Spencer Elden & His Dad Talk Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ Cover
Dive into the untold story behind Nirvana's legendary 'Nevermind' album cover, as art director Robert Fisher and Spencer Elden-the once-infant now grown-share their perspectives. Discover how Kurt Cobain's vision of a water birth led to the unforgettable image of a baby swimming towards a dollar bill on a fishhook. Learn about the creative process, from the initial concept to the underwater photoshoot at the Pasadena Aquatic Center, where photographer Kirk Weddle captured the iconic shot of four-month-old Spencer Elden. Explore the symbolism behind the artwork, reflecting themes of innocence, greed, and societal critique. This video offers a rare glimpse into the collaboration and creativity that produced one of music's most enduring images.
Note: In recent years, Spencer Elden has filed lawsuits concerning the use of his image on the album cover, alleging exploitation. These legal actions have been subject to various rulings and appeals. As of December 2023, a federal appeals court has revived Elden's lawsuit, allowing the case to proceed.

The Vienna Philharmonic orchestra don’t play here dude
Sounds pretty good. Post Malone very talented. He's a good guy
Catering lots of drugs for Chris. One of best voices in rock, and he just threw it all away just to get high. Wow
Chris was pretty accomplished in the kitchen so he probably was looking forward to some decent catering
What a voice, what a legacy. RIP Chris Cornell
loved watching both bands at the same night... plus faith no more ... 3 good rockin bands for a very fair price
What an asshole
My mama passed away may 10th,2017. My dad passed away on may 18th. The same day chris cornell died. Im not exactly sure how i lived through that pain, but i did.
You lived through it because that's what happens. People live People die. So what. Get over it. Oh, you said you did. Lol
culture clash in the rock world. you couldn't find 2 bands with more differing ethos
Yeah, so... your point??? Lol. Stupid comment.
He was so beautiful.❤
Punk will make a comeback ... it usually does when Republicans are in power ...
I miss real artists in mainstream music. .....real artists in general!
To be fair, those are stupid questions. The interviewer doesn't seem to have any interest and Kurt is responding with the same lack of concern to answering the questions.
it’s a tribute, why’s everyone being so hard on him for lmao. no one can replicate layne
Eddie vedder!!! Pearl jam, Michael...😊.
Now there's a couple of young, hip & happening presenters...
I miss him so much his voice is unrivaled...his absence is felt greatly ..🥺
His absence?? He's right there at that interview. He's on TH-cam. Even when he was alive he was only where he wanted to be and it wasn't with you unless you were in his life. I don't get your comment. Stupid
What people don't understand is that with proper nutrition, we as humans can battle anything physically or mentally that comes our way. I know this because a was suicidal for a while. I didn't know why because I was always a go-getter and happy. As we age and eat like shit it screws up our minds. Especially when things happen that we can't control like death. When you eat a species appropriate diet, our cells and hormones, brain can handle those diversitys. When you drink, smoke, and eat sugar, including fruits and vegetables you damage the brain. Diabetes..... Most people don't eat enough fat to feed our brains. That's what causes brain damage. Our brain is 70 percent fat. Alzheimers, depression, anxiety, dementia. Eat lot's of butter people, and fatty red meat it's then and only then you'll be able to cope. Fact. I'm proof.
I think Mike was always kind of jealous of Layne
Its only loud if you turn the volume up lol unless hes just talking about the live show in which case no shit, any concert for any genre is gonna be loud.
Esta envidioso porque no tiene la intensidad que Cornell si tiene.
All of this dude's interviews from this day are fn ridiculous. All these years later, TH-cam is making him famous for being a toolbox.
how fast can i make subtitles? Yes!
Poor baby go home then!🙄 I love it!💯💯💕💕🤘🏽🤘🏽🎸🥁
Miss you 😢 RIP Love you!!💔
BEAUTIFULLY SAID!!💯♥️♥️♥️
Seems like a potential language barrier or slight social ineptitude?
That's powerful

Not even close
❤❤❤
Babes in toyland were a great band.👍🏻 Back then i was 16, i had a crush on lori and her bassist Michelle, and Kim from the breeders 🎸👍🏻😀 great bands that i still listen to at 47. I miss the 90s
Why is there no audio?
Yeah
No better feeling in this world than a curse lifted
He had such a kind personality. Very boyish and sweet .
I remember the "year of women in politics," 1992. We had so much hope, then. But I'm not giving it up, ever.
30 years later...women in music are STILL trying to get to a place where men will talk about them the same way they talk about male artists. Not as a side note, an afterthought, or "bro, she's hot, though."
Amazing song, amazing Pearl Jam... helped me through tough times in the 90's...
Loud all over? He means hands all over!
What a dumb set of questions!
I’m 47 years old and grew up on Soundgarden,Temple of the Dog and later Audioslave. When Superunknown came out right before summer in 1994 I was a junior in high school and that summer of 1994 was a awesome summer. I was at my parents beach house in Mission Bay San Diego and my friends would come out for a month and when they were going back home to Phoenix another friend was coming over from Phoenix. We partied our asses off that summer and Black Hole Sun,Spoonman ,My Wave and Fell on Black days was the soundtrack of that summer of 1994. I met Chris once later in life when I was working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles in the early 2000’s and he was such a cool dude. When I heard that he passed away I shed a tear for sure. Same thing when Kobe and Gianna died. RIP Chris. You are deeply missed and your music will live on until the end of time.
Shitty !!!!
Archive it guys, before Paramount come and have it removed....smh.
Layne seemed like such a nice guy. I am a die-hard Cobain fan but Layne’s voice? The best. Still Miss you Kurt. ❤
Okay, cancel me for this. Why is “I don’t like, so how could anyone else?” seem like exactly the thing a German would say?
quiero una maquna del tiempo por favor :'(
My 2 year old son's favorite song is Spoonman.
the interviewer is incompetent
Fuck, he was so handsome 🫠🫠 and with those set of heavenly pipes, I know he was one of God’s favorites🥲🥲 I wish he could’ve stayed here with us for much, much longer❤️🩹🥺
