Seaside Stitches
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 20 ต.ค. 2020
I am a Lancashire Lass living near the sea in England, UK and have rediscovered my love of sewing recently. My posts on this channel are mostly sewing related, and occasionally include memories of my mum who actively encouraged me to sew from an early age. I have a love of bright and vibrant fabrics, and try to support independent companies and other enthusiastic sewists as much as I can. I plan to share my sewing endeavours and experiences of using a variety of garment and crafting patterns and styles. People’s Wellbeing and Mental Health is of great concern to me, and encouraging others to explore enjoyable hobbies is one of my main motivators. I have been a professional trainer and love enthusing and entertaining an audience, and inspiring people to recognise and fulfil their own potential.

I love the beach huts behind you. Is it a panel?
Hi Susan. You really don’t need to apologise for your Lancashire accent. You should be proud, at least people understand and know what we say x
Also I love your dress
What A Great video thanks so much
I have just found your channel and enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing these great ideas. Enjoy the sun! ❤👍from Somerset
I just found you and I'm so glad I did! I first saw your Gifts to November video and I fell in love with your style and personality. I am like you in that I want colors that POP, and I also don't want beige or cream backgrounds! I also don't like the trend in big baggy clothes, I have a nice figure for an old lady and I want to show it off! And swish, I have to have swish!
Finally, some ideas that I actually want to do. Others had great ideas but they aren't something I want to do! I wanted to make coasters for my group of friends because another lady is knitting mug cozies for us all. I thought about doing patchwork but the decorative stitches are the perfect way to do it! Thank you!
Just watching while we sing. That’s for gorgeous gift ideas I’m off to check out the free patterns on Made By Annie. Thank you so much for supporting the challenge 🎁
Enjoy the sun, Susan. You’re so creative! Thanks for sharing your great ideas xx
Lovely ideas and inspiration for making use of all those decorative stitches on our sewing machines. Thank you x
Great ideas....I hope you catch the sunshine 😊
Thanks for some very imaginative ideas Susan. I love the waste thread picture! 😊
Lovely video. All fun. Thank you🎉
Thank you Susan for some really imaginative and fun makes. I hope you managed to grab that bit of sunshine. X
Hi from Longridge in Lancashire too. I love your channel and your sewing and fabric choices ❤
Your blouse looks very nice!❤
Lovely fabrics, never sewn a Tessuti pattern. What a great idea the muganiser love it.
I love your channel and the way you make your videos. ❤ The re Wilding project sounds amazing. I live on a 10 acre farm and we grow indigo and other natural dye flowers, and have a wee garden, in North Florida. I watch folks that TH-cam is their business, and I have a small channel, but really like to just watch the content I want to watch. I could never make a living at it because I’m not that consistent with anything but watching other peoples videos! 😂. good luck with the new adventure.
The US. New York State. Enjoy hearing from you! ❤
@@susanhardman5627 Thank you Susan, lovely to know where you’re watching from, Happy sewing, Susan x
Great video! But now I've got to show my ignorance! What's a WIP? I should look it up but I'm too lazy today and hoping someone will tell me.
@@EuphemiaGrubb A WIP is a ‘Work in Progress’, sometimes also called a UFO an ‘Unfinished Project’. It wasn’t a term I had been familiar with either until I started to watch sewing vlogs! Thanks for watching, and am happy you asked, Susan x
@@seasidestitches615 Thanks. Now I know what to call that big pile lying in the corner! lol!
Hello Susan - I love watching your channel and look forward to see how it develops with your move to your new surroundings. Good luck with all that you do. I’m 67 and I live with my husband in Cambridge. Catherine x
@@catherineessery9395 Hello Catherine, thank you for being a regular viewer, and for your lovely supportive comment. It’s good to have you with me, and nice to know a little bit about you. Cambridge is such a lovely place. It’s definitely on our list for another visit. Susan x
I love your videos and look forward to hearing about your move and the exciting time ahead. Thank you very much and greetings from Germany
@@naneb4428 Thank you for watching and leaving me such a lovely comment. Greetings to Germany from Lancashire, England, Susan x
Susan, I Love your interesting chatty vlogs and your colorful frocks and your gorgeous ‘ginger nut’ hair! While I don’t have ginger hair, some of my family do. I’ll be 70 next year, born & reared in Ireland, 35 years living in the US. I have 6 grandchildren and two of my grandsons have the most gorgeous gingernut hair❤️ You made me smile when you spoke about the jokes made about ginger hair being rusty!!… that’s what someone nicknamed my now 14 year old grandson!! Looking forward to hearing more about you and your hubby’s move to beside Your children and grandchildren. 😊 The end of your video is beautiful… reminds me of home in Ireland ☘️
@@marywhite1749 Thank you Mary. It’s lovely to find out where people were born and raised and where they’ve spent part of their lives. I’ve never left the island, not even to go the Isle of Man 🤣🤭😊! Your comment is warm and supportive and I really appreciate you sharing with me. ‘Rusty’ it will be from now on then for your 14 yr old grandson! It’s lovely to have you with me on my sewing journey. Hope you have a lovely week, Susan x
Hi Susan, what fun on the Trampoline! I did let my hair grow out to it's natural Salt & Pepper during the COVID time. That's also when I found TH-cam and the Wonderful Sewing Community. Thanks for Sharing! Liz from South Florida 😎🌴☀️
Hi Susan. Congratulations on your 4th year on TH-cam 🎉. I think your move will be exciting, and would love to see anything you want to share with us.☺️ Love the idea of 70's Sewing, I loved the 70's. My Husband and I are at 51 years, and still very much in Love. I think having different interest is a key, and being able to appreciate each other's Hobby's. My Mother and Step Father had 5 Acres in Central Florida, they designed and had their house built, it was very natural and wild land. I do appreciate your Vlogs, because I can relate to the things you make , and enjoy the adventures you share. Not sure of the TH-camr, you mentioned cloud you list her in you coments below? TH-cam changes what is in our list all the time. So I have to go back and find my favorites, to put them in the queue again. Hope everything goes smoothly for your move! Liz from South Florida 😎🌴☀️
@@elywolf9825 Hi Liz, thanks for your lovely comment. It’s good to get to know more about you two too, and to hear of our similarities! Ooh, your Mother and Stepfather’s place sounds amazing. The person I mentioned is Karen @madebyKarenMarie. I’ll add a link in my Description Box. She lives in Norway and does some very interesting videos, especially the ones about making a National Costume for her teenage daughter! Hope you’ve not been badly affected by the weather over there, and that you’re getting in some sewing, Susan x
Watching from Germany. Your video was quite amusing but left me confused in places because you changed your topics so often. Won‘t you miss the sea!
@@henriettejosephine Thank you for sticking with me, I do bounce around a lot when I’m doing a chatty video - it’s just my ‘grasshopper mind’ it leaps about all over the place! It’s nice of you to let me know where you are. I’ll just have to make do with walking around lakes and streams! Hope you pop by again, Susan x
Hi Susan, your move sounds very exciting, and it looks lovely. I'm sure that what you'll miss from the seaside you'll find something equally beautiful in the countryside. It looks lovely, and all the ecology of the area sounds fascinating. I'm wondering if you'll be going to any more Lytham sewcials before you upsticks? It would be great to see you there again 😊
@@chrissycrompton7585 Thank you Chrissy for your reassuring comment. It is a lovely area. I’d love to go to the Lytham socials but they always seem to be booked up with other activities. Are they still doing the usual sewing socials as before, it would be great to see you there again too! I’d probably be ok for the second part of November onwards. Happy sewing, Susan x
@seasidestitches615 hi Susan, yes, they're still doing the sewing, but the booking system has changed slightly. The classes start and finish at different times. There's 12-2 and 2-4. Also, there are other crafts available. So you click the drop-down menu. There are 3 choices, so just select "sewing" . I hope this helps? X

