Sorry but "tradition" doesn't excuse barbarity and torture. Lots of things were done in honour of traditions in our past as a human race, but that doesn't make them morally right or excusable. This is one of them.

People can cry in the comments, but the fact is these traditions are much valuable than the life an animal that was raised for meat. Traditions and culture are what makes the human race unique, so keeping these continuing is very crucial. I think this festival is specific to this village or community. Anyways traditions must be preserved. Losing these over an animal's life isn't worth.

Animal sacrifice in the name of propitiating Gods, Goddesses and deities must be banned world-wide. No religion encourages violence or such mindless killing.
