Great video. Very clear and complete instructions. Made the install much more straightforward (and perhaps even possible!!). Thank you!!!
Thank you! I'm glad the video was helpful!
It's too easy to get behind and cut
If you need something a little more heavy duty, check out some of our other locks: upfitsupply.com/shop/?categories/Safety-Security/categories/Safety-Security%3ELocks/categories/Safety-Security%3ELocks%3EDoor-Lock-Kits
Great video Ryan! I went with American Van preassembled shelves.
Thank you!
Do they fit a new Nissan frontier
Yes, they do! They make a line of boxes specifically for mid-size trucks: upfitsupply.com/product/weather-guard-crossover-box-midsize-04/
Thank you.
You bet!
How much does this weigh?
It's about 86 lbs.
whats the length of cargo space on a 148?
It's about 126"
How’s the grip on this floor?
It works really well, even when wet. Most floors get slippery when wet, but this one retains most of its grip. It's almost like a sandpaper type surface, so shoes/boots grip really well, but can still load pallets and other equipment with ease.
Which one is more affordable to be worked on in a shop?
Do those additional threaded inserts have to be installed from the rear side of the floor or can they be installed above (blind)? Specifically for spots where you can’t use the provided tracks.
They do need to be installed from the rear/under side of the floor. They have little teeth that bite into the bottom of the floor and helps form a nice clamp on the flooring. If for some reason you can't access the underside of the floor (and you don't have an EV) you could install a blind faster (ie. plus nut) into the sheet metal of the floor itself.
Getting ready to order new boxes for my truck, but I need to know how much space I need from the back of the crossbox to any obstruction (in this case a transfer tank) when the lid is open. Any help there? Trying to see if I can fit 56" side boxes and its just that close. LOL
Just measured ours and the lid will overhang the rear of the box by about 2" when open. Typically this is enough to mount the toolbox tightly up against the forward part of the bed and the lid can still open without touching the cab. Depending on your transfer tank, the lid may sit taller than the highest part of the tank, so there may not be any conflicts there.
Thanks, Ryan, for doing all the bending and hunching over for us. 😁 Me old bones wouldn't cooperate! 👍
Haha! You got it!
@@upfitsupply😉👍
Thank you for the video! Super helpful.
Thank you!
Oh I’d love one of these but i have a swivel seat that I HAD to have that I rarely use 😂. Ah well, live and learn. These look really nice.
You were mounting on the B pillar and trying to see where it would mount. There are 2 pre threaded holes. What size bolts go in there? Thanks
Sorry! We no longer have this van. However, I'm pretty sure those holes are not threaded.
I have a mid roof, mid length transit trail, I’m trying to figure out how many square ft approximately the interior is so I know how much flooring to order. I’m having a hard time figuring it out, do you have any suggestions?
The drawing on this page might be helpful: upfitsupply.com/measurements/ford-transit-148-wb-interior-cargo-measurements/
Looks secure and a visible deterrent. Folding the tops of the doors over is unfortunately too common. Am I presuming that you can’t fit higher due to no access to the keep bolts ?
Technically the locks are universal, so they can be mounted anywhere as long as there is the needed clearances. We mounted at the recommended location from the manufacturer. Folding the top of the doors does happen, as does an angle grinder cutting a hole in the body of the van. 😬
you can cut that with an angle grinder
That's right! Usually when someone is willing to go the angle grinder route, they can just cut a hole in the van itself.
Good info - thanks.
Thank you!
I drive a 2014 Transit Connect 2.5L that was a prior service vehicle for LG... They really suck but they are the best of the bunch of the available smaller cargo vans... Most things are specialized, not standardized, so getting parts is both expensive and time consuming. The design drives me crazy 24/7. Aside from maybe the fuel economy and the fact it's a compact van, that's about where the benefits end. I hate the 2.5L engine, I wish I had the option for the European 1.6 Diesel, the transmission is very jerky on changing sometimes. It feels like I really have to floor it to get it going and I'm not even loaded up anywhere close to GVW. Braking feels funny, I really have to press it sometimes to make it work. The radio in the console sucks, the spacing was barely enough to be able to put an aftermaket radio in there for the features I wanted. Had to install my own rear-view camera so I could see out the back. The arrangement of the battery in the bay is crazy, you can barely see the positive terminal and good luck getting a booster clamp on there. The grounding post is far recessed into the engine bay and frankly so small you would hardly know you were on it or getting good connection. The fuse panel for the engine bay is directly in front of that Grounding Post, tons of water is allowed to fall on top of the battery and fuse panel whenever it rains. I absolutely despise their mirrors, worst idea ever. The visibility is poor at best, the convex mirror hardly works to give any proper visibility. There are different aftermarket mirrors you can pick up if you want to but it's hard to know if they would work better. Oh, and none of my mirrors have heating elements in them, if they fog up, good luck, reach out and wipe it yourself. I'm sure there's other issues I'm missing not to mention that any kind of mechanical work needing done causes a ton of labour to be expunged. There's no way in my knowledge to add access locks on other doors of the vehicle, for example, you have a dead battery and your booster pack is in the cargo area, you got no way to get back and access it. I'm sure there's other issues I have missed but these were the big ones.
Is the engine and transmission reliable on the Ford? That's all I care about.
@ilc-nl3yy The 2.5L Gas Naturally Aspirated is what I have. I bought it used. It's been decent for usage without major failures but at 250,000 KM it definitely needs some service. The fact that the transmission is sealed without draining/filling ports is confusing for sure
@@bioweaponsystem154 I'm looking for a 10 year old small cargo van that's reliable. I drive about 64 miles round trip 5 days a week.

Both of these would be alive and well if USPS had decided to use these instead of the goofy Oshkosh mobile. All the shipping companies use these in some delivery capacity. My job has one come by every day for large envelopes/small parcel service.
