One thing you need to know when driving in Thailand is that DO NOT try to MAKE a HORN in everywhere here. Only in very serious times it may be used. If you try to use the horn to much like people in other countries do, Let me warn you that your life will change completely here, sensitive Thais with the noice from horn.Thai people are love peace and quiet on the road.

As an expat living here for 20 years, I find it hilarious that some newbie fresh off the plane and wet behind the ears thinks he knows something about living in Thailand. Doesn't speak any Thai, lives in Air BNB's, thinks woman are impressed by motorcycles, oh boy. Lamb to the slaughter. The one positive thing I can say is at least you're smart enough to know that you need to wear a helmet. This country is going to chew you up and spit you out. Just wait till the tourist honeymoon period is over... Good luck kid.

This is not medical advice but possible suggestions to help you until you can see a doctor or go to a medical clinic if something happens in the future. If you are able to buy this there, see if you can find Activated Charcoal supplements and Oregano Oil supplements. Activated charcoal can be consumed and used topically. Research it. It can be consumed to possibly help collect toxins that may have been digested (aka consuming food that could affect you again). Articles online help with suggested amounts to take. If you get bitten with something that could be poisonous, opening the capsule and putting the charcoal on the area of the bite can help draw some of the poison until you can get to a hospital. The oregano oil is a natural antibiotic and anti-inflammatory herb. Research its uses and read up on it. It too could be helpful until you can see a phsysian. As for stomach or digestive issues (until you can see a doctor), try to mix psyllium or flax meal with (yogurt, smoothie, or apple sauce). It is optional to add Activated Charcoal, but this can be taken separately. Ginger is also good for upset stomachs. Again research these things and see if anything could help you in the future. Feeling sick so far from friends and family is rough. Find what works for you, be well and best of luck.

Have you purchased health insurance for traveling overseas? If not it’s very pricey here for private med centers/hospitals. I would recommend you to do self care/treat if symptoms are not too much critical you may go to drug store and ask for Ca-r-bon charcoal that’s very helpful to absorb bacterias and drink ORS powder with lots of water until your p**p becomes stronger and black that’s meant you are recovering. It’s a norm during summer food and drink are easier to get spoiled even myself I’m local Thai person I often experience like this and try to do self care and avoid to eat leftover food for longer than few hours.

I have been told I look exotic (not something I appreciate) and I have been graced with aging slowly and maintaining my appearance. It’s taken me years of healing from trying to fit in to one of the three cultures I grew up with…to running from community as I never could find my place. Self-esteem within the global community of mixed people is something that is important to highlight. Same treatments I received and same diagnosis. It was horrible but quite a common thing for people from Australia. We live in different environment, we don’t have bugs that are present in tropical countries. Make sure that you eat something that are freshly cook. Try to avoid any food that have been precooked and cold. Anyway, next time I would suggest you call the insurance company. Thei will tell you which hospital to go to. You might end up in a better hospital. if you stay the night at a hospital, it’s better to call you insurance. They will contact the hospital and settle the bills. Then you don’t have to wait for reimbursement which make your budget easier. I used to work for a travel insurance company, usually they have a list of hospitals in each coutry. They can also tell you the upper limit of each stay.

Government hospital are over run, you will need to wait for hours (on a chair) and most offer a minimal service (but some are good) i.e. Huahin Hospital with a fair and reasonable price.. Medical is still cheap compared to Au. i.e. Dentist cleaning + 2 Xray = 1500 baht (best dentist in Huahin). You done wise: 1) Not to go to a public hospital 2) Christian hospitals are ok (bit old) and they are better at pain management (if needed). A Buddhist hospital not so much about pain relieve. Food poisoning is quite common here for foreigners. I'm certain the doctor can recognise the symthom just by looking at your face. But because they know you health insure covers it so instead of just give you some medications to get your energy up, they piled on numbers of unneccessary tests i.e. x-ray etc. and double/triple the price of everything. 15k thb is a bit high but I think they ripping off your health insure not you.
