Glad you enjoyed it.
Bruce Stait was a great comrade
hi, this is a lovely snapshot of Butlins. I'd like to share this on the Barry website. Would you give permission for that? Thanks
Hi, thanks for your feedback, glad you enjoyed it. Yes of course you can share it, thanks for asking. If you could credit my late father, Bruce Stait, that would be appreciated.
@@brucestaitarchive9927 Thank you so much!
@@brucestaitarchive9927 hi, I've tried to link to the film from the Barry website but it says Playback on other websites has been disabled by the video owner
Hi, I will have a look at my settings and come back to you.
I've now changed the settings, you should be able to link it. There is also this Barry train graveyard film, that may be of interest. th-cam.com/video/Q0yeF1j5mYo/w-d-xo.html
I used to live in Bristol in the 1970s and very often came to WSM. This is the town where John Cleese was born with views across the Severn estuary to Cardiff.
My grand mother used to bring us for vacations. She knew the moxey family very well. All those days lost to the madness that we have allowed to occur these last 50 years or more to our beautiful towns.. such a shame.😢
I could be wrong, but the chap with moustache at 58 seconds in might be Pete Hayes!
Happy days before all the down and outs arrived with their alcohol problems and drug problems clogging the streets up with their tents and sleeping bags if we could only go back . where people had respect for others, and for themselves.
My grandparents lived in Weston and every year me and my sister would go for the 6 weeks holiday time , this was the last year went ,, after being in London all year was great . Ended working at sand bay pontins in 76-77 ,, 👍
I bet that was wonderful, a long summer break at Weston, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this piece of history
Glad you enjoyed it
People look so civilised then , what has gone wrong?
Love this video! Where was the farm? Jenny
The farm was in Church Road, Jenny, before they built Collumn End Rise The house is still there on Church Road .
This is fascinating footage. I was 8 when this was filmed. Great quality for what is presumably a VHS copy. I am guessing that's the pedestrianisation of the Prom at 3:24.
Yes, this was VHS and the works being done are in the Prom. Glad you enjoyed it.
I was employed as a bus conductor in '68 during the uni summer vacation and one of my routes was the open top double decker Uphill to Old Pier route. I might have been on this bus! I vividly remember handing over bus tickets to upper deck passenger that at times just blew away in the breeze, and a driver who insisted on purchasing a cup of tea at a cafe down the steps from the Old Pier terminus in the 15 minute turn around period each time we got there. Five very hot cups of tea on each shift! Happy fun memories!
Thank you for taking time to comment, nice to hear your story, I bet that was a nice summer job.
It absolutely was. Many thanks for sharing the home movie. Brilliant!@@brucestaitarchive9927
Time travel 👍👍👍
Duntisbourne Abbots YH at the beginning.
I recognise Andrew Walkley and maybe Peter Westlake.
Happy the Flying Scotsman he's 100th anniversary 2023
It's soooo good to see Scott with his proper front on and to hear him chugging and chuffing. On a video I watched recently he sounded like a chaff cutter! His big day is approaching! We await its arrival with much anticipation!!!!
Another thing. This isn't 1993! This is the way he looks now. February 2023!!!!
Stunning remembrance of happy days. So great to see the children when they were small and Alan and me too, Thank you for preserving this x
Glad you enjoyed it
Maybe my first acting role. I don't remember getting paid?
I hurt my leg quite badly when the bar fell on me during the high jump. That event took place at the catholic school in Charlton Kings - Whitecross?
