FRED ASTAIRE & GINGER ROGERS ON RAVEL'S "LA VALSE"
มุมมอง 7K9 ปีที่แล้ว
This MASHUP of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers clips on Ravel's famous WALTZ was made even before the term existed, more than 20 years ago, on a VHS analog edit system, from old worn out cassettes. Of course I didn't alter any of the music's or the clips tempos (the slow motion at the start belongs to the original film). Ravel's piece is conducted by Serge Baudo with the Orchestre National de Ly...

ABSOLUTE MASTER !!!!!!!
These scenes are dreams from long ago that stay forever.
Cyd Charisse…SPECTACULAR!!😮
AUDREY A MUSA SAGRADA DIVINA , OCULTISTA ETERNA E IMORTAL
Rita Hayworth was the best.
is right, She is the Best
I like what Ginger Rogers said, "I do everything Fred Estaire does, but backwards and in heels." Or something like that. Flex.
A real STAR
Great choreography, average dancing, hot legs!
probably not "the best" female dancer (too many variables; Ann Miller was a better tap dancer for example), but certainly THE sexiest. no one could do LEGS like Cyd. btw, thank you for listing the directors and choreographers!
She was lovely.
No, Vera Ellen was the best, hands down.
@@Pjkoko Well, I have nothing against Vera, as this playlist testifies: th-cam.com/play/PLGahwiLr35_z4LYlAGCcCxp7077qlvtsa.html&si=Hkba0mALs7wlLa-X
0:26 the scene with veil Is amazing: when she's in background and veil flight in vertical, or when they turn together, and the male dancer move away the veil by his arm
When I finish my time machine the first place I'm going is Hollywood in 1916
She was gorgeous. So elegant.
Loved her with Gene Kelly in Brigadoon.
Heaven on earth,with legs.
She’s wonderful, but I would put Gwen Verdon and Vera Ellen right up there with her.
YOU SHOULD BE ARRESTED ONY FOR THE VIDEO'S TITLE! PLEASE, DOCUMENT YOURSELF ON MATTERS YOU HAVE NO IDEA OF!!! Does history of dance in cinema mean anything to you? OFC NOT!! Otherwise you wouldn't insult cinema and ballet history with this! PLEASE, go hide.
She was beauty, grace and elegance all wrapped up. Simply amazing.
The MAGIC they created will NEVER be duplicated 👌
Those legs lived in my head since I saw her in a movie when I was 8. hurt me that she didn't get more roles because of her height, male ego.
Dancers have the best bodies! I will take ballet in my next life. He was yummy.
She was my favourite dancer along with Vera Ellenj
always thought she was the best
God, there has to be someone somewhere who's gotten married in a version of the dress at 2:01. It would make an absolutely stunning wedding dress design by today's standards. The lace, the plunging back, the split skirts... To die for.
HOLLYWOOD BABY OIL ERASING MEMORY BOOK
La recuerdo en Viva Las Vegas. Un film magnífico.
I saw Syd Charice on stage in Las Vegas when I was may be nine years old and I wanted to be a dancer just like her😅
I'm not certain this qualifies as evolution. This is 3 different dancers using the same classic choreography. Really all we are seeing is evolutionally is technology's ability to capture dance. This is more a comparison of applied technique. Evolution would be showing the same music with different coreograpgers, and their have been several very diverse and equally beautiful interpretations of movement to this amazing Tchaivosky score that deserve consideration and truly show innovation in pulling out more from the rhythmic and melodic attributes. These are three skilled dancers. But words are important. There is zero evolution in this trinity beyond technology
That red dress with Astaire! So lyrical, technical, and controlled. She was a Goddess.
It has a male name, very tall, huge feet. Hmmmm....
I agree...greatest!
@@drayheath So glad to get support! I’m getting a lot of bashing from Ginger, Eleanor, Vera or Rita lovers (though I also admire them all)…
I'm gonna bet there's dozens of people who would argue that. She's amazing, don't get me wrong, but based only off the fact that there's so many types of dancing, you can't really compare fairly. It's just goofy.
Cyd Charise... WAS A DREAM! ❤
@@virgilrobertsjr7870 🙏
Wonderful and powerful how she expresses her femininity through dance, love it!
The only person who could do this type of dancing is Taylor Swift. Minus the smoking 🚭
Le super fake
Today all they do is shake their ass and their boobs and call it dancing. So classless.
I am 66 years old. I was 6 feet tall by the time I was 15 years old . My mother told me about Cyd Charisse being 6 feet tall and that she was considered the Best! I have watched her dance in movies, she was outstanding, I have never felt ashamed for being tall.
@@lisarand9701 In fact, despite her long legs, Cyd Charisse was just 5.51 ft, 1,68cm! That’s why Fred Astaire (5.74 ft), ever anxious over his partners’ size, okayed her, even on high heels…
Legs Comin out her neck
beautiful, wonderful, all is full.....
NO...best dancer will always be Ginger Rogers....her poise, acting, posture and complete control of her dancing body and feet. It was glamor in the dance arts!!!
Did she have a preference for a partner? A favorite?
@@davidhull1481 Astaire. Who else?!
@ If I knew I wouldn’t have asked.
She and Fred Astair! What a pair!!
.......oh those long legs!
When I first saw Cyd dance the opening piece, I was so jealous of her - I wanted to be everything she was but in my body and dancing with Gene, I was 5 - I knew everything I needed to know.
I agree with you fella. Quite a looker too! Golden age of Hollywood. They sold a lot of dreams.
