How I began Coding everyday 4 months ago, and stuck with it
In this video, I’ll share my strategies for staying consistent with coding.
When I started learning to code it wasn’t smooth sailing.
There were days I felt like my brain was rejecting JavaScript. But by the end of those four months, I managed to build a solid foundation and the consistency I needed to keep going.
hope you enjoy it :)

@ I am learing to program. I did Civil Engieering but after graduation I could not get a job and I discovered coding is interesting and it is what I love doing, I mean I love the work of pentesters, particularlt penetrating web sites so I decided to learn web development and network fundamentals, linux os fundamentals and computer architecture fundamentals. I look forward into cyber security (pentest) in the future. I don't know if my roadmap is a long journey but it is what I think is right for me.

20-30 minutes a day. You will never learn coding. Yeah, you will learn something, but don't expect to get get hired after creating calculator, snake game or todo app. With 30 mins a day, you will just grasp basic concepts.

Couldn’t agree more. I am just talking about building the habit with taking small steps if you’re feeling overwhelmed at the start.

There’s so much to learn. But whatever your comfortable with at the start, do that. Build from there.

@@blindguyaudiophile there are days when I don't code at all some days when I code an hour or 2. But then there are days where I'm coding 12-14 hours for multiple days. The latter is when I'm working on projects.

I am struggling with balancing a 10-hour shift at work and coding practice. Does it work maybe squeeze in 1 hour every night, and do an 8 hour session on weekends? I feel like trying to learn many things at once but end up with nothing

Randomly got recommended by the algorithm to your channel. I usually don’t comment on vids like these, but I can see the potential and appeal on videos like yours. My only tip would be to switch things up a bit. Maybe add some b-roll in the intro or add footage from a real-life testing scenario, or just you working out some code in VS Code or whatever :) just a bit more interactive? That said, I like the concept of learning with ChatGPT! Keep making these. The fact that I’m seeing this vid, means that more people in my demographic will have your vid recommended. Edit: - your thumbnail design looks great btw. You already nailed that part. I clicked it. 😅 - I came here by watching some vids of ByteGrad. Maybe you can incorporate some of his style or audience?

Thanks for the comment man, appreciate it! I like the idea of adding some b-roll or other footage in the intro, will look into that for sure. My production is a bit scrappy at the moment, just trying to launch a few helpful videos on the channel. Will check out ByteGrad's channel as well 😊, thanks again!

hey, this might be a bit of a read and im sorry but; i caught a couple of your videos in my recommended (starting with the code-along) and decided to subscribe after visiting your channel and seeing we're in a very similar situation! i work in IT in my early 30's and looking for a career change so i've decided to start learning javascript with html/css from freecodecamp like yourself so it's going to be interesting learning and also seeing your progress along the way through your videos :) ive been on and off learning coding for a bit over a year and came to constant dead ends trying out different methods for it to 'stick'. i would reach a point where i felt i was too stupid, that this wasn't for me, im not some programming prodigy so why should i even bother? then giving up for months and coming back needing to start from scratch. recently, i've been looking for ways to get out of this mindset and seeing videos like yours genuinely gives me the confidence in knowing that my goals are entirely within reach if all i'm to do is put in discipline and time. this might be interesting to you, i'm not sure, but ive gone ahead and created a challenge for myself from now until the end of next year which im calling '365 days of coding'.. not very original i know. my rules are: - minimum of 20 minutes per day of coding. - if no access to a PC, use mobile to do *anything* code related. - if i *have* to miss a day i will add my minimum of 20 minutes onto the next day. - only use AI to generate project ideas and to help explain things i struggle with to me like i'm a 5 year old. it's a work in progress.. to help me archive my entire journey, i'm using the Obsidian app (which i HIGHLY recommend looking into, especially when learning anything new or even planning out your pantry app idea!) where i've designed a template to use daily which includes a 'today-i-will' and 'today-i-did' along with a section for rough notes about the day's achievements or failures. there's a lot more to it but i'll leave it here, all in all i just want you to know that these videos are great and a huge help, you're giving people like me a huge boost in confidence, even if it is my millionth attempt at learning how to code! appreciate it. 😁

dude, thank you! comments like this really make me happy, and keep me motivated to hit publish on these videos. if I can, in some small way, help you to keep going, then I think it's all worth it. Honestly, you already seem to have the right mindset, you can definitely do this. Also, being in IT, you're already further along than me! That challenge sounds great, keep me updated on it and regarding your 20 minute plan, this sound definitely achievable, but don't beat yourself up if you miss a day here and there. if you get a few sessions in, in a week, that's a serious win. I would also say, make sure you start committing any code you write to a Github account, just get into the habit of it. Github also helps you track your activity, this keeps me really motivated looking back on all my green squares. I'll look into the Obsidian app too!

It is quite remarkable how if you are struggling on some code, take a step back, come back after a nights sleep or a walk and then look at that same problem code with new eyes, you figure it out. That’s been happening to me over and over. I am definitely starting to trust the process. 38’yrs old with a two and 4mo old! Great vid. You are a natural on YT. Keep it up.