Can this be used for a passenger version, assuming that wall panels and roof liner are removed and insulation panels are trimmed?
I haven't heard of anyone doing this, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. You may just need to do some trimming of the insulation in some areas where the windows would be. You could also just order a roll of the Autoply insulation and cut to fit.
Thank you so much for this video!
Glad it was helpful!
We have a van conversation with cabinets where these locks should go. Can they be placed in different locations, higher up away from cabinets? Or are there extensions for the emergency release cables?
I'm assuming you mean there is a cabinet near the rear door that would interfere with the emergency release. Legend doesn't offer any cable extensions, but there is some flexibility on where that release can be installed; not a ton, but +/- a few inches. Technically, these are universal locks, so they could be mounted in another location, you'll just want to make sure it's mounted on a flat surface and there's no interference behind the body that would impede the installation of the plus nuts or release cable. If that doesn't work, you may want to check out the deadbolt we sell: upfitsupply.com/product/thunderbolt-deadbolt-lock-kit-ford-transit/
5:59 .. with my shoes on in a comfortable stance I am exactly 72.5" and in my conversion plans that is the only spot I would want to stand. LOL I am wondering if by chance the 2025 eTransit will gain or lose inches of height right there.
From what we've seen, there is no difference on the interior cargo space between the E-Transit and standard Transit models.
What if you lose your keys how can I get a new one
Yes! Check out the replacement keys site: vehiclesecurityinnovators.com/product-category/simply-keys/weather-guard-replacement-keys/weather-guard-replacement-keys-truck/
How much of an effect does that thin insulation have? Is there an R-value you're aware of? What is that insulation made of?
There are 2 different thicknesses you can get. 1/2-inch has R2 and 1-inch has R4.
I appreciate your how-to video on that installation. I am buying my first van in three days, a 2022, Chevy Express Cargo 155" extended WB and am very excited to start my conversion! How much of an R-value do those Duratherm wall liners provide? Also, is the black material installed on the walls behind the Duratherm insulation or noise control, and if so, what material is it and is it a product you sell? EDIT: I just discovered your other videos with the answers! Thank you!
Thanks! Glad the videos have been helpful!
Can you use the factory bolts or do you have to use the provided ones?
On the side door you reuse factory bolts. On the rear doors, you'll need to use the provided bolts because the factory bolts are countersunk and wont work with the driver side bracket. On the passenger side bracket, I believe the factory bolts aren't long enough to work with the bracket.
your online diagram shows 126” length with 9” partition taking away from that space. your video shows 137” length total. It would seem that the online diagrams are wrong and should show 9” partion extending beyond the 126”? Can you clarify this please?
126" is wall space (L/R side of van) and does not include the B-pillar or rear door frame. The 137" measurement is center of the van from the edge of the cab floor to the rear edge of the floor (includes some of the B-pillar and all of the rear door frame).
Do you have one for a Chevrolet Express 3500?
Yes, we do! upfitsupply.com/product/slick-locks-turn-key-door-lock-kit-for-chevy-gmc-express-savanna-vans-1997-2021/
If i still had my FTC, I would definitely get a couple of these!
This is a great video. How are the overhead lights connected? How would you turn them on and off?
Thanks! They are connected directly to the battery and have motion sensors in them to automatically turn on/off. Here's a video of us installing them: th-cam.com/video/afhfSI0qlhA/w-d-xo.html
@@upfitsupply Thank you! I love how it all turned out.
I was logged in to my other YT channel! I am @cre8tivediva too! LOL!
Great tutorial, I just installed mine. Thanks
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! I'm glad the video was helpful.
Thank you, that was a very informative video! Can’t wait to put mine on. I have a 118” Low Roof and got the 136” wheelbase Std roof kit. I’ll have to trim a bit by the rear doors!
Can't wait to see it!
Wondering if you have the measurements from the doors to the access panel in the centre to the fuel tank! thanks.
Unfortunately we no longer have this van. Sorry!
What's the website so I can buy shelves and more for my Ford transit tall roof 148?
Right here: upfitsupply.com/ford/transit/
How about like use after a couple years how has these two differ in maintenance and use
This dude is LITERALLY the MAN!
I have a 2019 Transit Connect. I don't think Ford makes this sweet little van anymore. The dealer has been trying to buy it back from me. Wont be able to pry it from my cold dead hands.
Haha yes! Hang on to it as long as you can!
Is it removeable?
What R Value?
You can get in 1-inch or 1/2-inch thickness. 1-inch is R4 and 1/2-inch is R2.
Where can I purchase J hooks with white mount? I bought from CARiD and they sent me J hooks but without white bracket to attach the black J hooks.
We can get those for you! Reach out to us here: upfitsupply.com/contact/
You have like a zero accent as a North American...But the dead give away is one word that your in the USA (Mid country?) Roof ...Or....Ruff ? ...lol Thanks for the video

Awesome! U left no stone unturned!
Thank you!
How well does this product handle condensation?
You can get it wet and it won't degrade. It is mold and mildew resistant.
I have had a 2011 Transit Connect and now have a 2019 doing HVAC/R. Both required transmission replacement with the latest costing $6900.!
Yikes!
What are those 'slide in bolts'? You just called them 'nut plates' as well. Did they come with your installation kit? What purpose do they serve?
Sorry, misspoke when calling it "slide in bolts" - it's actually a "slide in nut". It allows you to attach the step brackets to the frame/rocker panel of the van without having to drill holes (uses existing holes already in the frame). Since you can't reach your hand or a wrench inside the frame to secure with a traditional nut, the slide in nut gets the job done.
How about an attachment for a canoe or kayak?
Unfortunately this model is just for ladders. Check out the company Dropracks - they have a dropdown rack for kayaks.
