TOWPATH TRAVELER
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 มี.ค. 2017
The channel has evolved , the Channel was started as a place to share travelling in a Land Rover( KittyLandRover) content , but the channel has changed to a Narrowboat/industrial history with some travel thrown in. The Land Rover is no more and has been changed to a Suzuki Jimny Gen 4 which will become a micro overlanding vehicle. I moved onto a narrowboat in Feb 2024 a new direction in life travelling the canals eventually but at the moment the Kennet & Avon canal is home.
I love exploring old industry sites and historical places that were once the pumping heart of the British industrial revolution and also military sites that shaped the Britain.
Its a mix of interests but I hope you enjoy my travels whether by car, boat or foot, lets Go Explore

After a evening withdrawal from Bradford on Avon I was away from the party boats, in the rush to escape I didn't film the extraction, so missed Avoncliff Aqueduct. This is a quick cruise from the bottom of Winsley hill to just shy of Dundas Aqueduct. I hope the new branding is ok and yes i will be changing the spelling to English got to wait 14 days. canalrivertrust.org.uk/ www.epidemicsound.co...

Looks like hard graft but fun-Well done 👍👍
Thanks for watching, it was hard work but really enjoyed it. Meet so many lovely people on the towpath
Hello again 👍 That is good quality for TH-cam, although I guarantee if I were to see it on a 4K monitor, it'd be exceptional. I presume you reorientate/zoom in etc the footage in the video editor. Definitely an interesting piece of kit there, though.
@philipareed hi 👋 ,the zoom in, etc, is done on the insta360 editing software.
Great video, thank You!
Thanks for watching 👀
Thank you for posting this, excellent, even the heavy breathing 😂 which would have been much worst if I had tried to attempted this! Keep up the good vlogs, ps love the Gardner!
Thanks for watching. At least the towpaths are flat.

I like the sound of the engine dont like the electric ones that sound is more like a real narrowboat long may she serve you ATB
Thanks for watching. The engine was the reason I purchased the boat.
Sunday night treat for me 👍 Thank you!
Totally enjoyed 👍👍
Finally, you arrive, James 😀😀
A very interesting insight into the lost heritage of the coal canal. Most is sadly disappeared now, but the countryside is outstanding. Hard to believe that this rural part of the country had such a lot of industrial infrastructure, along with the canal and latterly the railway to transport the coal. A most enjoyable watch.
Thanks for watching. It surprised me how vast the Somerset coal fields were, and there is so much coal still under our feet awaiting extraction
Totally enjoyed your journey on the K&A in Bath-Also great meeting you today at the Fuel station 👍👍
@jameswalksinhistory3848 it was nice to meet you also. Thanks for watching
Big Girl pony superstar at 13:56! - well, you can see her back end and rug!
Another Sunday treat, and a mention 👍
Even though I know it couldn't possibly be, I thought briefly that first heron was plastic 😂😂 End screen's gone haywire, but you could correct it. Another great video!
That's the last 2 end screens gone wrong I'll have a look, glad u enjoyed
@@Towpathtraveller1693 Go to the end screen page and drag the subscribe, video and playlist bars to 19:42 and they'll be in sync 👍
Davies is like Alandin's Cave, especially upstairs. Also, a trip to there can mean a trip to a kebab shop and chips from a chippy just next door 👍
Thanks, I couldn't remember the name of the place ,defo an Alandins cave
She looks singularly unimpressed 😂😂
no she wasn't, i don't think lily has seen it yet

