Reporting Scotland - Isobel Harling's Funeral
The Colourful Heritage team attended the funeral service of Centenarian Isobel Harling BEM who passed away on St Andrews Day this year. She looked after the Force K6 graves in Kingussie Cemetery for over 70 years. Also known as ‘Wee Mac’ by intelligence services during WW2, she was fondly remembered by her friends, family and her community as she was laid to rest opposite the graves of the Force K6 soldiers in Kingussie New Cemetery, whom she so fondly called ‘Her Boys’.
She was a Highland gem and an inspirational legend that left a wonderful legacy of selfless care and a wonderful example of humanity. She will be dearly missed and although already featured on the Force K6 Kingussie memorial, she will also be remembered on our upcoming BIA memorial.
Her story features in our school’s resource pack unit 2 and her story of kindness is always highlighted in any talks given to school pupils.
She will always be remembered.

Started in 2010, the Colourful Heritage is the first charitable initiative in #Scotland aiming to preserve and celebrate the contributions of the early #SouthAsian and #Muslim communities and migrants to Scotland.
It has created the largest online repository of oral stories, established a dedicated archive and launched a unique exhibition showcasing the communities journey. Explore these amazing resources and be inspired by the positive contributions this community have made to Scotland having turned up with just a few pennies in their pocket and starting their working life as pedlars.
