Malicious Mantel at RadioFest Part Two
มุมมอง 80ปีที่แล้ว
So, you've finally ended up with *that* radio on the bench. Maybe you were trying to be helpful, maybe you were feeling brave. Whatever it was, the sinking feeling in your heart just gets worse and worse. How do you fix a radio that everyone and his dog has had a go at, *and* left as pretty much a basket case? Nothing to lose? Try logic! Ian Batty will take you through the Seven Phases of logic...

History of early TV part two
มุมมอง 67ปีที่แล้ว
You may have heard of the Nipkow Disk, used by John Logie Baird in his famous early television broadcasts. What about Vladimir Zworykin? Did he really invent the first TV camera tube or was his patent a flop? Was he really beaten to market by a farm boy who "liked to read everything"? Or what about the brave souls who used spinning mirrors to get a picture? No good. OK, let's just shine a *very...

You may not have heard of Mingay, MacLurcan or McKenzie, or know which one was instrumental in training Australian and American Morse code operators during WWII. By the end of Richard's engaging and informative chat, you'll be amazed to learn just how r...

Very impressive presentation
Cheers from Southern Ukraine 🖐️😉🤝👍❤
With the reverb I could not understand a word but fortunately TH-cam can make it out and display as text.
Thanks to HRSA for posting this video of Charlie. It was great to hear a person so close to the day to day of BWD to talk about one of Australia's tech success stories. I have a 525 here that in spite of its age is a great performer. It has however developed a fault in its 6S timebase plugin. I have been able to source a manual for the mainframe but I cannot locate schematics for the 525 plugins. I was hoping that I could get in touch with Charlie to see if he has copies in his collection?
those beautiful radios bought me here question how many were made in Australia ? we don't here of manufacturing from the old days in the UK it would be interesting to know
Those valuable radoos . I am very interested to visit this exhibition.I am also having one old WRP radio at home of year 1954 of coure it is now not working .
Any idea when the Radiofest 2024 is on ?
A Top Talk by Rod I can see he was excellent Tech Teacher Full Marks Ian,

I recently noticed that when testing a twin triode such as E88CC on my MK-4, the meter goes FSD when I switch to the anode 2 position. Several known good valves were tested and same result on all, any advice please?
A very well thought out fault analysis sequence.
Nice presentation Ian!
Charlie! Thanks for a great presentation. I started a Radio Tradesman (Digital Stream) apprenticeship with B.W D. 1975 while they were still in Gardiner. And moved to Miles St Mulgrave. Very grateful for the introduction into the electronics industry from which I made my career. Love to get the transistor equivalent circuit top the 6DJ8 as I think this was the timebase trigger and sawtooth generator for one the 502 CRO. It's actually 6BLB. 6DJ* used in front end. Do also have the BWD 845 storage scope. Minor burn on the storage grid. You don't have a schematic for the BWD Instruments 821 CRO? Think I have one for repair soon.
Nice vid, shame I could not come.
Wonderful presentation--Greetings from Bill the Batterymaker...
Great to see your channel--from Bill the Batterymaker...
Take your hands off my Grundig, is the cry of the day.
VERY IMPRESSIVE gathering of vintage and collectible radios! Would like to have seen a few general views of the hall and comments from the attendees. I've had only three Australian valve radios in my collection. Two sold only two weeks ago... After 55+ years of collecting, I'm having to find new homes for my charges...
Hi, the overview of the hall and interviews were not possible as I had other things to organise. Sorry. I guess having to part with our collection comes to us all sooner or later. Hope you get fair prices for your radios.
Excellent video! Beautiful radios! And the ubiquitous Hammarlund HQ-170. They even show up down under! ;-)
Thankyou for sharing an event that many of us in regional Australia never knew existed. What an amazing selection.
What a wonderful event, I had a ball!
So many cool people and cool things!
Nicely done!
Thanks!
especially like the idea of painting grill cloth, genius
Need to see his slides!
Very interesting talk, would love to see the pictures of the repairs though especially painting veneer
I have produced a board that mounts onto the meter mount which has mounting holes at 34.5MM pitch. The PCB is fitted with back to back Schottky diodes and a 10uF multilayer ceramic capacitor. At 20 centigrade the forward voltage is about 0.25V, the 10uF cap provides adequate damping, I have put a video up "avo valve tester meter protection circuit". It takes ten minutes to install
Did the Bill Armstrong presentation/talk get video recorded a few years back? Would love to watch that again!
Terrific to discover these talks are up online to catch up on from home. Thank you, and wonderfully put together.
Fantastic presentation! Love my BWD gear. Always great to hear Charlie talk. Well done, all.