Very cute
Have you moved onto the narrow boat ? In that its your home now ?
Moved on to the boat, this is my home
@kittylandrover1693 are you still going to do you tube videos about lost railways and coal mines ?
@arthur1658 yes I will be
Oh we love that sound love it when we go up to Wiltshire kennet and Avon canal 😊
Thanks
Mum's a northern lass.
No, we are both flat landers, east anglia
A Sunday evening treat 😀😀👍
Daniel Oakley was my friend and work colleague Steve Sharp boat that her fitted out, who I knew when at Brum boats and later BCNB when I had the less Allen built nb Galton with a Gardner 3LW marine engenr 2UC gearbox and 3:1 reduction in the nineties.
I was trying to find out who Daniel Oakley was, I'm loving the boat and will look after her
A Sunday treat from Kitty Landrover 😁😁
Even the wakes, from the nearby crematorium, couldn't keep the pub open.
Hmm, I seem to have missed something :) You're living fulltime on a narrowboat now? That's fantastic! Can you work remotely then? All the best!
Yeah living full time on the narrowboat at the moment I have to stay on the Kennet & Avon Canal for work reason I work In a railway signalbox. Its not going to all canals, I have so many interests the boat is to free up my time and plans I have for the future.
Random response: When you view bluebells on a monitor, the lack of blue colour reproduction really shows. Cameras/phones just can't quite get it right. That old cliché, "The camera never lies" is utterly incorrect.
Lovely boat look after it and have some fun !
Living the dream mate. Wish I had taken the plunge (no pun intended) and done it years ago.
QUACK!
Great looking traditional boat with a lovely Gardener Engine!, Enjoy the ownership.
I'm attracted by the romantic notion, but not the reality 😂😂 Another great video.
Thanks for watching. hot water on tap and a flushing toilet that you don't have to empty.....I dream of them, but im still loving it .
Enjoy, could listen to the engine all day.
Great blog Ian (Spot) enjoy boat life, live life to the fullest, have no regrets, Mogi x
Great Boat. Any chance a Charles (Charlie) Oakley is part of your ancestry?
Thanks for watching, I'd love to find out why the boat is named Daniel Oakley
Wow, engine sounds sweet, look forward to many more vlogs.
Engine sounds lush. Well done on making the switch to life afloat!
Really interesting 😀😀Are you going to grow vegetables etc in boxes on the top?
Excellent...!
Excellent films! I’ve lived in the area for over 50 years and whilst I knew of the canal I quickly realised that I actually didn’t know a great deal. It was fascinating to learn of its history and features, some of which I pass regularly, and didn’t even know were there. So very interesting. You have inspired me to walk from Paulton to Bath following in your footsteps. Thank you.
Thanks for watching. I was surprised how much is left. It's a great walk and well sign posted
Near where you passed the lorry on the school rd over to the left is an old canal milestone in the undergrowth so the canal must have gone through that side of the road
Thanks for watching, thanks for that information
Thank you very much for your videos. I stumbled across your channel by forecast of the YT algorithm watching the channel of Paul Whitewick. He also did some walking of the SCC. But I have to admit your presentation was more comfortable to me. I liked your editing very much. So thank you again for your work. (I'll be watching your Somerset Collieries soon ) and stay healthy in that wheather. Greetings from Southern Germany. Bye, Gerd
Thank you for spending the time to watch the videos and writing a comment it means so much. I hope you enjoy the somerset coal colliery videos. Stay safe
The f-word made my night. Also, another very interesting video. I've flown a drone over Wellow and even in the unedited footage, I can only see the former railway line...unless...
Thanks for watching, I found part of the canal in Wellow last year midford side of Wellow tunnel
Great walks live in Radstock and only walked some of the route nice to see the rest👍
Thank you for all 10 walks, I have really enjoyed them, I was born in Monkton Combe and spent 27 years there.
Thanks, I enjoyed walking it, it would be an amazing canal if open
Excellent ..👍
Thank you
Great video-Brought back good memories of my walks in this area-Thank you
Hello mate, like the camera and sound👍🏻Great video as always, feel a bit jealous of your canal boat life. Look forward to next upload. All the best from Somerset 👏🏻💯
Thanks for watching, and thanks for the feedback.
Apparently that plaque is on the wrong house, it should have been on the one that you said could have been the quarry managers house but also hard to believe the society could get it so wrong, you can find the route of the canal further down the valley below the road and there is also a filled in canal bridge in the garden of tucking mill cottages, you can see it in the pics on their website
Thanks for that, yeah how could they get it so wrong . Thanks for watching
Look forward to watching this video a bit later Ian.
