13:40, no windshield wipers?
Excellent movie... If it was underrated, then they're wrong! Super special effects, set, realism--- the whole nine yards!
All the engineers look like they are 80 yrs old. That's called seniority. Never give up. 🎉
God I miss the sounds of actual metal bells
Those ski trains ran on the opposite side of the lake from the family cottage, up near Montfort QC- great show (when you're 7)
Feels like a TV series 'pilot'.
Good times 👍🏻😎
Nine year old me was devastated when this seies was cancelled!
The building of the Sky Dome
29:50 Another great example of great 70s acting.
54:59 "It's safe!"
The first two minutes of this show are pure, complete gold. "Gentlemen, some months ago I was contacted by aliens from Uranus ....." And just the look of the board when he says "cross the country in 36 hours!".....
I really n don't remember this show or even the movie...
All the things you couldn't get away with today.
40:27 politically correct
40:08 the music
The scale of the train is bizarre. A whole new larger track would have had to been laid
03:35 an elevator on a train? Or was this in a building?
❤ beautiful
Is this the Love Boat on Rails?
Great video.
Trains are a wonderful magnificent mahine, love the via trains.
9:45 imagine spending an entire trip with her
It had a pool. On a train. No fucking way.
In the end, removing the electric catenary wires and electric locomotives was a Stupid move for class 1 railroads. Why? Because now near the middle of this century, they will have to become Zero Emission, and the only source of power with Zero Emission is Electricity.
Joe Biden was the only guy who watched this show...
The TH-cam videos of CPR #1201 has inspired me to, and I was thinking about making a TH-cam video titled The best of CPR #1201, or as it’s more commonly known, memories of CPR #1201
This is pretty bad. I had to stop it half way through. The snarling tough guy was probably the worst. If the rest of the series is like this I'm not surprised the series failed.
14:09 looks like a Commodore PET 2001, judging by the integrated cassette recorder...
🤣 The red lights and police sirens.. There is only so much cheese a body can handle.
$450 to travel at an average speed of 80mph for 36 hours when you could spend a fraction of that and be at your destination in four hours by plane. The engineering crew on the train outnumbers the passengers. Then on top of that they have a gaggle of stewardesses, and porters. Half of the train would be crews quarters. Such a goofy premise for a show.
In the 70’s, everyone, employees and customers, drank in excess. Even when your friend is being drowned, you drank.
Since I'm from Germany, I've never heard of this series or the train before. I found out about it today and am happy to be able to watch the first episode in full here. Thanks for uploading. I really like this 70s vibe. It's a shame that they made a few mistakes, like the train suddenly running on standard gauge track instead of broad gauge. It was probably too complicated in some places. I also wonder how the train goes back, since the front locomotive is probably only on one side. The train would probably need a reversing loop. I'm excited to see more episodes if I can find them here.
Maybe it was like the Swiss trains, where the wheels can switch from narrow to normal gauge traffic (fun to watch) (Or not)
Like the Love Boat on Rails
We need more videos of 2860and6060
I have heard these electrics had air whistles later upgraded to horns. Is this true
I worked at Brent in the summer of 2014. In some ways, not much has changed; in others, everything has changed.
At 34:58, Chief Lame Buffalo?
What I found a bit interesting is My dad has the Ho Scale Model of 6786
An already goofy show gets an even GOOFIER and poorly done rip-off
The PCCs are timeless…a true classic! 🚃
What song was at 47:45?
I think it's I Feel Love by Donna Summers
Did The Canadian's dining car stay in Sudbury after the split into 2 sections, one Toronto on Montreal, or did the Montreal section keep the diner but no Park car?
Then there was The Big Bus The 70's were so great!
Big Bus was before; 1976
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TOO MANY MIXED FEELINGS, ALOT OF BAD MEMORIES, BAD BLOOD, AND EMOTIONAL TRAUMA ARE AMONG THE THINGS THAT COME TO MIND, NOT TO MENTION THE TRASHY MORAL AND CULTURAL ASPECTS OF THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WELL, WHAT CAN I SAY: LONG LIVE SUPERTRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
29:42 What the hell did he think they were doing?!
Did these have horns
Of course
i wish 1201 be steamed again once again.
Gotta give major props to Al Broadfoot for going above and beyond by manually operating the 3716’s lubricator linkage to Williams Lake. That had to take nerves of steel.
Awesome video! I was fortunate to ride behind 1201 on an Ottawa - Hawkesbury excursion in October 1990. I believe that was 1201's the last public excursion.
