I dont get it guys all i see is a massive heat signature
That’s the point. A heat seeking missile (infrared guidance or fox2) will target the biggest heat signature in its field of view, so it will guide itself towards the immense of infrared light source of the flares instead of targeting the plane. That’s what flares are used for. Side effect of this missile guidance system is they tend to lock on the Sun if it’s near a target aircraft when fired lol.
