could kill, Steve would’ve been dead after this race but Joe kept his distance.
I hope to meet you at ACS, Nick. I want to thank you for uploading this video and staying with my Dad after he won in the mods. I'll be racing there next year. Thanks again.
During Bloomquists qualifying laps it seemed like his car just jumped forward on the last 3rd of the back straightaway like it was just starting to hit the motors powerband......wow !
What I find interesting is the difference in sound of engines now. These sound like pick-up truck engines. The truly purpose built SLM engines of today SOUND like a racing engine.
At the very beginning of video as Mr. Bloomquist pulled on track for qualifications there was a name spoken by announcer….Pete Parker. Ca anyone tell me if it was the GREAT Pete Parker of Kaukauna Wi. If so oh man he was the man everyone rooted against across wi, ill, minnesota dating back at least to early 70s. Id be rootin for him here though
I think it was him. But not sure. I know when he and Willie Kraft came to Kingsport Speedway yrs, and yrs ago, they were both faster than #41 Buck Simmons but since it was a one groove track they never got around Buck. My dad actually turned me on to Willie Kraft. Them 2 guys(Pete and Willie) wasn't hated in southeast. Always ran good that I got that I got to see.
@@MrChristopherHaas Thank you for the info. I've all but stopped going to dirt track racing. They don't run supers around here anymore and I haven't been to a late model race since '17. Took my nephew to Eldora. I'd seen #83 Willie Kraft down south a several times and no matter where he was racing, if they didn't know his name before the race they knew it after the race.
@@cumminsrealpower680 the dirt tracks i grew up with near milwaukee mile are gone now. Regular folks cant afford to go racing any more, factory workers and such. Like my dad. And his friends. I have learned who Willie Kraft is through you tube, recently discovered dirt track racin isnt as dead as i thought it was, watching races from last 30 years that i missed.
Went to Sunset Speedway many times when I was younger. I have since moved out of state. I hear it has closed and the land was developed. Thankfully I have many great memories of the races.
No problem Randy. I remember you well. It’s fun to watch 24 years later. Love hearing Hutch on the sidelines. He would have been so much fun to play for. I miss him a lot.
Great video of the big boy! I caught it in North Bend, Nebraska a few weeks ago! I’m your new sub 👍

Did Webb get 3rd or 4th??
Did Scott ever come back to ACS?
Couldn't watch after the first race. Cameraman swinging that thing everywhere. 🤮
If Only we could go back 30 years and record it correctly.
I have a video from Roger Vansickel, would this be the same video as this?
What a horseshit move.

I love this
You can hear my family and I yelling in the background for my Dad @ 13:00. Thank you so much for uploading this.
Gotta love the old days when they oiled dirt tracks!
56 and 22 those were the days
Good thing for Scott , Jeff Purvis had left for ASPHALT/NASCAR by then
And Rodney Combs
😅😅😅
Wow
I grew up in Prescott in the 80's and I absolutely loved hearing the roar of the engines from Corning on a summer Saturday night.
Great......now I'm seasick.....

These sound like what the crate Motors sound like. 😂 😉🤣
That thumbnail. God i love the Banquetmobile.

@@cumminsrealpower680 what im wondering is….are you a fan of the cummins diesel roadster that ran indy? No pit stops for fuel lol
Off the Trac, back on , place great , went there in the early 70s.
Tough ass chilly mud fling race 🏁
Was that today already?
What happened to #74 Mark Noble??

Very cool video. I grew up going to the races here. I remember some of the cars but the drivers names are a little foggy after 30 years!
Chuck for the win 🏆

not june it's from july
Man this takes me back, wish cameras were as high tech back then as they are now, i could watch this all day
I think this was the year the UMP cars came to Crown Point Indiana and Bloomquist was the fastest thing on the track.
I have that bloomquist little car in my room
Thanks for putting this on TH-cam Nick! We guarded each other for most the game. Randy DeWitt

Where did you find all of these videos?
Hi just curious if you have any film from mid to late 80s at Crawford county speedway?
I don’t have much left to post. I’m pretty sure I posted everything I had from Crawford county.