Thanks Chrissy, yes it’s good to know we’re in very good company 😂 when it comes to WIPs! Wishing you well in tackling yours, happy sewing, Susan x
I had to smile when you appeared on my screen surrounded by all of your wonderful colourful makes. I love colourful fabrics and so does my Mum, I heard someone on a tv programme say something that instantly came to mind seeing you there. ‘She’s pretty hard to miss isn’t she! She dresses like a Bird of Paradise …’ I hope that this makes you smile as much as it did me. Keep bringing a bit of colour to the day, life is too short for being dull… xx
Thank you for watching again Claire. Yes, I’m always cheered up by colourful fabrics, and I’m glad they bring you joy too. They make me smile just looking at them, and my heart sing to wear them, and yes the Bird of Paradise comment has made me smile. Warm and colourful wishes, Susan x

Susan, Susan here. ❤ I am catching up on your vlogs and can so relate to you feeling a connection to others who sew. During COVID I sewed every day and watched vlogs. Without the sewing and hearing from other sewists I think my mental health would have suffered. Now I still love the vlogs but especially women “of a certain age”. Thank you. I love the blue jacket! I think if you figure out how to make it work for you it will look stunning. After the move of course! Moving is such a pain!! I love that you wear color. I also am drawn to color and love to see your beautiful makes! Take care Susan! ❤
Thank you Susan, sorry for the delay in responding, I do appreciate your encouragement and it’s lovely to know that you are with me sometimes as I just stand there talking at my phone sharing sewing achievements, dilemmas or decisions.
