It's way tougher than I expected. You need to make use of brake balance (and possibly TC if you like it - i don't generally) through the lap to get the most out of it. It's a great challenge.

That VR Guy Okay, I suppose I'll give it a try :) I Usually avoid TC if possible, but some Cars are just undrivable to me without at least TC1...

@@gtracingyt some are hopeless for some reason. TC kills power on oversteer which for me is a big part of exiting a corner quickly

I should add it was from eBay, and you'll also need a vga board to drive it (also from eBay. Needs to be for the exact screen).

Does the vga conversion screen powers up with the raspberry alone or does it needs an ac adapter by itself?

@@MKNash8 it's the other way around actually. In the video I was using an extra adapter for the lights, but now I have the mains powering the vga board, and the pi running via on of the board's usb ports. However, it's barely getting what it needs (you can see a coloured square in the top corner of the screen saying power is low), so if you plan on overclocking or running a new model pi, you probably want to run another power supply to it.

I got the acrylic from www.razorlab.co.uk/ - They were very good, great quality but it gets pricey. I was originally going to have a wooden back piece and base made up, but it was topping £100 just for those, so i stripped it back to the front areas only. The dimensions I used weren't perfect, and I was making the top area up as I went along, so you're best off making some paper/card mockups of what you think you want and then refine the dimensions from there

Good idea on the overlays, I didn't know you could do that. I already put crt shaders on things like ms pacman after I made this video and it looks excellent.

Considering how basic the game is, the fact that it isn't effortlessly running at 60fps on a standard ps4 is embarrassing. Look at what horizon throws around with no problems and then look at the state of this.

Yup, and the most mind boggling thing to me about all this, is that the game was released on the ps3 and xbox360, and it can't be running much worse on those consoles since then it'd be literally unplayable, maybe reduced to 720p, but still, which means that the game puts out roughly the same performance on an 11 year old console vs one that was released last year (the ps4 pro). This is not only embarrassing, but just lazy beyond belief, it means they put a big fat 0 effort into optimization, and just slapped it onto whatever they thought would sell. I'm just surprised there wasn't a bigger controversy about this.

The stupid thing is, you shouldn't have to run what is in effect an overclocked console to get a semi acceptable frame rate on a point and click game

I don't think I changed anything beyond lowering the suspension to it's lowest and putting as much downforce on as you can.

I'm focussed on the distance so I don't really notice, but when I take my hand of the wheel in real life it's always surprising when the virtual one doesn't move.
