Fuego Volcano is very active in the infrasound range. This explosion was recorded with an infrasound sensor delivered via Phantom 4 drone about 500m from the crater rim. Still well within the danger zone. The explosion video was recorded with a Mavic Pro 2. Jerry Mock flew the drones, Jeff Johnson processed the data and made the compilation video.

In February 2024, I, Jerry Mock, had the opportunity to spend 5 days on Fuego volcano in Guatemala leading up to the Cities on Volcanoes 12 conference and a further 2 days after the conference. Part of my work at Boise State University is capturing the eruptions from Fuego on video so we can decipher the connection between what the eruptions look like and what our other sensors are picking up. ...

Thesis proposal concerning Lahar morphological change along Las Lajas drainage over the 2021 rainy season with differencing of high-resolution digital elevation models.
